"This review is particularly for the Gallivant Hotel.

* When I arrived at 10am, there was no room ready. The woman at the desk had never heard of "Hotels By Day" and asserted that the earliest possible check-in was 3:00 pm. When I created a fuss, she found me a room for 12:30pm.

* The quoted price was $135, "plus fees and taxes" -- and she charged me $239, explaining that there were fees and taxes above the quoted price.

* The woman behind the desk was distinctly rude. She clearly thought that a morning check-in was somehow obnoxious on my part.

* I finally got into the room at nearly 1:00, and it was hardly more than a closet. A microscopic single bed, with just enough room to slide onto it.

On the positive side: it seemed clean."
