"Excellent buy on some older model SCSI hard drives and moderate prices on current models. Phone commo is sort of brusque, but actions speak louder. Order arrived quickly, very well packed and just as ordered. The drive I installed so far works GREAT. Can't ask for much more.
. I have ordered from and recommended HyperMicro in the past and I will continue to do so.

"Hyper Microsystems, Inc. advertised a Pioneer DVR-A05 DVD burner and I purchased one. After I received it, I did some further research and
discovered that what they sent me was not a DVR-A05, it was a DVR-105 drive in a plain brown box with Hyper Microsystems' version of the A05 bundle. I reported this discrepancy to Hyper Microsystems almost three weeks ago and have not received a response. I feel like I've been cheated, or at the least, misled.
From CNET's web site:
Pioneer ships the DVR-A05 with a versatile software bundle. It includes Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3, the first version of the popular CD-mastering package to support DVD-R/RW; VOB InstantWrite to take care of the packet-writing chores; and Sonic MyDVD 4.0 (ArcSoft ShowBiz video editor is now included) to handle DVD movie-authoring and video-capture chores. Sonic's CineMaster 1.5 DVD movie player rounds out the bundle. To get you started, Pioneer includes one DVD-R and one DVD-RW.
Hyper Microsystems ships the "DVR-A05 whitebox kit" with:
Pioneer DVR-105, Nero Express, Ultra ATA cable, 4x DVD-Recordable disc, 1-year warranty."
"I have bought a Maxtor Atlas 10K III SCSI hard disk from Hyper Microsystems about two weeks ago. I totally enjoyed the experience I have had with them. The price was right, not the lowest, but among the lowest ones for this product. (However, I am always willing to pay a little more for a product in exchange for great customer service. And Hyper Micro delivers here, too.)
The product was brand new (as a matter-of-fact, they advertise only brand new peoducts on their web site), and carries the full 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
Shipping was free and on time, as promised. Hyper Micro honors agreements with other companies (in my case, shipping was free when I referred to StorageReview.com).
They have a good return policy (a lot of companies out there have only 15 days return policy, and/or they charge shipping even when your product is defective),and a great cutomer service.
Their web site (www.hypermicro.com) is well designed, with all the information needed for a cutomer to make an educated decision. And if you don't find someting on their web site, no problem! Just call their toll-free number, and they'll be happy to help you.
I will definitely continue to buy from them for as long as they will keep up with good prices and service."
"As always, excellent service. I wouldn't use any other company besides for Newegg and Hypermicro if I had my druthers. Ordered Lead Data DVD-R's and as always am pleased with the prompt service and detail that Hypermicro provides.

"Ordered a pack of 50 DVD-R. Really cheap prices of DVD media! Got an email confirmation immediately after placing my order. Their ordering system is a little odd because after clicking the button to submit my order, a new browser window opened saying that they have received the order while my credit card info and shopping cart info was still in the other browser window. Considering everything, however, things went smoothly and I would purchase from them again.
--Update 5-19-03
I haven't received any further emails from them yet as to whether or not my order has been prepared or shipped. I would assume that they hopefully are processing my order today since I ordered it during the weekend. The DVD-Rs are in stock so theoretically it should be shipped today. But as of today, I haven't recevied any email besides the order confirmation email that I received on Saturday ... perhaps tomorrow they will send an email saying that the package has been shipped.
--Update 5/19/03 5:45PM PST
Just got an email saying they shipped out the order! They might not be the fastest in processing orders, but you just have to wait patiently (which I wasn't ... my bad). Hyper Micro has well earned my trust. Keep up the great work guys!"
"I ordered an IBM Ultrastar with the free LSI Logic card from them in January. For some reason, the drive died (I smelled smoke after I turned the computer on). I sent in for an RMA #, and then called and asked if I could do a cross-ship, since this was my system drive, and I had no computer until this was replaced. They said yes, and not only shipped the drive out that day (I called them at 11 o'clock CST), but they shipped it 2nd day air. I got it in time to set it up over the weekend. Excellent prices backed up by excellent services. I'll definitely go back to them, especially for SCSI needs."
"I had to initiate contact to get confirmation that it shipped. But, they shipped out REALLY fast, and the gear was exactly as described and arrived FAST and in PERFECT condition. I would definitely recommend and do business with Hyper Micro again! Thanks guys!
**UPDATE**
I had a problem installing my SCSI HD with this card and called their tech support (on their 800 number...cool) and Andy spent a LONG time helping me..and was VERY patient and helpful. To me, when a company is attentive during the sales process...that's a really great thing. But, when they're this interested and helpful AFTER the sale...THAT says what kind of company they are. I will definitely buy from Hyper Microsystems again, and highly recommend them!"
"This place is one of the worse places i've ever dealt with. Ordered a 15k IBM 36 gig hard disk that was a special on www.storagereview.com that advertised _free_ shipping with a u160 LSI scsi controller. Called them up to verify that this covered _any_and_all_ shipping, which of course they said it did, including second day fedex air. so i second day fedex'd it to my friend's apartment and what do the do? they charge me the $30 for second day air. not only that, they then charge me $9 for UPS ground, when they are suppose to credit this back to me. When i called them up, they said that the free shipping only covered UPS ground, and that this was standard practice. they wouldn't credit the "free" shipping to me, and even forgot to credit the standard $9 back to me with their "free" shipping. after getting into disputes with 2 customer representatives, i had to eventually talk to one of the owners of the company who had flown in from Comdex in Las Vegas. I explained it to him, and after waiting a couple of weeks, i was getting a bit fed up. he then just gave me his email and told me to give him the invoice # of my order, and he said he would credit it back to me right away, no problems. he then inquired why the sales representatives didn't do this, and i said because they said they didn't have the power to, which of course, he said they did and should have done so right away.
so my first order left a bad taste in my mouth, but i still decided to give them another shot. ordered the sony dru-500ax (dw-u10a) dvd+-rw drive from them with a 25 pack of ritek dvd-r's. good deal too. i put it on my debit card, and got an email a shortwhile later saying that they couldn't validate my billing and shipping address, and to make sure i add it to my credit card as a valid shipping address. alright, no problems so far, so i call up bank of america and they said they don't do any such thing because it's not a credit card, and it's against california law to give merchants this info, unless it's a credit card. i call up hypermicro and explain the situation, and they have no problems with it, and decide to ship the order anyways to my billing address with 2nd day fedex air to boot. i'm extremely satisfied up until i found out they ship to my other shipping address another dvd+-rw drive and charge my account twice. now i'm stuck with sending the damn drive and media back. i don't understand out these guys stay in business. they can't seem to get any of my orders right, well, last time i'm ordering from them."
"I bought a Promise Supertrak SX6000. Received the item after 4 days in good condition. Mentioned storagereview.com in the comment field and got free ground shipping. I definately will buy again from them."
"Purchased a Seagate 15k3 and Adaptec 23320. Parts were well priced and shipped promptly. One of the cables was defective, but they shipped a replacement quickly."
"I decided on Seagate X15 drives and a Adaptec 29160N. Per Pricewatch, GlobalMicro had the lowest price. But they didn't have the parts in stock.
I called Hyper Microsystems. Slightly higher prices, but they had everything in stock. Got my parts as promised, well packaged and would order from them again."
"Bought from HyperMicro for over two
years now and have always been very
satisfied with the service. Will buy
from them again and soon :)"
"excellent communication as well as delivery. RAID 5 card arrived exactly as expected.
Thanks!"
"I ordered 2 hard drives around midnight Wednesday. I asked for Next Day shipping. They sent it Express Saver. I received them Monday. They were the wrong drive. I ordered 2 180GB IBM 180GXP's, I was sent the correct series, but wrong model. Additionally, their ability to know what's going on with an order is very close to nill. They take forever to find out what the status of your order is, and can't easily give you tracking numbers. I qualified that sentence with three separate phone experiences: one Thursday, one Friday, one Monday. I honestly want to believe that my experience is very unusual, since this company is so highly recommended by Storagereview.com, and indeed Hyper Microsystems supports Storagereview.com with many evaluation units, but I just don't know if I can order from them again. Newegg's system is much better, you have online access to your order status, and because their entire ordering system is computerized and scanned-in, there's no chance of human/manual error when a human sees the model "180GXP" and thinks that means it's the 180GB model. My best guess is that they mean well, but I've just gotten a string (within this single transaction) of very bad luck from them, and on the other point -- luck has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that their business is unable to tell you what's going on with your order in a timely manner.
I'm a very forgiving person and if they make things right, I'll definitely post back. I strongly suspect that they will want to make me a happy customer, based upon some of the comments I've seen here. On a positive note, I suspect that the reason they sent it Express Saver is because in the ordering comments field, I posted that I was recommended by Storagereview.com. I knew that entitled me to free ground shipping, and I was hoping it might also entitle me to a discount on the Next Day Air which I had selected. Still, it's a very curious thing indeed to send something Express Saver (usually 3-day) when the customer specifically requests Next Day.
EDIT: What can I say? I'm impressed. They preemptively corrected their mistake before I even received the wrong drives! Within a matter of hours, I'll receive the correct drives, courtesy of Hyper Microsystems & Fedex Priority Overnight. My bad experience with this company has turned from sour into 100% sweet."
"Ordered with them on a Wednesday Morning. Was told to call in the afternoon for Tracking # but was unable to get one as their system was down. Called the next day and received the # and was pleasantly suprised when Fed Ex called shortly there after to tell me my package was at customs. Received the order the next day (Friday). Though it came without a Invoice of any kind. All in All a good experience."
