"I have forgotten how expensive shipping can be. I ordered shoes that were delivered very efficiently however there was a caveat by the manufacturer to get a half size smaller due to the wide toe box. I followed their guidance but still found the shoes too big so I planned to exchange for another half size smaller. The cost to return was $20.00. If the exchange doesn’t fit that would be another $40. to return the second pair. That’s $40.00 out of pocket and no shoes. I will attempt to cancel my order and get a refund and try a different brand from a local dealer."
"I ordered a pair of shoes from Holabird. When I received them they looked great and felt good, but were a little large. So, I called to see what I needed to do to exchange them. They told me that the exchange would be free and I could use the paperwork in the box to return those I received and to mark what I wanted in exchange. I did that and expected to get a smaller pair of shoes shortly. Instead I waited and hadn't heard anything from them so I replied to one of the emails I'd received during the order process. I got a response that they didn't have the size shoe I'd requested and so they refunded my money. They said I should have gotten an email that told me that. It's possible that I missed that, but I didn't see one. Still, I didn't want a refund... I wanted a pair of shoes. I guess it's going above and beyond.. but, I would have liked either the person I talked to when I asked about exchanging the shoes to have asked what I wanted to exchange them for to have looked them up and told me then that they were not in stock.... and, then to have given me some other options. Or, rather than to just refund my money for someone to have contacted me to see if there was some other pair that may have interested me. I'd think this would be worth the money to Holobird as well. I did end up ordering another pair from them of a different brand. But, they could have lost this $100 order. So, if I were a manager there I'd find someone that was good on the phone and have them contact anyone in a situation like mine and have them call to see if there was something else that they might want... If they are a $15/hour person or so they would only have to be successful on one call for every six hours or so they work to be worth the effort. Still, I know this is not the norm... I just don't see why it wouldn't be done. Holobird still has excellent products at excellent prices. So, I look forward to my next pair of shoes arriving shortly... and, I hope they fit."
