A week later received a call trying to sell me a similar item, and finally second call admitting that the drive would not be available, and that they will issue a refund. The drive is still listed on their site with 40 pieces in stock! Very disappointing given my previously positive experience with this outfit, be careful.

"I ordered (overnight shipping) two SCSI 10k Maxtor drives from them around 4pm PST for a time-sensitive rush job that had to be ready to go 48 hours later. I received both drives in less than 16 hours, but one drive arrived DOA.

I Called the support staff - service was incredible - I am having another drive overnighted, free of charge. My only gripe is they aren't mailing a return label to cover the return shipping of the DOA product, but they're giving free overnight on the return product, so it's a trade-off in my book. I deal with several vendors and this has been an excellent first-time buying experience. Not even Dell offers is this speedy, and I've spent millions of dollars with them.

As for the previous comment I read about someone's shipping being higher than expected: This is clearly user error - users need to be more careful with the scroll wheel on their mouse - Because the shipping uses a dropdown menu, if you use your mouse's scroll wheel while the shipping field is highlighted, you'll change the shipping rate :).

I would bet my life this person set the shipping price and, upon trying to scroll down the page, they scroll down through the shipping options. Gotta watch that stuff! ;)"

"i have ordered scsi hdd before. never had a problem with purchased items. ordered a new scsi hdd, it completely died on the nite of 29-MAr-04. filled out a RMA request that nite. waited for 2 days and no reply on the RMA. emailed maxtor about a RMA. got a prompt reply within 1 day. processed maxtor RMA (advanced replacement) and had my new hdd installed on the 5-APR-04 and the defective drive fedex back on the 6-Apr-04. i finally got a reply from hypermicro on the 7-APR-04 that my RMA has been approved.

i use to think very highly of hypermicro, but after this incidence, i will regulate hypermicro to my 2nd tier choice and move pc-pitstop in its place. you can see my review over there about my buying experience with pc-pitstop.

i still think everything but the RMA process is great. they just need to work on the email reply time."

"I've been dealing with this company for about 4 years now, and have made multiple purchases from them (totally $2,500, give or take). They are great. I buy lots of normal PC hardware from newegg.com, which is a great company, but if you are in the market for SCSI related gear, this is the only company to deal with.
Since I started dealing with them, they have consistently had the best prices on the products I wanted. My orders always ship the same day, and the shipping rates are appropriate, unlike so many other online vendors. I've made quite a few calls to them over the years for support or for RMA requests, and I never have had trouble speaking with a rep. They have a very reasonable exchange/warranty policy, and in many cases have gone far beyond their warranty obligations to keep me happy.
