"I had an excellent first experience hiring from LensesForHire.co.uk, even if there was an initial complication.

I ordered a Nikon AF-S DX 17-55mm f/2.8 G IF-ED both because I was shooting at a friend's reception and because I wanted to check the lens out with a view buying one. Unfortunately the live availability chart wasn't working properly and it turned out that all copies of the lens were reserved.

Instead I was offered either the Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 G ED (a more expensive lens but for the same price) or the Tamron/N SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD (IF) which was much cheaper, or to cancel the order without charge. I chose the Tamron since I wanted the wider angle.

This communcation regarding the lens being out of stock came very shortly after I ordered and so I was still able to select the Tamron and have it go out in the post that afternoon. From there on everything was exactly as the website says it will be. It arrived the following day, the day before my hire period began. It was properly and safely packed and had a return label included. I returned the lens in person because I work close enough for that to be easy at lunchtime.

I'm a little surprised, like other reviewers, that it took three weeks to get back to me to confirm that the lens condition was fine, but that's absolutely the only gripe I could find with the service.
