"I contacted HomeAdvisor for a handyman/contractor in the area. Within a minute I had a call from a nice man and he was able to do the job I hired him to do. That's not the problem I had with them.
The problem I'm now having with them now is that after I submitted my request, I began getting calls asking for me by name but looking for a handyman. I brushed off the first call but then came a steady stream of them. They were giving out my name and home phone number to anyone looking for a handyman! I received multiple calls from all over the state. The reason I needed a handyman in the first place was because I had a home invasion over the weekend and needed repairs to my front door. I was home alone during the break in! Terrifying! So I turn to someone I think I can trust and they end up exposing me even further to God knows what now! This is not a small thing people! This is a HUGE error giving out clients information like this!!!! They better hope nothing happens to me as a result.
Again, just to clarify. The handyman worked out well. That part of the service seemed to work just fine for me but it's clear they don't really do much screening of these individuals since they had me listed as a HomeAdvisorPro!
After having been violated in an unimaginable way, I reach out for assistance to a company that claims to be dependable and safe in your time of need and am violated again! Very disappointing!"
"Used Home advisor to find a paving company for my driveway. Bottom line is the guy ripped me off of my deposit. I contacted home advisor and they tried to reach out to the home pro. Since the home Pro never replied to them Home Advisor told me there was nothing they could do. I told them that was the issue. He avoids contact since he got my money. Tried to start the claim up again about a month later but since the home pro was no longer affiliated with home advisor anymore they told me they could not help. Nothing but a scam. When I see their commercials about trusted home pros and they do background check it makes me sick. Currently there are at least 5 people I know of that got scammed, not just by the local paving contractor but by home advisor and their claim on TV and how thorough they are. I continually tell everyone I know to avoid them and stick with the friend networks, opposite of what home advisors TV ads are. More reliable."

"The contractors (tree and termite) were terrible. American o street control caused me a lot of stress. They never called to update me on arrival time. It took a lot to prepare for fumigation. My car was packed and ready to go. They had given me a window of 10:00 to 1:00pm. I called at 13;45 pm for an update. She called “the boss”. She tells me that his phone goes directly to voice mail. At 1:15, I called back asked no for an update. Unbelievably poor service personnel. I told the receptionist to tell the boss to call the owner (it was then 1:30 pm) call within 15 minutes or I’m cancelling. Someone with a Hispanic accent named Tony called at 1:45. He said they had trouble with a client and the he would be at my place in an hour. I said “oh no”. I have zero faith to n your work quality and wotk ethic. I your kid him that he could have called me hours ago to let me know. Mind you, Sdge had already turned off my gas. I am so disgusted with HomeAdvisor."
