"In theory, this is an efficient, fully electronic system. In practice, it has worked terribly for me. Shortly after I submitted my application for an EIN, I was contacted by email to provide further information via a web link. I promptly followed the instructions and provided the correct information the next day. I did not hear back for a week, at which point, I re-submitted the required information on the website and added comments to get attention to my application. I did not hear back for another 10 days. I finally made a phone call and my number was issued after a 2 minute hold! When I asked the representative why it took me having to make a phone call to follow up to get my number issued, she simply said "it's the first time this has happened (that the information submitted on the website did not work)"! The first time TWICE??? I submitted the information twice on the website, one week apart. If I had known, I would have gladly picked up the phone 20 days ago when I was first asked to provide the missing information. Given the level of the fee I've paid for this service, I am very dissatisfied."
