"It appears the product (Hall's surgical black arkansas stone) I received to be a second. (Looking back now, the price appears to reflect that). I could have bought from somewhere else(namely Hall's website) and maybe receive the same product with a better finish and cut for a bit more somewhere else. I wish the description would say as such. I've bought old used sharpening stones cut more uniformly with a better finish. Go figure. However, for those looking for a functional product at a lower price, this merchant may be a viable choice. The knife I bought with the order on the other hand was an awesome deal. However, the stone was the main reason why I placed the order with this merchant. Thank god it was not a gift for a family member. Perhaps all the stones are cut the same from Hall's, and the stone that I bought is a first, not a second. In that case this merchant would definitely be the place to shop at and my review would be invalid. YMMV
