"WARNING! BAIT AND SWITCH!!! BEWARE OF MarineEngine.com I just got off the phone with Jay (customer service) and James his supervisor after a long frustrating attempt to understand why I was sent a different marine alternator than the one I had purchased. I ordered a Sierra brand at $189.00 plus shipping but recieved a Mando brand which they dont even show on their website but sells for about $150.00 everywhere. Both Jay and then James told me that when ordering one brand I could actually have been shipped one of several brands, and that they are all the same and come from the same factory. In fact I was told if I had ordered the Mercury brand at about $275.00 I still might have recieved the same Mando which I can buy for $150.00. WHAAAT? Why would a shopper pay more for a specific product and then accept another brand which is cheaper. James even contradicted himself when he mentioned that the sierra brand has a better warranty than the mercruiser brand, I told him I wished I had gotten the sierra part that I had ordered. Jay and James tried their hardest to talk me into believing that this is ok. This is dishonest and fraudulent. No one would let this happen whether online or in person. The customer has the right to get the exact part he paid for. If any substitutions are to be made it should be only with the customers permission. How about a disclosure on the webpage saying you might get a different brand? MarineEngine.com is doing is what is called the bait and switch, advertising one product at a higher price but giving you a cheaper item. The most insulting part is that they expect the customer to accept their lame explaination for this practice when it is widely known to be dishonest and is illegal in most places. They did agree to refund my money but not the shipping at first, after some more discussion the supervisor ageed to refund all my money. He still continued to try to jive me to the point where I became so disgusted with the blatant dishonesty and lies that I hung up the phone. I will continue processing my refund online as I cant stand to talk to them anymore. WARNING! Dont use this online store because you might not get what you pay for!"
