"MTD.s shipping system is poor. They use smart post and it added 2 days to my shipping time. Shipping from OHoi to NY via UP or Fedex Gnd is 2 days. Instead they ship to the USPS distribution canter in MA, then the USPS takes 2-3 days more to get it to you. You have no option for shipping method, and we are paying the shipping . If they shipped free and had some super saver , that might be different. These are replacement parts for machines we rely on , not frivilous goods. Update9/09 After receiving the part, a wheel for a push weedwacker, it was not a direct replacement. The wheel used by troy bilt was 1" taller than a wheel that could be bought at tractor supply for 1/2 the money. The wheel received was the same one that Tractor supply sells. So I went to tractor supply to buy another so I have a matched pair. this also changes the angle for the trimmer head. I thought about sending the wheel back, but it is just not worth the hassle"

"I have had the same experience that other reviewers had. There was a confirmation of the order by email, then, no other communications. I was charged for one of two items that I ordered but, after 14 days have not seen or heard about the status of the item, other than the paper invoice showing it was shipped 14 days ago by "FEDEX SMARTPOST". The second item I ordered was on the invoice with a 0 ship quantity. I have to assume that they did not have it in stock? Will they be shipping it at some later time and charging me then? This company just does not "get" the requirements for customer service that would entice a customer to ever place another order. I know that I would never deal with them again."

"I have ordered from this company several times now. The prices are not great, but not horrible. They are very close to what I can get at the local dealer. I often buy parts from here because all of the local dealers have to order the parts I need anyway, and they are usually only open M-F 8-5, so it is hard to order from the local guys. The website, of course, is open 24-7, so ordering is very convenient, so it is usually worth paying a few extra dollars for shipping rather than having to spend my lunch hour driving across town twice - once to order, and once to pick it up.

Here are the downsides: Their website is not very good.

The first problem is the login process. For some reason they made me enter a username, in addition to my email address, so I can only login using my username. Other places on the website will only let you log in with an email address, but since I can only log in with my username, I can't log in. I can only log in from the home page - all other pages won't let me log in. Stupid!

The second problem is far worse. There is zero communication about orders. In my order history I have orders back to the beginning of 2007, and they all say 'Pending'. They don't send out order status updates or tracking numbers. If a part is backordered they just don't send it, but they don't tell you why. For example, I ordered 2 parts on 5/25/08. One of them arrived a week later. The second part arrived today, 8/4/08. No communication from the company saying what was going on. To find out anything, you have to call their number, and hope that you reach someone who can figure out how to look up an order, and hope that the computers are "up". Even then you will probably get the verbal equivalent of shoulder shrugging.

Come on, guys, it's 2008! This stuff isn't rocket science, it customer service. Customers like to be able to look up order status, and really like tracking numbers! The technology is out there, it's inexpensive, and it's easy to implement.

I would order from this company again, but they definitely have shortcomings with their customer service and website. If you can, shop with a local company. If need to order online, well, it will probably be OK, just don't expect things like a tracking number!

"I purchased a lawn mower belt at buymtdonline.com, because they sell genuine MTD parts. The belt was about $9 and shipping was $6.49. I didn't have a problem with the cost for shipping, since my order and e-mail confirmation both stated it would be shipped UPS or Fed Ex. These courier companies both provide tracking numbers and have quick delivery. Instead, the package arrived one week later via USPS. I contacted customer service to let them know this was misleading as well as an overcharge on shipping. When I called, their computers were down and they couldn't look up my order. When I told them my complaint, the customer service rep said, "That's just how it is. I can't do anything about it." Wow! How rude. I would never buy from this company again based upon their poor customer service, their misleading tactics, and their trumped up shipping charges. Major thumbs down."

"BuyMTDOnline had the part I needed at the cheapest price I could find. After finding the part number on another site I had used thier site. I had called to comfirm the part number and than during the phone call decided to place the order online instead of over the phone. Order was placed, but did not recieve a comfirmation email. The following week after no emails, I ended up calling. They said it had been given a tracking number but had not shipped. The item arrived that day.

There are only a few complaints. The email comfirmation being one of them. I did not recieve it until I actually got my part in the mail. Customers like to be able to track orders. Also creating accounts are annoying just to find out shipping. Very quick shipping, but you dont get a choice for ground or next day. All in all I would buy from this dealing again.
