"I to have place an order for a Britax Boulevard. While it did state that it was out of stock it also stated that it would ship within one week. That will be two weeks ago tomorrow. I have sent in two tickets: one inquiring about the status of my order, the other requesting a cancellation. I haven't received a response to either. My son was in vital need of a new car seat so we had to go out an buy another one. We have now spent almost 600 on car seats. I am upset that there has been no response and more upset that my credit card was charged before the seat was actually shipped to me. At this point I would just like my money back. I am disappointed in my experience especially since I felt like my order would help in the education of child vehicle safety.

UPDATE: I have been trying to get a hold of you through your site still with no luck. I declined the shipment as I had requested the order be canceled. I am asking for a refund or else I am going to be submitting a claim with my credit card company. I understand you have had some unfortunate circumstances for your company but I feel that that doesn't excuse lack of communication period with your customers.

"I placed an order for a Britax Boulevard on March 6, 2010. When I ordered, it said that the carseat was out of stock, but would ship within one week. Our credit card was charged on March 8, 2010. After I had not received shipping notification within one week, I emailed the company to inquire about my order. Christine Miller replied quickly saying that Britax was experiencing difficulties and that hipmonkey was expecting a shipment from them before they could ship to us. Her email assured us that it would ship within another week.

It has now been seven weeks since I ordered my carseat. I have sent four more emails, posted a claim ticket on their website, and tried to call the disconnected phone number. I have received NO RESPONSE from Hip Monkey. In my emails I have requested either a shipment or cancelation of my order--I need the money back to go and buy another carseat from somewhere else. My son just weighed in at 21 pounds--one more pound and he has reached the maximum weight for his infant carrier. I need the carseat now!!

UPDATE: As Christine's reply notes, the carseat did ship and arrived on May 4, 2010--two days shy of two months after my order date. Like other reviewers, it wasn't the delay from the manufacturer that concerned me but the lack of response from hip monkey and the early charging of my credit card. I felt trapped and scared that I would not be able to provide a safe ride for my child. It looks as if Christine is making progress towards turning these issues around. Good luck to you and your charity.

"the website says orders placed by 3pm ship the same day, and orders after 3pm ship the next day. My order was placed 3pm so it should have shipped on the 15th. Also, according to the shipping page it says Oklahoma gets 1 day shipping. I feel I should have recieved my order NO LATER than the 19 (and that is even giving an extra day) My credit card has been charged! That is insane! You should never charge a credit card until you are shipping the order! I even went back to the website to confirm that my carseat was "in stock" and it was. There were other colors that were out of stock, but the color I ordered does say in stock. There is no mention of any type of delay on my order confirmation, and I have still not received a shipping confirmation. I have used the contact form on the website twice now (granted the second time was only 30 minutes ago) but have not received a response-and my first contact form no longer shows up on the website."

"I placed an order on April 8, 2010 for the Britax Frontier. My credit card was charged the very next day. Today is April 22, 2010 and I still have not received my order. I have sent two requests in for customer service to contact me about my order and no one has contacted me. I also sent an email to ****@**** and no one has replied to that. There are no phone numbers to call and I am really getting concerned that I will never receive my order. I wish someone would just contact me so I will know if I have to take my business elsewhere."

"Help! Does anyone know how to get in contact with Hip Monkey? I ordered a Britax Frontier 85 carseat on April 18; received email saying order was received; since then I have sent two emails requesting info. on expected shipping date and received no response. Up to yesterday (April 21) my credit card had not been charged. Frustrated with the lack of customer service, I emailed last night (April 21) at 10:30 p.m. requesting they cancel my order. Five minutes later I checked my credit card and IT HAD BEEN CHARGED! I sent another email to ask what was going on and once again no response. I'm afraid I've lost $284.98 to an unscrupulous company.
I would like to give them the opportunity to make things right, but can't contact them.

"Update: I did receive the two Britax Advocate CS car seats on Saturday, May 1st. I am sympathetic to the owner's situation, but she should definitely have a notice on the website or an automated response letting people know of the expected delays.


Like other reviewers, I ordered car seats from Hip Monkey three weeks ago, and have still not received them, received any notification about when they will be shipped, or received any feedback from the company in response to my e-mail inquiry. The website clearly states "In stock orders placed before 3:00pm Central Time will be shipped the same day - orders placed after 3:00pm will be shipped the next day." You would think they would have the common courtesy to let you know if your seat is back ordered and when you can expect delivery -- and wait to charge you for the seats until they are ready to ship.

I have been trying to find a phone number, which led me to this site and the negative reviews of this company.

I ordered two Britax Advocate seats, and nothing on the site indicated they were out of stock. I find it unconscionable that they charge you for products they don't intend to deliver.

Do not order from this company.

"I ordered an 'in stock' carseat 3 weeks ago. It has not shipped and no one has responded to my email inquires. Of course they have already charged my credit card. I wish I had seen these reviews before I ordered, I would have gone someplace else to buy. I just sent another email to cancel my order. We will see how fast they respond to that one!"

"I ordered a Britax Roundabout 50 carseat from hipmonkey.com. The website said that the seat would ship within a week. I am used to being charged when the item ships but my credit card was charged right away. After a week and a half of hearing nothing about the seat shipping I tried to contact the company. I could not find a phone number anywhere. I found that the company is associated with the Kyle David Miller foundation and I could not find a phone number for them either. I tried running a reverse phone lookup using the address I was given on the confirmation e-mail and I could find nothing there either. The messages I sent have gotten no response.

I am horrified that a company attached to a foundation committed to child safety is taking people's money and failing to give them the safe car seats which it so vehemently advocates. If you believe in the company's message be sure to avoid them at all costs.

"I ordered a car seat almost 2 weeks ago, and it has not shipped yet. I've written 3 emails to Hip Monkey, and have not yet received a reply. The color car seat we chose was because it was listed as "available" on their website. I have never had such a poor experience when purchasing something on line: our credit card was charged immediately, our product has not shipped, and we are unable to find out any information from Hip Monkey...not worth the cheaper cost for the product!"

"This is an update to my last review: I did get the Britax stroller within a week AND The Britax car seat I ordered has been fedexed to me and is scheduled to arrive in a couple days (tracking does confirm this) I did write to Hip Monkey when I didn't hear from them in a couple days and did get a response and since then, they have been very diligent about following through with all questions and concerns. For those of you who claim you're not getting a response, write to Christina again. I believe although on occasion they may be short staffed, they provide very personal service and do really want to get you what you need. "

"I can't say enough good things about this store. I had originally contacted them because I had questions about a car seat, I must have spent over an hour on the phone with them. The girl I talked to was incredibly helpful and nice. She helped me decide which seat to get (the Britax Frontier) and was 100% right - I love it! I placed my order on Wed. morning and it shipped out that same day. It arrived 2 days later - you can't get quicker shipping than that! On top of all that, they also donate all their profits to help purchase car seats for children in need. I have never encountered a company with as great customer service and such a big heart.

I read through some of the bad reviews on here and it looks like people ordered an item that wasn't in stock (it says on their website if something is in stock or not) and then got mad when they didn't get it quickly. That's just ridiculous, if the item is marked as back ordered then you can't complain if you don't get it right away. I can tell you that I have never had such a great shopping experience. If you have a problem, just contact them, they are super nice.

"I made an order on February 3rd for a Radian XTSL in Nitro through Hip Monkey because I love that they donate car seats to families in need and I wanted to support this cause. I knew that the car seat was out of stock at the time, but I had a month time before I needed it. I was surprised when they took the money out of my account immediately. No other online store that I have ever dealt with does that when an item is not in stock. Everyone else takes the money right before shipping. Well it is now 1 month later and I still have no car seat and I'm out of time for waiting. I tried to be understanding, but this is a ridiculous wait time! Every other online store that I visited has this seat in stock, so there is absolutely no excuse for Hip Monkey to delay so long. I've sent them an email asking for updates but I have not gotten any response. There is no way to contact them by phone. Their cause sounds like a great idea, but with their horrible business ethic I cannot recommend them to anyone. I'm very worried about getting my money back now that they've already taken it without delivering a product. I'll need to wait for that to be refunded before going somewhere else. Car Seats cannot be delayed 1 month or more!"

"I have been looking to get another Britax Regent for my daughter and only found them at 2 on-line stores. I have one for my son and love it but apparently they have discontinued these seats. I looked up reviews of both the on-line stores that still offered them because I have not previously heard of them. Reviews for both stores were very mixed. Both places had pretty much the same price on the seat. I went with hipmonkey because I liked the fact that I was also helping a foundation with my purchase.

I ordered the seat on a Saturday and it was delivered on the following Thursday. I am VERY pleased with how fast it was delivered especially after some of the reviews had stated how long it took to get their item. I would defiantly recommend and order from this site again!

"I recently place an order for a Britax Blink stroller not knowing anything about your store (HipMonkey.com). Now that I know, I am so happy I found you. I had originally placed my order through someone else and learned the following day it was on back order. I went through page after page on Yahoo trying to find another online store that had it in stock. I found you and ordered it and it should be here tomorrow. I noticed that you had a link to the Kyle David Miller Foundation at the top but didn't think much of it. I was already familiar with the foundation from the car seat board at BabyCenter back when I was researching seats when my now 4 year old was about 9 months old. I also have a 6 year old daughter and my son is almost 2. After learning about Kyle and getting lots of info (way back then) I purchased a Decathlon for my daughter and got a Regent for my older daughter (who at 6 1/2 and 45 pounds still rides in it). I learned the importance of rearfacing and my little one rf'ed till she was 2 1/2 and my son still does at almost 2, and will for some time still in his Marathon. Both my daughters ride in Regents in my car now and also have a Nautilas as a backup for them in dads car. I truely believe in extended rearfacing and harnessing!!

I am so happy I ended up having to cancel my first order and order from your site instead. I think "HipMonkey" just stood out as a cool name too!! I am so happy that I can help out the KDM foundation in this way. It is awesome what you guys do to help families that cannot purchase these seats.

I am looking into getting a new vehicle that I would need to have 3 seats across and my only option is the Radian80. I showed it to my husband and he liked it as well. Now I know that if I have to buy them I will only by them from you!!!!

I will pass on your site to anyone I know in need of a carseat!!

"I am extremely frustrated with this company. I made my purchase on Jan 16 and still have not received my car seat. I've sent emails (the only way to contact them) requesting updates. I received one reply a few weeks ago that they were receiving the shipment and would mail out my carseat promptly, but never received it. After sending additional emails requesting a status update, I've received absolutely no response. Furthermore, they charged my credit card immediately for a product not in stock, so I'm stuck.

Update on 2/18: Hipmonkey has finally gotten back to me, was (belatedly) responsive to my concerns, and came up with a solution. I would still not recommend this company to anyone who needs quick service - it's too small, and trying to get a response when something's not right is too much of a hassle. But, if you're ordering way ahead, want a good price, and want to support their cause, it might be worth your time. I doubt I would use them again myself (unless they get more staff) but am happy to finally have this resolved.
