"My second Maingear! I'm a lifer! Fast, durable and dependable. My five year old tower is still running like a dream. I just bought a laptop for business after loving the tower at home."
"Great computer from a great company. Got a Maingear Vybe. I customized it by putting in an SSD and changed the graphics card to an Nvidia GTX 760. I use the computer mostly web, e-mail and home financial stuff but also for X-Plane 10 and Microsoft FSX driving two monitors (might go to 3 monitors eventually). The computer is scream'n fast and no junk software pre-installed. I went with Windows 7 pro as the OS (considering a pc version of Linux in the future after using it at work).
A pleasant surprise was the quality of the sound card. I had always assumed that the speakers that came with my old HP were junk and that is why the sound was just OK. Turns out it was the sound card in the HP that was junk. The Maingear Vybe has incredible sound with the standard sound card.
The order process went smoothly with almost daily e-mails on the ordering process, build status, and shipping info (shipped from NJ to CO). The computer was very well packaged and comes with an enclosed 3 ring binder of useful info.
Price for the system was very competitive with other systems. Individual components were a little pricey but the build quality and experience are worth it in my opinion.
It took about a week to build and test my system. Oder date was Mon 4/21/2014, ship date was Tue 4/29/2014."
"This is my second order from Maingear, to replace my first Maingear computer with an even better model. I have been a HUGE Maingear fan since the start. Needless to say, I've been extremely disappointed by the following events.
9/18 - Order placed for a Vybe. Estimated ship date 10/2
10/7 - Vybe shipped via will call. Over the first week, the computer crashed several times to a black screen.
10/17 - I called support (very friendly/patient. I forget his name), and the crashing issue was resolved. During the call, the support rep had me open the case and describe some things. We realized that the machine had liquid cooling instead of a heat sink. The rep put me on hold to check my order, and when he came back he told me that I had been upgraded to liquid cooling as a courtesy. I made the incorrect assumption that this was because of the delayed shipment.
10/19 - While installing a color profile for a new monitor, I realized that the graphics card is a 980 ti, instead of a 980. I was impressed, and again assumed this was part of a courtesy upgrade, since that was what I was told.
10/27 - I got my first call from Maingear by a guy named Jake. He told me that I have received the wrong computer, and that they want me to send back the computer I've been using for three weeks. I raised a concern that I didn't want to send back my SSD with all my information on it. I was put on hold and told that I could keep the SSD. They would ship the correct computer to me, then I would swap the drive to it and ship back the incorrect computer by driving to a fed ex drop-off location. Jake was very polite.
10/28 - After looking up fed ex locations, I sent an email to Maingear saying that I didn't feel like I should be responsible for going out of my way to make the drop off. Ron Reed responded that they could send someone to my house to do the swap instead, and that I'd be bumped up to a 3 year warranty for my trouble. I told them that I did not want someone coming inside my house, and that solution didn't work for me.*
10/29 - I responded that I decided I would rather just get a refund and cancel my order, and return the incorrect shipment to them. Ron pushed back, insisting that he was being accommodating. I called and asked Ron to give me a call back, and he did. Ron told me that they don't pay for shipping on returns. I said that I didn't think that of this as a normal situation, since I didn't want to return the computer in the first place until they made a mistake. Ron responded "I know, that's why we waived the restocking fee." This came off as rude. Ron then proceeded to lecture me on how I should have let them come into my house and change the computer instead. He also said that they could have sent fed ex to my house to pick up the box. This is something that had never been offered to me previously, and wasn't offered to me at the time, either. He just said that they could have. He told me that they had increased the value of my order by extending the warranty to 3 years. I responded that a 3 year warranty doesn't have much value to me since I replaced my last computer after 14 months, and might do the same next time. After 10 minutes of the conversation going no where, I told Ron I had to go, and that I would call him back the next with a decision on how I would like to proceed, and Ron said that was okay.
10/29 - That night, I got an email from Ron saying that his inventory team would expect the return without the SSD, and that I would be receiving a prepaid fed ex shipping label. I found this to be presumptuous, considering I had not decided how I wanted to proceed, and especially considering that my original complaint was that I felt I shouldn't be responsible for driving to a fed ex location in the first place. I also don't have a box to put it in, since I threw the original packaging out after 10 days of owning it.
During this entire process, I've felt like Maingear has been trying to coerce me to accommodate them in fixing THEIR mistake for them. On top of all of that, Ron Reed was rude to me every step of the way.
Now, as I'm doing them a favor and returning a computer that I have no obligation to return, every time they say that they agree to make things easy on me in one way, they turn around and make it difficult in another way. I'm not going to drive to fedex or Kenilworth. I don't want someone in my house. I'm not giving the computer back without a full refund. I'm not giving back the SSD with my tax info on it. I don't feel that I'm being unreasonable considering the circumstances.
* footnote * I don't want in-home support. I don't like letting people into my house. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 roommates. I had in-home support with Alienware, and I didn't make use of it then, either. It was a main reason I chose a local company, so I could drop off the computer for support if I needed to."
"Besides the occasional Windows 8.1 issues, I've had no regrets and am extremely happy with the quality and performance of my system. I purchased the Vybe [R9-280x, Core I7, 16GB] and can easily run BF4 or TitanFall at ultra settings with gameplay >70FPS most of the time. "
"I received my Maingear Nomad 17 near the end of May 2014. It is very fast and all is working great. The quality of workmanship is excellent.

"With the impeding demise of XP, and my then current PC showing it's age I decided to upgrade to a new one. After doing research with the big manufacturers (Dell & Lenovo) and not finding the combo of speed, OS and price i was looking for I did some research and found Maingear.
I ordered a Vybe, with 32Gb ram, GTX 780, Win 7 Pro and a 2Gb hybrid HD, with a 3Gb second / bu HD.
Ordering was easy, delivery was a little later than promised, but certainly worth the wait of an extra week.
My new PC is now much faster and I couldn't be happier. thank you Maingear and excellent product and I will order from you again in the future.

"I purchased a customized Vybe from Maingear and it met or exceeded all my expectations. I've had no issues with the computer and everything was as I had ordered. It was shipped a day after the estimated shipping date, but it arrived at my house faster than what they projected. I usually build my own gaming computers, but decided to give Maingear a try, based on all the favorable reviews I read. As for price, you get what you pay for... a higher quality build with high end parts comes at a higher price than the low cost builders. Worth every penny!"
"I got a NOMAD 15 fully customized laptop last month and so far I am loving it. Its clean (no unnecessary software etc.) , I was able to spec it out exactly I wanted it.
I was looking at couple of other custom laptop sites, but I choose main gear because of the value per dollar I got with them. my display looks great, which is often a worry with custom display laptops. If you're in the market for custom built laptops you need to stop by Maingear.
Overall I give them an A+.

"I originally ordered a Pulse 17 gaming laptop but decided to get a Vybe Ultimate desktop instead. They were very accommodating and I found the quality of their service to be excellent. Every time I made an inquiry either via phone or email I received a reply very quickly. They also ordered a beautiful white chassis that was currently out of stock for no additional charge. Jeremy C. who works in sales/support was especially helpful.
So far the Vybe has been performing perfectly. It has significantly increased my productivity for work and it handles graphically demanding games with ease. I think pricing is fair for the quality of service you receive and the attention they put into each unit - even their packaging to keep your PC safe during shipping is superior to other competitors. My only regret is I did not purchase a PC through them sooner. I hope this Vybe lasts a few years. I would certainly be interested in purchasing another desktop from Maingear in the future. "
"Purchased a Maingear Vybe for gaming....and I'm loving it! Motherboard bios needed an update to be stable but Maingear quickly resolved the issue. Not totally unexpected when you are buying the latest and greatest components. Very good quality and customer service."
"Over the past four years, I've purchased three Maingear machines, 2 Vybes and an F131 - and they are all great. The 'antique' Vybe is now about 3 1/2 years old and today I had the first real problem I've had with it - which I guess is not surprising since I use it a lot. I spoke with the first level tech support person at Maingear today and we went through several potential fixes, none of which worked and so he kicked me up a level to the incredible Sal. He went above and beyond what I was expecting from customer service and helped me clearly and patiently step by step basically deconstruct my machine until we figured out that the video card had died (kind of understandable considering how much I've used this machine over the years) - and he ordered a replacement video card for me. Amazing quality of customer service - which is why I keep coming back and recommending Maingear to everyone. I have nothing but the highest regard for this company on all levels"
"I purchased the Potenza Super Stock from Maingear in March 2014.
From the excellent assistance via online chat to help me with the configuration, to the on-time delivery of my wonderful new Potenza computer, Maingear's service was outstanding. But the best part, of course, is the superb Potenza itself! It is fast, quiet, and does not generate the heat my previous computer did. The design is sleek, and ports are so easy to access. Love love love! Cherry on top - made in the USA! I highly recommend buying your next computer from this customer-oriented company. Thank you Maingear!

"I heard about Maingear on C-Net.com. They gave it a 5 star rating. I was looking for a powerful PC to Edit and Process videos. I own a small video production business and I have to not only shoot the video but I have to edit by myself also. I needed a powerful but affordable PC and Maingear custom built one for me that went beyond my expectations. I look forward to doing business with them again in the future.
Thanks

"I was very impressed with the whole process At Maingear. I received email status updates over the two weeks it took to build my PC. You can tell quality of their PCs and customer service our priority. "
"Such a great company! You can really tell that everyone involved cares about the process and the end result (which in this case was a "first gaming computer" for my son, who is thrilled). Pricing is more than fair, and the computer is of outstanding quality. Thank you, thank you, thank you :)"
"I learned of Maingear from my son, who had them build a supercomputer for him.
I am very satisfied with the desktop computer Maingear built for me. It is very fast, the display looks beautiful with the video card they installed, and I didn't have to learn Windows 8, because they built it with Windows 7, as I requested.
I also liked that they kept me informed of the building process via Email throughout the build.
I highly recommend them!"
