"I have purchased around $400 worth of club-making supplies and a few golf accessories from Golfsmith this year. Some years more, some less.
For some reason, they have had supply line issues and have not been able to get supplies in a timely manner. I do a little club repair on the side and they have just about killed that for me. I've ordered the exact items from Golfworks and got them in as little as four days but some of my orders with Golfsmith are still on backorder from the beginning of June. I've cancelled them all and I'm done with them for the time being. I've used Snake Eyes componenets and others from them for 20 years. I may give them a try again next year but not this year."
"I have ordered from Golfsmith before this with no problems. I ordered a reel of tennis string and immediately got a confirmation e-mail. It was listed as back ordered with a ship date a few days away. I waited....1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, with no word. I checked the status online and it had pushed back the delivery date another 2 weeks (totaling 6 weeks from when I ordered). I never received an update e-mail and finally called them after waiting 16 weeks (yes...16 WEEKS!) The let me know that my order had been canceled. They could not give me a reason why and actually accused me of canceling it. I asked why I had not been notified and they could not give me an answer. I wasn't offered anything as far as a discount but it didn't matter because I politely told the woman on the phone that i would not be buying from Golfsmith any more. Why would I buy from some place when I won't know if the item will ever come? I do not know if Golfsmith is in financial trouble or just don't care any more but their company has quickly gone downhill. Beware on ordering from them."
"I have been a Golfsmith fan for years, but no longer. I ordered a bag of tees, and a fairway club. I received immediate confirmation that the tees would ship the next day, but no word on the club. I sent an email asking about the club ship date. Several days later they responded that it would ship in 1 to 2 business days. After a week of no club, no email, I called them. I was told the club was shipping from Houston, TX. I asked them to confirm while I stayed on the line. After a lengthy wait, I was told the club was no longer available and the order was now canceled. There was no offer to compensate in any way, even after I pressed them to do so. I was civil throughout, though boiling inside. I sent another email expressing my dissatisfaction with the transaction, and also complained about the fact that I had used a $25 gift card for the club, which was no longer valid. The reply was that they were generously crediting $12 to my account for the gift card. So, I received a $6 dollar bag of tees, for which I paid another $12.50 from the gift card, for a total of $18.50 for a small bag of tees. I told them to keep the $12. Apparently they are in cost cutting mode, and they have successfully cut another pesky customer from their ranks.
***UPDATE*** Today I received an email from Golfsmith, apologizing for their inability to fulfill the order, and offering a 10% discount if I were to purchase a similar item. I cannot tell you if this review had anything to do with the offer."
"I ordered the TaylorMade 2009 Burner Driver to get the free Rescue club and shoes. Received the Rescue club right away, but then it is 2008 club. I’m still waiting for the 2009 Burner Driver. Emailed and called and both times told it would be shipped from a store. When I ordered online the site said ‘In Stock’. After checking my order a few days after receiving the Rescue club my order said The Burner was back-ordered after initially having an estimated ship date for the first few days. Checking again today the same exact item online and again it said ‘In Stock’. So, the word to the wise if you want sometime that isn't a year old go to your local store unless you want to wait... how long? No one knows. I’m thinking I won’t get the free shoes… Good while supplies last… Expiration date, etc…
On a different order place the same day as the one above for golf balls I ordered the TaylorMade TP Black because of the special price 2 dozen for $55, normally $42.99 each. The special price is still advertised on their site. Again back-ordered after initially having an estimated ship date for the first few days and looking at the order online yesterday they had changed the price to the normal $42.99 each price. Hmmmm… What happened to the 2 for $55 pricing? Called and cancelled that part of the order. Think I will try Dick’s Sporting Goods next."
"Golfsmith delivers again!
Shipping is great. Prices seem high, but I am pretty new to golfing so maybe it is just the initial shock of golf equipment!"
"Pretty good variety of products and prompt shipment, but shipping and handling are ridiculously high (almost 50% of the cost of the product)"
