"I've ordered a Sony DWU10A; however, I had received a Samsung SM-352. So, they asked me to ship it back and they will refund me my UPS shipping cost of about $7.00 back to the Credit Card company. Long story short I finally got the right part, but it's already Dec. 1st and I am still waiting for my refund.
DO NOT TRUST THEIR WORD - THEY ARE TOTALLY EMPTY. THERE IS NO HONOR IN CHEATING.
One thing is that from now on I will read ratings of any company. The sad thing is that someone else already reported this company cheating behavior and I did not read it before making the purchase with "The House of Computers"
I guess, I have to cut my losses and warn the others gullible souls.

After seeing so many dissatisfied customer I wonder why Yahoo! is keeping them. If it wasn't for Yahoo! I would never consider them for the purchase. My 2 cents."
"I ordered two items from this company. The most recent was a RADEON 9600 PRO EZ 128 M video card. The price was exactly waht was quoted to me, but I decided on the retail version as that was still cheaper than other places. I received it in good order ans got exactly what I paid for. I also paid another $3 to expedite shipping which I felt was worth it as a previous order took quite a while to get.
That previous order was an OEM CD-RW drive, I got what I paid for which was a bare drive, they even got the specific generic brand that I ordered. the only thing with this order was since I had a shipping address different from my billing address, they required me to send a fax with written confirmation and a copy of my ID. I hadn't done that but called them. They were very nice and sent my package right away."
"Order a universal ac adapter because the price was right. Shipping was more than it should have been but still it was a pretty good deal. Prompt delivery."
"Like many other raters, I was quoted a much higher shipping price than pricewatch, bringing the total $15 over the pricewatch price. I called them, and a person on a speakerphone looked the item up and gruffly informed me that this price was right. I objected, and he told me to put the pricewatch price in the comment section, I did, and guess what? They are "out of stock!" Even though I talked to them 10 minutes earlier. The irem is STILL LISTED on pricewatch, and the order on the website still takes (no "out of stock" message, like when things are really out of stock.) Bad business -- stay away."
"They still owe me money! They failed to honor their own advertised Pricewatch.com price. After many ignored emails and several phone calls I finally got some of the difference. However, I had to suffer several conversations with a rude and seemingly purposefully obtuse individual. I'm still mad about it! "
"I Ordered a 120GB Hard Drive on Monday and I received the Hardware the following monday. Shipping was UPS Ground and it was 13.80 $ .. So shipping is a little high, but packaging has to be top notch, hard drive came in a plastic case with a foot of bubble wrap around it. Prices are extremely good."
"Claimed they were out of stock on item purchased.
Offered a more expensive item in replacement.
Never informed me the item was canceled.
They do not have an 800 number, and I was forced to call long distance and wait 10 minutes for a rude representative to tell me that they had canceled my order without informing me."
"I bought a 52x24x52 OptoRite Cyberdrive on 4-21-2003. Received it on 4-28-03. Drive came in a new box, with bundled burning software, audio cable, mounting screws, and manual. Seems like a pretty good company to deal with to me. I'll post again if anything changes my mind."
"Quick, reliable, friendly service. Exactly as expected. Great prices on hard drives. Will always go to them for my hard drive needs."
"I made two seperate orders to this company from pricewatch... each ad was misleading to the price, i was given calls that the order was more costly each time. Upon the second order, i called to tell them the order was wrong and did not recieve a response. Overall shady business."
"I ordered a firewire CD-r burner for my wife. I didn't receive what I had already paid for but something different and totally incompatible with her laptop, furthermore what was received didn't even have all of it's parts. Namely a power cord.
Not only that but it was even a firewire compatible device!"
"I ordered a Radeon 8500 64MB only to find out upon inspection the clock speeds were infact 250/220!
They should be atleast 275/275! While this is not much however, I was planning on o/c'ing the card only to find out it's memory cant even get pass 245 without artifacts! I emailed hoct and havent gotten a response at all! My order specifically states a Radeon 8500 64MB DRR. The cheaper Radeon 8500le are at 250/250! Extremely poor service if you ask me."
"i went to pricewatch.com to find the best deal on 120gb hard drives. hoct.com had the best price listed, but when i went to their site and tried to order, shipping was $4 more than what they claimed on pricewatch (and i'm in the same state, even!).
why would they risk losing sales by misrepresenting shipping costs by just a few bucks? the answer is obvious: those few bucks are just enough to give them the best price listed, to put them in the #1 spot.
i cancelled my order. if they're willing to be dishonest about something like shipping costs, then who knows what else they're dishonest about."
"I don't have any complaints, and had a really smooth purchase with them. I ordered a power supply from their website. The price was different than on Price Watch, but they honored the lower price and lower shipping charge. Shipped the item quickly, and received without any problems. The item was packed well, and I would definently order from them again."
"My experience with House of Computers was fairly brief. I saw a deal from them over pricewatch for an IBM Thinkpad 600E that was still under warranty. I was going to use it for school, until I found it completely useless since I was reliant on my desktop. I sold it a month or two later.
Tech support was fairly knowledgeable about my questions (when I was talking to the right guy.) When I asked about the physical integrity of the laptop he sounded very insulted though. Regardless, I got my laptop on time and in adequate packaging. Nothing was missing or profoundly damaged. My credit card was charged twice accidentally, but they quickly fixed the error without me having to tell them.
My only real complaint about House of Computers was the supposed blow to his integrity by my asking about the laptop's condition and the laptop arriving with a dead pixel that wasn't supposed to be there. IBM quickly took care of that though. God bless IBM's laptop facilities. =)"
