"Ordered 2 mice for my thinkpad t41 - usb optical and a cordless/optical mini mouse. Everything is high quality but it was weird that they shipped the mice separately. One was shipped the day after the first one. Oh well, another trip to the building office - but seriously, I would have waited another day to have them ship together. Weird. The T41's battery stopped working - getting a warranty replacement was pretty painless. The service was a million times better than Dell's. I gotta jack up my rating just for the best customer service I've ever had (and it was across 3 phone calls... I've spoken with Dell hundreds of times and haven't had 3 positive experiences)"
"After 2 months waiting, I decide not to buy any thing from ibm again. I have bought 3 ibm laptops..240x, t22, t40, this time I order x31 to replace old 240x. they cash my check on Feb but delay the order again and again, and finally cancel the order. I decide change my future purchase to Sony forever. btw, my t40 experience is not so good too, the battery is not fitting profectly with th body."
"Bought T41 laptop from IBM "certified" used store. Battery charger broken and fixed after various calls. They say for warranty info call their 800 number (product came with a 1 year warranty), but, no one on the other end had information. Got laptop for good price and would buy from them again."
"Returned failed IBM 60GB IDE hard drive under warranty to Hitachi Global Storage technologies, IBM's warranty partner, they keep delaying shipment of replacement. They received bad drive 3/20, now ay they will ship replacement 4/25. Worst warranty service I've ever seen."
"I ordered a laptop with a built-in wireless network card. They shipped me a laptop with an external wireless card. The laptop arrived without a reciept. When I called IBM told me that I had ordered the unit I received and the receipt was forthcoming via mail. I told them the unit I received sold for a few hundred dollars less than the unit I paid for, because of the external wireless card. The IBM rep steamrolled over me and told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Since I had no official receipt and since I was getting nowhere with the service rep, I decided to wait for the receipt in the mail. It never came. I called again several weeks later and a rep told me then that he would fax me a receipt right away. It never arrived. I called again and was told that too much time had elapsed for them to send me my receipt.
So I got stuck with an inferior laptop that I paid too much for. Plus I have no paperwork to file (for my company) to prove I even bought the thing. The laptop is a good machine, but IBM's order processing and service are deplorable.
It is incredible that IBM can get away with such terrible service and still run those ads on TV"
"Got a good deal on a ThinkPad in an eBay buy-it-now sale. Very pleased with buying experience. But the hard drive stopped working a couple weeks ago. I called IBM and they said they would send a new drive immediately. Five days later, I called again, and they said the FRU number had changed and they would ship it right away via overnight express. (I don't know why they had to wait for my phone call to do this.) After another five days I called again and they said that that drive is out of stock and back-ordered, and they have no idea when any new ones will come in. So I have no computer for an indeterminate period of time. So much for IBM warranty service."
"Never will buy another IBM. Many replacement parts had to get the BBB involved."
