"I enjoyed the trip beyond what words can describe. In the midst of the trip things are moving quickly. It didn’t register with me the wonders and amazement until I returned home with a clear mind to reflect. I only wish that I had journal more about each site while there. Your body must be in fit condition to be able to appreciate all the sites. If you can’t make it through, there are waiting spots to rest. This was the best planned tour I have ever taken. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and I felt safe at all times. They were skilled and knew the locals. I traveled without a guest, spoke only English and the only female African American and was treated like royalty. I am getting ready to plan my next tour. I suggest that you take a mini and held fan if traveling during the summer and light clothing but enough for daily changing. I carried a kimono to cover my body for all Holy places that required full body covering. Once I exited the buildings, I had my shorts and tank tops on again. I am a very picky food eater. I had no worries. There was always something I could eat and enjoy. I was worried about getting their currency but found out it was much better to have American Money and Credit cards. You can negotiate better with American dollars!!! Take an extra suitcase for souvenirs. "
"We enjoyed our time a lot visiting many wonderful cities. Thomas was a very nice and helpful tour leader as well as the driver Oskar. We made some new friends who we really liked their company. "
"Had an amazing time, tour coordinator Di was awesome and knowledgeable of all the areas we visited! "
"We had a fantastic tour guide, Triesti (I probably spelled that wrong), who lives in Iceland. He told us all about why the phone books only list people by their first names, why there are so many sheep out, what happens to the Icelandic horses in the winter, and how to pronounce all those waterfall names! (among many other fascinating facts and stories)
We had a wonderful group of people with us, always on time. Seasoned travelers, one and all.
The scenery in Iceland is so beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice. Lots of walking on this tour, which was great. We did the whole perimeter of Iceland, so we felt like we had seen a lot! The breakfasts were amazing --- every single day.
Then, we went on the extension to Norway. Bergen is on a fjord, which is beautiful as well. The people are very nice, the scenery is glorious, again --- the breakfasts were amazing!
We were not aware that Norway and Iceland are the two most expensive countries in Europe. Bring money for lunches and dinners - not covered by the tour!
We paid for the extras such as the whale tour (which was great) and the Blue Lagoon (which was interesting and fun).
It was a fantastic trip. I have already told people they must see Iceland for sure. And if they can go over to Norway --- it is just the icing on the cake."
"Our guides explained everything so well. It helped us understand the culture and history. "
"Tour guide was very knowledge he got the group to participate by reading a scripture from the Bible that went with that specific area that we were visiting! The trip was very emotional amazing unbelievable and wonderful experience! The feeling of being in the Holy Land is unexplainable!! I would definitely do this trip again!!!! "
"We met some wonderful people from the U.S. and from Canada. All the accommodations were great and the meals were delicious, especially on the train."
"The tour guide was great. Helga Hensen was a wonderful guide who answered all questions we had. Even talked about the people of Iceland and their jobs, health care, etc. whenever we had questions. The bus driver, Christian, was also great. He was funny, helpful and a great driver. We saw the highlights of Iceland even though it was just a 6-day tour. We put many miles on our bus and on our feet!"
"Another interesting and beautiful trip by Go Ahead Tours. The itinerary was perfect and covered much of the Canadian Rockies. Highly recommend that you upgrade to the Gold Leaf Service for your two days on the Rocky Mountaineer. You will be treated like royalty. Weather of course was an uncontrollable factor and made pictures not as beautiful as the sights themselves with the constant haze and cloud cover."
"My husband and I had a amazing time to London and Paris. Our tour director kept us all together with care and guidance. The guided tours were fascinating and informative. As we arrived in Paris, the drive to our hotel wasn’t what I had image Paris to be as the ride lead us through a not so pleasant side of Paris. However, we never saw that part of Paris again and were able to navigate on our own during our free time with ease and confidence thankfully with maps and directions received by our director. For first timers, I highly recommend Go Ahead Tours. "
"The tour director was great and knowledgeable but the majority of the hotels and the included dinners were pretty bad. The hotel Villedamot in Barcelona was dirty and shabby but the people at the desk were amazing. Not impressed with this tour and would recommend Go Ahead post their hotels so people can determine whether they want to stay in those hotels or not. Once booked we find out less than a month before our trip the hotel names. Dinners included were rushed and mediocre. So disappointed on this tour. "
"All I can say is the experience was amazing but the logistics were awful, first the airline service was horrible I think Go Ahead tours should screen better the airlines they use for their travelers, Air Canada was just awful on their services, they lost one of my bags until now they can’t figure it out what happened with it, the transportation from place to place was bad, we got stocked 5 hours in Santorini airport and we were able to sleep but 3 hours when we were in our way to Rome, I think you guys need to do a better job when using transportations specially when we pay that much of a price in this tours I don’t think we will be using GO AHEAD TOURS in the future to me is more exhausting the travel time going in and coming back home "
“Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent trip. Carefree and fun adventures are what we always aim to provide our guests and it disheartens us to learn that the flight arrangements did not meet your expectations. We are sorry that you found this to be frustrating. We know how stressful international travel can be and we can imagine that dealing with long light arrangements might add to that stress. Our Travel Team works within our contracts to find the most direct routes available to us. In the future, please know that you are able to reserve flights outside of Go Ahead! We do hope that despite this, you were able capture great moments of your trip and we hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again in the future. ”
"It wa sa great experience except for a few things. President Trump was in London the same time so roadways were blocked off and detours cut into travelling time. Due to the fact that Trump was at Portsmouth Dover was squeezed in and we only had about 45 minutes to see the castle. It took 20 minutes from the car park. 20 back so it was a worthless visit. Not our guide`s fault.
The most unsatisfactory event that I did not receive a ticket for the D Day ceremony. Before I left for London I received an e mail stating that if I had not the ticket yet to check in London. Nothing came. George said that I had not signed up but why go if not for that purpose. Eveyone one on the tour found it baffling that I would get an email about the ticket if I was not signed up. Another person on the tour had the same problem. George told me he would talk to me about it but he left without doing so. I feel I should receive some compensation for this great disappointment. "The hotel in Madrid was less than desirable as it was very dark, cramped and very small with only a view of a dingy alley pit"
"Completely organized, AMAZING tour guide, comfortable buses, felt safe and cared for at all time.
My only minor complaint would be the hotel room selection. We were traveling with my 78 year old mom and I had a surgical boot from a foot surgery, just prior to the vacation. The gorgeous, vintage inn we stayed at in Venice had no elevators, yet we were but in a third floor room with 45 steep and some narrow steps to manage each day. Also, family's traveling together having booked multiple rooms were put on opposite ends or even different floors of the hotels in Florence and Rome. This made many unhappy."
