"I was upgrading the doors in my house and selected handlesets from Handlesets.com (part of Build.com). I requested front and back door keys to be keyed alike.
However, when they arrived the keys would not work in both locks. After multiple attempts I was instructed to get a local locksmith to re-key them the same and Handlesets said "Perhaps" they would cover some of this cost.

I still don't have product that I ordered in November. I asked for the president contract and I quote "Unfortunately, I do not have a phone number I can give to you as the Office of the President is the highest point of reference at Build.com." Really???

"Ordered twice from this vendor over two years and each time the order was late. The first time I received the wrong product, and returned it and never got a refund. The second time I received two conflicting notices the first one stating the product was shipped, the second stating it would ship later. A week later I emailed Handlesets.com and received a returned message that the manufacturer had to make the product and it would ship within a week and few days. Did not receive item, checked backed with vendor a month and a half later and was sent a shipping label link showing item arrived at my location about three week after I purchased the item. I never received the item? Ordered the same item from another vendor and it arrived within four days. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS VENDOR AGAIN. NEVER!!!!"
"I bought some drawer slides here and they were packaged and handled so poorly. The box was pretty beaten up when i got it and the slides inside were damaged on the ends and the mechanisms were broken. Surprise! I get to pay the return shipping and no refund for that."
"Worst experience I've ever had first thing was I paid for 2 day shipping which is not actually 2 day shipping it takes the warehouse 1 to 3 weeks to ship it out so... they process my order they took the money out of my bank account. secondly something happened where they couldn't process my order but they had took the money out of my bank so I asked for a refund they told me it would take 24 hours to go back into my account if that was true that would have been great but it wasn't the truth I kept calling back multiple times day after day to ask for my money back people kept giving me different amount of times one gave me between 1 and 30 days wait time another gave me 7 days which was frustrating so the last thing was they told me they put the money back into my account finally but that wasn't the case again they had put the money back and within minutes I had taken the money back out without my permission do not trust these people handlesets.com is not a trusting company"
"I was really nervous to order from this site after reading these reviews, but the price was so good, I thought it was worth a chance, since I could "protect the purchase with Google." I'm glad I did! My order left the warehouse first thing the next morning and was here in 2 days. Saved me a lot of money versus buying at home d$pot :).

This is what happened to me: I ordered a set of exterior door locks on July 24th, they promised to ship it on Aug 10th, they delayed to Aug 18th, Aug 20, Aug 31, Sep 8th and today I got the fifth one. And this time they made it even ''SMARTER'': sent a email at Sep. 10th and required me to reply before Sep. 9th in order to not cancel my orders. How clever they are....
Now I understand how they do not want to make the business, and I'm tired of waiting, so I will let them cancel it. I will make them even happier by telling all my friends not to buy anything from them because they really don't want to sell!"
"Don't buy anything through handlesets.com. I ordered Contemporary Collection Cira Series Passage Door Lever Set on Sept 1, 2014, but I have not received it yet. I contacted the customer service several times on Oct 6th, 13th, and Nov 5th. You have kept changing the delivery day. I emailed you on Nov 5th again to ask for the delivery, but I have not received any feedback since Nov 5th. My credit card was charged on Sept 8th, but I have not received it yet.

Their customer service is rude and incompetent. I ordered a lockset in October - bronze on one side, chrome on the other. They shipped bronze both sides. I called - NASTY customer service rep didn't believe me. Finally arranged to order and return - took 2 calls to get them to send me a prepaid label so I wouldn't have to pay return shipping for THEIR MISTAKE. Since then they have missed 2 ship dates. Of course they don't provide an update until I call them and they push the date out by a week. They just missed the 3rd ship date. RIDICULOUS!!!!"
"I originally posted a negative review about Handlesets.com and Build.com based on an experience in which Handlesets.com cancelled an order about 1 week after it had been placed. I had no warning that would happen, as it was a phone order, and I was told they were in stock. Apparently, Handleset's distributor had set a higher minimum order for Handleset.com.
Today, I spoke with a different person in customer services at Handlesets.com. She understood the problem that the cancellation caused for me and my client and was able to get an exception to the minimum order requirement of their distributor.
Although the delay is an annoyance, I am more than pleased with the added effort and follow-up by customer service at Handlesets.com.
Life is not without problems. What is important is how problems are solved. And in that regard, I have changed my opinion of Handlesets.com to a recommend.

"Caveat emptor. - The prices were good, the best I could find on the net. But I'm still waiting for my product to ship. I ordered the door hardware on 03/19/2010 and was told that it would take 7 to 14 days for the order. One thing I will say, is that they do a good job of responding to inquiries, however, their responses so far have been WRONG every time. I was told that it would ship on 04/01/2010, then 04/08/2010, then 04/12/2010 and finally 04/13/2010. Well, it is now 04/15/2010 and it still hasn’t shipped! Would I buy from them again? Only if the project isn't time sensitive (Like this one is that I'm Waiting for)..."
