"I made one purchase a few years ago. That was a satisfactory experience. I then started receiving very frequent email advertising. OK, I was on their list as a customer. So I clicked the Unsubscribe link, and my unsubscription was confirmed by email.

The email continued unabated. This now constitutes SPAM. I tried the Unsubscribe link again - equally ineffective. I tried calling customer service, in the days when you could get to speak to someone (that seems to have changed), and the agent confirmed my unsubscription. The SPAM continued.

After submitting a webform complaint, I was telephoned by a specific person who researched this and found that there was "another listserve" in use that had not been updated. He removed my address from that one - thanks. The SPAM stopped (celebration!) .....

..... for 19 months, and then started again. Clearly they have a system that repopulates their mailing list with historical data, regardless of the customers' wishes. The Unsubscribe link continues to be ineffective. The provided phone number (when you can eventually track it down) is merely recorded advertising, 3rd party I believe, and doesn't allow you to speak to anyone (I listened for at least 20 minutes to see if this option would arise). Replying to the SPAM emails has achieved nothing. In short, there is no way to contact anyone to correct this. Email to the previously helpful person was returned as undeliverable (he was wise enough to leave?)

I have now filed two complaints with the FTC, since Luggage Factory is clearly in contravention of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Nothing has changed as yet.

In case you're wondering, I did eventually blacklist their email address. But the most recent bout of SPAM is coming from a new address. Yes I could blacklist this one too, but for some perverse reason I want to see just how bad their policy is. I cannot register official complaints without full data.

I have the record of email that supports the account presented here (including 109 instances of SPAM this year, and that misses a month when I deleted them from my email server without downloading). If you don't wish to be targetted the same way, I strongly recommend not giving Luggage Factory your email address. That probably means not buying anything from them. There are far more ethical companies out there who deserve your custom. If you choose to use this company, don't say I didn't warn you!"
