"Pay attention to what eevryone is saying. Hobby King are pirates who only want your money. Once they have it you are on your own. No customer service, no warranty service, and no one to help you. Spend your money somewhere else and most important, tell your friends that these guys are rip off artists.
Post your complaints here, http://www.ezonemag.com/ in the Vendor talk section."
"I'm building an AeroQuad. Hobby King was a recommended in the AeroQuad build tutorial as a supplier for motors and electronic speed controllers. HK's web page says ""Location: USA" and had good prices. So I ordered $132.50 worth of motors and ESCs from HK using my Visa. Days later order was still "payment pending" on their website. So I used Paypal instead. Order cleared immediately. Two weeks later, my motors and ESCs are still in Hong Kong, and I have two Visa bills for $132.50 from two other vendors (Hektronix, PayPal), neither of which lists HobbyKing as the payee.
Bottom line: spend a little extra and go with a reputable vendor (I've heard good things about Hobby Lobby)."
"I placed an order on 2/29/2011 and they didn't shipped until 3/10 because they have "too many orders" (directly quote from their customer support). I asked why they didn't disclose the order delay when I placed the order? the customer support didn't have any answer. I guess they are practicing "getting the money first" and screw the customer. I will never do any business with Hobby King."
"Nothing to review in regards to their products. They never delivered anything, do not respond to e-mails and their "online chat service" is as dead as a website gets.
They are a scam/fraud and I will have to go through my credit card company to get my money back."
"Placed two previous orders with Hobby King,no problems. Last Friday, however, HK lived up to it's negative reviews - Two weeks ago, I had placed a backordered pylon racer in my HK "Wish List".
Friday morning I received a promo fro HK telling me that the item on my Wish List was back in stock - YEAH! I ordered it promptly, within two hours of the restock notification. I paid $43 for 3 day delivery.
When I received my confirmation, the plane was listed as backordered. I wrote and asked why - that I had received a notification that it was in stock - otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it. And I SURE wouldn't have paid $43 for 3 day shipping on an order I had to wait for the order to be complete for it to be shipped - could be weeks - months.
In my email, to be perfectly fair to HK, I told "Linda" that I didn't mind waiting for the order but in all fairness, they needed to adjust the shipping fee. After all it was their mistake about the plane having been restocked.
I won't bother repeating her reply or my next email or Linda's final email. Suffice it to say, they weren't budging. I COULD cancel my order, she said. I told her I didn't trust them to refund my money, that they'd failed every step of the way so far. So leave my order stand as is.
I'll get it some day. And it will arrive quickly whenever it's finally shipped because I PAID for 3 day shipping! Hopefully it won't be broken, which wouldn't surprise me in the least.
I SHOULD have heeded the reviews to beware of Hobby King. If and/or when my order ever shows up, I will be canceling my Hobby King account. I already plan on telling everyone in my flying club to stay away - problem is, they probably already KNOW that!
BEWARE!"
"This order was for a Walkera helicopter during the final inventory blowout so the prices were incredible. I'm pretty sure the order volume was pretty high at that time also because of the sale.
I placed the order 2010/09/14
I received a pack/ship notification on 2010/09/16
According to HKpost it shipped on 2010/09/17 and it arrived 2010/09/23.
Nine days from order to delivery, not bad for HK, certainly the best of the HK stores I've dealy with.
As for the store itself I think you need to appreciate it for what it is. There certainly are a lot of junky products (at good prices), there are also a bunch of decent things at great prices. Sometimes it's a struggle to know which something is but usually you can tell from the picture and description. They also have a lot of nice features like a motor finder, a lipo finder, and a "fill up the shipping rate" feature that will look for items that you can add to your order and not go into the next shipping bracket. Shipping I think is also pretty reasonable.
Though I would say to count on 10 days for standard delivery to the USA from them."
"Hobby King? Not the lowest price! when you figure in the shipped it's no buy! I ordered a plane from them and the shipping was $40! and it arrived smashed, now for the point, customer service???????? I've been fighting with them for 2 weeks, had to send picutes of the damaged plane
(Twice) and it's still not resolved. I had to turn this over to Paypal for resolution and I'm waiting for that. These guy are bandits, they shipped the plane in to large a box that was smashed not to mention the 3 2200MAH batteries floating around helping the problem along. So with the little pop-up add that states don't worry we stand behind our products and we will refund your money is bull! there are plenty of state side shops that sell china products like Nitro Planes and hobby Partz at the same price with free shipping in most cases, No need to go direct when you can deal with real people in the states and if there is a problem will get resolved without having to file a case with Paypal. So if you want to buy from these guys I hope you don't have a problem or you will have a problem and don't forget consider the shipping and the lack of customer service if you have an issue. Hobby King? Never again! I figure I'm out $95"
"Now, i've ordered plenty of things from Hobbyking. And never had a problem, but i really do hope you never have a problem and have to return an item.
I waited 1,5 months before my "In stock" item was shipped.
It arrived defective and i created an RMA within the usual 14 day return period.
Today, 6 months later, a replacement item is on the way, after i've sent several emails stating that I want a full refund($250 order)
If you item arrives broken, dont return it, just stop shopping there."
"Ordered some battery connectors to put in my RC Plane.
Order was processed and shipped quickly. Order arrived in 11 days, quick considering the shop is based in China.
All in all a terrific experience."
"dude7422 here hi all i have ordered from hobby king in the past this is the 5th order and i can say you will not kind a lower price on 80% of the items they sell even after the shipping cost there prices are so low some ebay sellers buy from hobby king and resell the items so if into radio controled take a look you just may find a new friend and we call him hobby king lol only down fall is they are in china so returns will cost more then to just buy another new item and even with this downfall they still beat the other venders like a red headed step child"
"I've been ordering RC aircraft parts from this company for about a year. Their pricing is excellent. This outfit is based in China so shipping is a factor, but even with shipping cost their prices are still a fraction of the cost. I have found quality to be very good, though customer service can be hit or miss. After at least a dozen orders I'm very satisfied."
