Like any woman worth her salt, I love jewelry. But unlike most women, my heart-rate really gets going when I walk into a hardware store.

When I found Hardware World online it was like walking into one of those old-school hardware stores that has countless bins, barrels, nooks, and crannies filled with every conceivable shape, size, color, and quantity of wire, hinge, light bulb, paint, extension cord, glove, tape... We’re not talking little blister pacs with 2 yards of wire for $4.99. This is a hardware store, man. The good kind.

Like the really good neighborhood hardware store used to be, Hardware World is big on content and small on flash. It is the online equivalent of a store you want to spend an hour or so in, just wandering the aisles--the kind of great old hardware store that used to be down the street until the cookie-cutter hardware chains took over and all the big boxes showed up. The only thing missing is the crinkly-eyed hardware store guy showing you which hinge matches the one you have. (Though I have no doubt he is there at the end of the wires somewhere. You can’t have this kind of selection without someone really knowing what they are doing.)

The Hardware World site is well organized and simple to navigate and has no annoying ads or blinking specials. It isn't a high-tech site, and because of this, and because of their varied selection of merchandise in each category, the experience of buying from them carries with it the same feeling of satisfaction you get from shopping in the real deal.

And the pricing? Excellent. This isn't the kind of place that replaces solid value and selection with baloney and bells and whistles. My order arrived in a few days, perfectly packed with no annoying styrofoam peanuts--just brown paper crinkled up to protect the contents.

"Have ordered from them in the past. Never a glitch. Had one small glitch last month where they sent the wrong size screws but they resent out the correct ones the next day. No fuss. I emailed at 10 on my coffee break, they answered me back before lunch and took care of the issue. Anyone can make a mistake but it takes special people to resolve a problem quickly and without too much of a bump. My last order arrived yesterday. Perfect. "This is a review of Hardware World and comment on the rating from Clover. I have ordered from Hardware World many times in the past 2 years. I am remodeling my house room by room and do a lot of online shopping. Now I almost buy exclusively from Hardware World because they have great prices and their service is the best. I have always had great service, no matter what. I happen to work for UPS and know about the situation with "Clover's" incident as I work on the damaged package team. Her statements are not true at all and I see she has also been trashing Hardware World on other sites. She accused Hardware World of shorting her order. The fact of the matter is UPS damaged her package and we re-boxed the package and delivered it to her even though some of the merchandise had been lost. We explained it to her and also notified Hardware World and also paid for the new shipment. So I KNOW she got ALL the merchandise she ordered. AND, in fact, Hardware World was so eager to make sure she got her parts in time for her project they shipped out a whole new order to her. After she had received both replacement orders (one extra) they provided her with our pre-paid label so she could return the extras at no cost to her and we even came out to her house to pick up the package. She was extremely rude and nasty to me when I explained the shortage was OUR fault and not of Hardware World. I think she is just a mean, frustrated person who enjoys stirring up trouble. I think she was more mad that she did not get something for nothing, because she kept saying she should get everything free for her trouble Why? Accidents happen. She got what she paid for and she got much better service and patience from me and from Hardware World than she would have anywhere else. You cannot always believe these nasty people who write ratings. Sometimes they have other agendas. "
