"My second Maingear! I'm a lifer! Fast, durable and dependable. My five year old tower is still running like a dream. I just bought a laptop for business after loving the tower at home."
"I ordered my PC a couple months ago. It came in a couple days later than expected, probably due to the fact that it was projected around a weekend/federal holiday. No big deal.
The machine is flawless. It's easily the best PC I've ever owned. You won't find a better hand built PC at this price. Period. I shopped around for quite some time, as I really wanted something unique. On top of that, they don't load up the PC with useless software like most of your typical PC companies would. No silly trial versions of Office or other random software.
I've already forwarded their website to several people I know, and will continue to recommend this company whenever they're shopping for a new PC."
"They were fantastic! In spite of some billing issues, they completed my computer on time, shipped it, and got everything sorted in the time it would have taken if there were NO issues. The computer is fantastic, it runs great, and I've already recommended MainGear to two different friends.
Biggest saving grace of MainGear? They offer computers with Windows 7. Until Windows gets itself together and fixes the deplorable system of Windows 8, I'll be working off of this platform. Thanks Maingear! You're the best!"
"Excellent, very well built and great customer service"
"The Maingear Pulse 17 has exceeded all expectations and runs like an ascetically pleasing high performance machine. Maingear did a great job of keeping me informed during the different stages from order to shipped.
Will definitely be looking into more purchases from them in the future.

"I work for a VAR who is also a Technology Service Provider here in Salt Lake City, UT. One of our customers runs a lot of high end software such as AutoCAD and ReVit. Both of these are enigneering applications. The customer at one time was running quite a few name brand workstation class Computers with Xeon processors and normally 12GB or 16GB of memory. Over the years, it became very apparent that the hardware was not keeping up with the software upgrades, so one of the IT folks suggested they try out a Maingear machine. They tried one out and it worked much better than the name brand workstations that we were all amazed. In fact, some ROI analysis showed that the additional cost of the Maingear machines paid for themselves in less than 3 weeks.
It has been almost 3 years since that first Maingear was ordered in and since that time this customer has over 30 Maingear machines in use.
We also found a local company that built machines similar to the Maingear, so the customer tried those out as well by ordering two of them. However, the workmanship and quality did not come close to what we have found in the Maingear. I would recommend a Maingear PC to anyone who needs a powerful PC for gaming or work."
"I've been holding off for awhile to write this review because I wanted so desperately to like Maingear and the computer I ordered from them. But after almost a year and a half I have settled on the fact that the computer and the customer service I've received just aren't what I'd expect for the price paid.
In November of 2012 I ordered a Nomad 17 laptop, with top of the line parts and was beyond excited to get a quality machine. After the order, like others, I waited for my status to update. It never did. In fact I, like others, had to persist to get information on when the computer would even be started because according to the status it hadn't. Finally the machine was shipped 4 days after the original estimate. Fine, I can deal with that.
When I received the machine I wasn't stunned or shocked by it. I was told I would receive a hard drive enclosure to add a second 2.5" drive to the laptop. That never came. I called and asked about it and was told that it was already attached in the machine. It was not. So the second hard drive was never able to properly secure to the laptop, and if it got jostled too much in transportation it would slide right off the connector. The machine also always had rubber sticking out from the keyboard in one corner from it sliding off the inside. Not make or break issues, but for the money I wasn't thrilled.
As the end of the first year rolled around I called to ask about audio problems I was having. The response I got was to ship it in at my expense if I wanted to. It wasn't that big of a deal so I declined because not having my computer for an extended period of time was outside the question.
And now I sit 1 year and 4 months after purchase without the computer at all. While working on the machine a week ago it simply shut off and would not power on. I contacted support with a few things I had tried and in a brief and non-explantory email said to check the power without each stick of ram. With no help on how to open up the computer to check the ram I finally got it open. A phone call or a set of instructions on how to access the ram under the keyboard would have been a huge help. But they did not give nor offer any real help.
After my response that it did not work I was told to ship it in at my expense and they would look at it. So I did that. They received the machine, and the only reason I knew that was due to a tracking number. No contact for two days after it was received and I finally called in to ask. I spoke to someone in support who transferred me to RMA. They didn't answer. After leaving a message I waited for a call back. Instead I got an email a few hours later stating it would be 2 weeks before the computer would be looked at. Why wouldn't that have been told to me a week ago before I sent it in? I should have asked the lead time, and had they have told me how swamped they were I would have taken it in for local service. Now I am without the computer, stuck waiting, and still wondering if the machine will even function anymore.
Maingear's machine was always just "decent" in my opinion. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The customer service though and communication is where the company is lacking. This experience isn't much better than dealing with larger companies with their overseas call centers. Would I spend the money on a machine from them again? Not a chance.
Update: 3/3/14
After writing this review I received a call within 30 minutes from the Support Manager and he began by apologizing for the experience I have had with Maingear thus far. He stated that this is not how they typically handle things, and in regards to my specific string of issues admitted that it was handled poorly and not to their satisfaction.
He started by taking the computer and running the diagnostics immediately, had the machine fixed the next day, and shipped the following after a string of tests. Wow. That was above and beyond. He was incredibly generous, attentive, and made the process smooth. Would I recommend Maingear now? Yes, but to make the process better I'd recommend people call and talk with the customer service departments for clarification. When it comes to support, ask questions. Get answers. And never be afraid to ask for the manager to get clarification if you need it.
With that said, I will add 2 stars to my previous review due to this one person's help throughout the process and his ability to help make the experience better."
"I purchased the top of the line Vybe system on 7 Oct 2013. I received the order o/a 21 Oct. Nobody has contacted me or asked me to do a review. This is an important clarification for any folks out there that appreciate an unfiltered and reasonably objective review. In fact, this is my first review for anything, period.
After taking 6 months deciding whether to build myself or buy from a custom builder, I settled on the Vybe. At the time of purchase, it had the best price for performance concerning gaming when comparing well established and reputable custom builders. I am sure I missed a mom and pop type builder out there with a better price. However, with a major company you get a little more peace of mind, plus the warranty.
The ordering and shipping process made me feel extra comfortable after throwing down $2300. I received almost everything ordered but the T-shirt. That's ok since I think I am too cool to walk around as an advertisement for a computer company. My concern here is the lack of attention to detail. This makes me wonder how often does Maingear miss details in their orders? Sometimes it's forgetting to include a silly tshirt, others maybe its forgetting a component, software, or failure to test in one area. For thousands of dollars, this should never happen.
That is my only complaint, however. The system runs better than my wife's new Mac laptop.
Although purchased for gaming power, I also use it for word processing and presentations.
I can run the most graphically demanding games on the absolute highest settings. This is with the 16GB of Ram, the 256GB SSD, 2 TB HD, and 2 x GTX 770 NVIDIA GPUs.
If anyone has questions, reply to this thread. Maingear is a great option for a custom builder and gives you a little more bang for your dollar.
I will go through them again. Thanks for a great system, Maingear. "
"Very happy with my recent Maingear purchase: Daily update, quick delivery, good feedback on my questions. A little more expensive then my previous mainstream purchase but worth it for the total quality parts and design."
"Absolutely Amazing !!!
I cannot say enough about the professionalism MainGear has, not only with a great Rig they built but with the outstanding customer service.
I have purchased game rigs from three other companies the past couple of years and by far MainGear has surpassed them all.
I placed my order and received a confirmation the same day. The build updates are great, especially when they are ahead of schedule!
I received my rig four days earlier, freakn awesome!
When it arrived, it was packaged flawlessly, nothing was out of place or shaken lose.
I plugged her in and she fired right up and I have been gaming ever since. I have not had one hick-up, crash, freeze this thing runs so quiet and smooth.
I am a huge AMD fan and they had everything I wanted and more.
I cannot recommend them enough to noob gamers or vets, they will far exceed you expectations.

"I have to say... I had no idea I could be this blown away by a computer company. Sure, you can spec out the parts and build one yourself, but you will miss out on the main gear case, the ridiculous clean, tidy interior, the customer service, the steep by step start up packets, etc etc. Maingear is to other major computer companies as Ferrari is to Ford."
"The computer is wonderful, the service... not so much.
What you can expect:
- A really well-made computer for a fair price
- Underwhelming customer service
Missing a game promised as part of your order? It's your responsibility to follow up with them, they may or may not respond.
If you want them to take action you'll probably need to post somewhere like reseller ratings to get their attention. But hey, they're the ones who sent me a form email asking me to come here and rate them.
"
"I would like to express my appreciation to Sal at Maingear for repairing my four year old desktop. Their policy of charging only for parts made the expense minimal and allowed me to upgrade the main drive to a solid-state one.
I got the machine back yesterday, re-imaged the boot drive with Acronis, and it runs like a top. It has never been faster!
I do not anticipate buying a computer from anyone else, and will be contacting them regarding the purchase of a photo editing notebook very soon.
"
"I've always built my own machines but these days I've got too much work to worry about procuring parts. After comparing some of the higher end workstations around, MAINGEAR got to the top of my list.
When it arrived and I unboxed my beefy new machine I was able to get it up and running without a hitch. The machine came without any bloat-ware and setup to maximize speed.
The case is well designed (I got the Vybe) with cool red bars running around the corners and the rest is in matte black. It's not the cheap plastic case you'll find with the bigger brand names, this is hefty and solid. The USB (2 and 3) ports are available on the top and back of the case and the face is minimalist -- just how I like it.
Open the case up, although you can see through the plexiglas panel as well, and you can admire the care taken to organize the cables and install everything cleanly along with the beautiful hardware installed.
The only con I can think of is the packaging and the manual. I've probably been spoiled with the Apple and Google packaging and paperwork. But the packaging has no real bearing on the years of enjoyment to be gained from the machine.
Overall, I would recommend MAINGEAR to anyone looking for a new PC. Fantastic machine!"
"I really recommend MainGear . The computer I ordered is excellent. It was delivered on time and it is a truly excellent computer. Note I am 61 years old, and this is my seventh computer and it is well worth the ~$2100 I spent on it. The only problem that I had is initially I, stupidly, was trying to use the wrong input for the video. That input worked for a short time but when I got hold of customer support they told me it should not have been active and told me the right input to use (which I should have spotted).
I am really happy with the computer.

"This is the first Maingear desktop I've purchased. I've had it for a month now and I love it. The ordering process was simple and I was able to customize it just how I wanted. The prices were very good compared to their competitors. Customer service, from pre-order (I spoke to a sales rep for help), order (simple), build (they kept me informed every step of the way), delivery (arrived when promised) and post-delivery (plug it in and go!) has been exceptional. They installed absolutely zero crapware. They are very personal in their approach and responded to every one of my calls and emails very quickly and helpfully. You are not just a number to them. Highly recommended!"
