"The product I ordered (sliding door hanger hardware) was exactly as advertised, arrived within a week (I paid for the cheapest shipping) and could not found locally at any price. "I placed an order for some light bulbs on October 3rd for my condominium building. I received the bulbs and put them in our storage closet so that the next time our maintenance person was on site, he could install them. He only comes to our building twice a week and he was busy with other projects. By the time he got around to installing the bulbs, he realized they were not the correct size so he gave them back to me to return them. The packages were unopened.

I noticed that the return policy was 15 days within receipt of the merchandise and asked that since it was beyond the required date, if they would accept the return and charge me whatever fee they had to because of it being late. The bulbs were still in their original package and had never been opened so it would not be an issue to resell them. I was told that since I was beyond the 15 days, no return would be accepted. Additionally, because I was beyond the 15 days, I could not receive a store credit either.

So I'm stuck with bulbs in their original packaging. The order was received in a timely manner. I guess their policy is clear about returns but I expected a little more flexibility with the return, particularly since the item had never been opened. I'll have to chalk this up as a $54 lesson learned. Glad I didn't order more.

"Do yourself a favor - do not buy any products from HardwareandTools.com. I bought a flashlight, literally used it twice for a total of thirty seconds, and the thing just stopped working. I called and informed HardwareandTools.com and they said that since it was beyond the 25 day period they couldn't do anything, and since the manufacturer is in China, I was simply out of luck. This website refuses to stand behind their products. Instead, they hide behind a short warranty period. Perhaps they just want to move product and do not care about their customers....I don't know. In any event, I think one is much better off using another web site or a bricks and mortar store - at least there will be some accountability. I know that if I had purchased something from Amazon, they would have taken it back. How does this upstart website think they are going to grow their business when they treat their customers this way?"

"I purchased 7 smoke alarms from this company and all came well packaged and working fine. When I placed my order I requested that they contact me if these alarms did not have a manufacturer's date of 2010. I received a personal phone call informing me that the dates were 2010 and when they would ship. They did not need to call, yet they did and I appreciate that. They had the lowest price, shipping was fast and because of the size of my order, it was free. Can't beat that! I was very happy with my purchase and this company. "

"BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!

On 3/10/10 I ordered what was listed as "Raindrip 3/4 Inch By 48 Foot IPS Flex Vinyl Pipe"
On 3/23/10 I received (VIA UPS) 48 Inches of pipe instead of 48 foot.
When I called customer service, they informed me that it was a typo on the website (big typo, considering it said F-0-0-T, instead of I-N-C-H, and also the picture shows an entire roll of hose, not a short length like the other listings that are advertising short lengths of the same pipe)
She offered to refund my money, I said no, I want the hose I ordered,to which she told me she would have a supervisor call me back. An hour later I got an email saying they were refunding my order.

I called again and this time spoke with a supervisor, who told me that it was a typo, and that they would not honor the price (still listed in their search result from their site, and in google shopping as of time of writing this) This supervisor, I believe his name was either Ron or Ray, was incredibly rude. After him telling me there was nothing he would do, says "Would you like to order 48 foot of Pipe? Otherwise I have to go, I have more important things to do" After telling him once more that I wanted him to honor the price, he HUNG UP ON ME!
I called right back and asked why he hung up on me, and he says because I used rofanity! I called him a liar, and said I did NOT use any profanity, and he hangs up on me again! I called back numerous times,each time being hung up on by him or his customer service lady.. This is the most unprofessional online retailer I have ever dealt with. BEWARE!!!!

"2 products were so poorly advertised that I purchased them in error.
1) 6 7/16 By 4 1/2 Inch White Step Cyl TK-ATH-104L by Boston Harbor.
Site description does NOT state that these will ONLY fit Boston Harbor track. Image is so small that they appear to be Juno track lights
2) 65 Watt Mogul Base Fluorescent Light Bulb B65FMOG by Cooper Lighting
Site description does NOT state that these will ONLY work with fluorescent fixtures.

Response by the company was:"
1) "we clearly state that it is a Boston Harbor cylinder. To add to the description that it will not fit xxxxx track or others is not a policy we have in place. To add the will not fits would only confuse customers in our opinion....."
My response: "Hey, here's an idea.
Add just 6 words.- WILL ONLY FIT BOSTON HARBOR TRACK!!!"
2) "the description of the (Fluorescent) light should have been sufficient."
Should have been?
I'm not an electrician. There are many fluorescent style bulbs that just screw into a standard household fixture. Add to that the fact that this bulb is so specialized that it will only fit one TYPE of lamp, there might be a need for a little more information.
Add this to your description. (It's on the side of the box)
"For use with 65 Watt fluorescent fixtures equipped with a mogul base" And - "This bulb will fail if used in any fixture not designed for use with a 65 Watt fluorescent bulb."
I have not returned these items because, although I received a RA, the cost of shipping BOTH WAYS, which is charged to me, is going to nearly equal the amount of the refund.
I am not prepared to be penalized financially because the items were poorly described.

Their next (the 2nd) customer service response?
They terminated the dispute with an arrogant-"no further comment."


It seems to me that this a wholesaler going internet retail and is used to dealing with trade professionals who know the products and jargon. They are NOT consumer friendly- in reading other reviews there are other circumstances where items are poorly described or mis-represented. You had better be very careful about what you order -otherwise you'll be paying the shipping both ways, even if the original shipping was free!

"Picture of item did not match product. I wanted a right angle plug, as per the picture. If I had read through the description I might have picked up that it was a straight plug. They provided me a RMA number, but the return is at my cost and if I want the right angle plug, I must place a new order and pay more shipping. Poor customer satisfaction. UPDATE: a week latter out of nowhere I get an email from customer satisfaction. The resolved the issue by updating the photo and sending me the correct parts with no shipping cost."

"I purchased a ceiling diffuser from Hardware and Tool. The item came but it was not the one in their picture , the picture had 3 rings the one they send had two rings. I can not use the diffuser they sent. I emailed them and then spoke to a customer service representive for about 20 minutes explaining my problem. She said send it back for credit. If I do send it back it will cost me another $7 shipping and then I will have spent about $14 shipping and no item to show for my $14. I asked them to return my $7.11 shipping to me and send a return lable to send the item back they said no. Their reasoning was the picture was incorrect but the discription was correct, not true. The pictured item has a diameter of 10" the one they sent is about 9" .
Long story short they made a mistake and they are adament about not correcting it. I own a dog boarding kennel and a home and there is always something I need to make repairs but I will never ever buy another item form Hardwareandtool.com
At this point I'm out $12.70 with a part I can't use
