"Definitely a rip off company. Do not order from them. The business address is a residential address and all the reviews are either 1 star or 5. Tells me the 5 stars are as fake as they sound. "john really helped me out and went above and beyond the call of duty" BS. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM"
" My husband (unfortunately) doesn't check into reviews of a company before using them. He ordered a Canon Rebel T3i for me for Valentine's day as a surprise. He PAID EXTRA a good bit for it to be overnighted. He ordered it on Feb 6. GUESS WHAT! We are still waiting. First they say that it was due to the blizzard.. ok well if it had been overnight like it was supposed to, it would have been sent before the blizzard struck. They said it would ship shortly, bla bla bla.. Ok, well then he calls them because it's still just "ready to be shipped" days later in order status. NOW they say that ours was damaged, and ASKED HIM IF HE WANTED A DAMAGED PRODUCT, BECAUSE IF SO, THEY COULD SEND IT LIKE IT IS! That is the most rude, unprofessional thing I've ever heard. He agreed to wait, since they said it should be here by Monday. Well, it's Saturday, so it would have had to have shipped yesterday or today in order to possibly be here Monday. So they've lied. I'm starting to think they are rip-offs. And if they pull some crap, don't worry I'll file all the complaints with all the right agencies. I just want my camera. We paid almost what it goes for on Amazon, with the extra shipping. If it's not here by Tuesday, I'm cancelling and ordering it from Amazon. And that money better come back on my card in a reasonable amount of time. If they want to correct this issue, then I will revise this review. If not, then I'll put this same review on every website I can. You can't mess with people's money like this. The odds aren't looking to good, considering we've already been given 2 different stories.
Edit: Went ahead and cancelled the order today, just figured I wasn't going to get the product. Got an email confirmation, so as long as they credit my bank account in a reasonable amount of time, I'll be back to edit again. "
"BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!JOHN QUAGIN IS A LIAR! This company should be out of business!!!!! Nothing that was promised to me came to fruition!! Their cusomer service (if thats what you want to call it!) told me several different stories not one of them the truth. ****PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM MELLODIGITAL******** You will wait and wait and be lied to and wait then be lied to again and after all that they will wait as long as they can to refund your money! These guys should be investigated by the commerce dept! Their prices were so low (Red Flag) that I forgot what my parents used to tell me, If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. I should have heeded that warning. I have read one bad review after another and I feel foolish for still thinking it will be different with my purchase! NOT!
After I got my money back I went to B&H Photo, Wow what a difference, great prices and even better customer service. Thank You B&H Photo for restoring my faith in ordering online. "
"Same story as the others ordered on 12/20/2012. Hit my card on 2/1/2013 as of 2/13/2013 no ship. I would stay away these jokers."
"All the reviews that indicated the "bait-and-switch" are on target. I even called before I ordered a flash unit and the rep said that the unit was in stock. The next day I got a phone call wherein the rep said that the flash was not in stock but that could sell me a Vivitar instead. If a product price is too good to be true, there is a reason for that. MelloDigital proves that point."
"I placed an order and was charged for it on Jan 29 2013. I was told that it was in stock and would be delivered in 7 days. On Feb 11th I called, and was told that the order was delayed because it was back-ordered.
I wrote and email, and was told the order was delayed "Your order should be shipping out shortly. We are currently backed up due to the blizzard we received over the weekend on the east coast. I apologize for the delay."
The Blizzard struck on the 8th of Feb, AFTER the item was to have been deliverd.
I called again to get the real answer, and was told by "John Quagen" a differing story after I challenged him on the reason for the delay. He tried to tell me that I placed the order on the 31st of Jan, not the 29th as clearly stated in the "MelloDigital.com order status update: ", and was charged on my card on the 28th of Jan.
John was rude and disrecptful to me on the phone when I asked why I was told it was shipped when in fact that it was "backordered", and.. after an outburst told me the order was canceled!
Avoid this place....."
"Bait and switch! This practice is illegal in California. I don't know how they get away with it. Don't they have a Department If Consumer Affairs in New York? They refused to ship my order when I wouldn't change to an off-brand product. They showed that they had in stock the Canon oem products that I wanted, and they showed that they were in shipping, ready to be shipped, but they refused to ship them. This is illegal, unethical and this company needs to be shut down by the state of New York."
"This store sucks, the old bate and switch. Ordered one Nikonsb700 speedlight and I was told it was backordered from the factory. They ended up sending me a Sigma EF-610 for retail price. "
"Well I didn't read the reviews before I placed my order, or before writing this review; but I did read them after writing this review and I see I was right on the money. I ordered the Canon 430EX 11 on Dec. 14, 2012. I was called and told that it was on backorder for 4 weeks but they would send me a Vivitar, which was a better flash, for the same price. I told them I would get back with them after I did some research. Someone called me the next day offering the Vititar for $20 less. I told them I hadn't been able to do my research yet and would call them back when I decided. I couldn't find any info about the flash they wanted to substitute, so, I cancelled my order the next time they called (and after reading these reviews, boy am I glad I did.) On Jan 20, 2013, I checked their website and it said the flash was in stock (which is what it said when I originally ordered it on Dec 14, 2012). On Jan 21,I called to ask them if the 430Ex 11 was in stock and I was told it was out of stock nationally, that no one has it. Asked them if they were aware that it said it was in stock on their website. They were...but it's not. The old bait and switch--I thought that was against the law. They offer the flash for the lowest price, and then tell people it's out of stock but they have a better deal for you at the same or lower price. But when the better deal turns out to be a piece of junk, they won't take it back.
Jan 29, 2013 I am editing this review because mellodigital contacted me to work something out. I will keep you posted and update further if need be.
Feb 28, 2013 This would be comical if this company wasn't so disgusting. As you can see by the dates, it has been a month since I updated my review. I was called by a young man from Mellodigital on or about Jan 29. He said he wanted to make up for the confusion. He wanted to know if I sill wanted the flash. I told him I had already purchased one. So he said he would send an extra battery. We already had all that so I asked him if there was a flash for shooting videos. He said yes and that he would send one out as soon as I updated my review. I told him that I would update my review as soon as my grandson received the flash. He said he couldn't send it until I upgraded the review. I told him that it was no big deal; I could buy a flash, so he said ok he would send the flash. Well, that flash has not shown up yet
and I am not surprised. I had updated to 2 stars and probably would have given them 3 if the flash had shown up, but since it hasn't I am changing it back to 1 star. If I could I would give them -1 star. I really would advise anyone reading this and contemplating doing business with these people to save yourself some time. From reading the reviews there scheme seems to be, advertise the lowest price and then tell them its on back order, but we can send you a better one for the same or lower price. Definitely bait and switch and I plan to report them to proper authorities. Bait and switch is against the law and there are enough comparable complaints here to prove bait and switch.

"I've ordered quite a bit of camera gear from mellodigital and had nothing but good service and competitive pricing. First of all these guys will take time to help you...they will not pressure you or try a "bait and switch" move just to take advantage of you. It seems like the service gets better by time also. I remember when how vendors will be nice to you the first time just to get your business and next time around, they will try something else. These guys are the real deal :) Tony had helped me so many times and showed me that a big part of their business practice is integrity. They understand that I'm a long term customer and can go the other way. Amidst of all these online stores, they are one of the few that still puts customers first before anything else. I encourage every one to give them a try and see for yourself. "

"This is a bait and switch company. They are very rude, had me in tears by the end of the call. They sold my fiance at the time a Nikon SB 700, a Christmas gift for me. Then they called him and said it was out of stock and to try the vivitar and if I dont like it, then I could return it when the Nikon was in stock (knowing this was over the holidays, they told my fiance at the time that i could still return it even though it will be over the 14 days, which I didnt even know about). Total rip off, no return policy was on the receipt. The viitar is crap, when I tried to exchange it for the correct lens and they wont do it, even with me offering to pay for shipping. They kept telling me about this 14 day return policy, I tried to explain the conversation they had with my fiance, and told them after Christmas i was out of town because i got married and after the wedding we both had the flu. I begged them to please help me and I would pay for shipping. I just want the right lens! They tricked my husband and they were weird and rude to me when I called, playing weird games, laughing at me, yelling at me, etc.. STAY AWAY. These people are crazy, and the company is a total scam. Also, I dont ever write reviews, but this experience has effected me so negatively that I had to warn everyone!!"
"Well I wanted a Nikon SB400 like another reviewer. I figured the price was excellent and the bait and switch wouldn't happen to me. WRONG!!! I placed the order anyway and sure as shootin' a bout an hour later a salesperson called to say that the SB400 was back ordered. It would take about 6 weeks and then he told me about the Vivitar. I declined and told the guy I only purchased Nikon equipment. At that point he backed down. I told him to send me an email that showed the order had been cancelled. I received it in about 15 minutes. Bait and Switch? I'm thinking it was exactly that. Lesson learned. If the price is too good to be true.....It usually is.
Today, They responded that they are very sorry and the “Thank you for contacting us.
As per checking, the item is scheduled to be delivered today.
We'll continue to monitor the tracking. Please accept our deepest apologies.””
I certainly don't want them to ship my order, because I cancelled it. I have the exact product I wanted already from another online company.

"Item I ordered was on back order and MelloDigital staff was able to recommend a better alternative at a lower price! Staff is very friendly and customer service is top notch! I will be shopping here for my future photography needs! Thank you so much! "
"I had been holding off on purchasing an external flash for my XTI for months, making up all sorts of excuses as to why I shouldn't own one. It's too big, I'll never use it, $200+ for a flash of light is obscene and on and on the excuses went. My wife surprised me by getting me one for my birthday and after using it for 6 months I couldn't be happier. How did I ever live without this thing?
I take a lot of pictures indoors of my son. He's a 9 month old boy that's not quite ready to be outside all the time. I've got the 50mm 1.8 but it just isn't fast enough in the dim lighting of our home and the on camera flash is worthless. Ever since I got this flash I'd say that 80% of the pictures I take indoors and outdoors are taken with this flash. Below is a list of all of the pro's and cons I could come up with.
Pros:
- Fast recycle time. I can take several burst shots in 1 second and the flash fires each time. You won't miss many pictures because the flash isn't ready (like with the built in flash).
- TTL is awesome. This flash is much smarter than I'll ever be. Shots are almost always perfectly exposed.
- Lots of manual controls, easy to override TTL.
- Very powerful.
- On rechargeable double A's I get 400-500 shots easy without recharging.
- High speed sync lets you take pics at any shutter speed with a flash (although the distance the flash travels is greatly reduced).
- Tilt 90 degrees /Turn 180 degrees lets you bounce of ceilings or off a wall behind you.
- AF assist is much less invasive than the horrible on camera flash assist and it really helps you focus in low light. Just a red light is send out instead of the crazy electricity storm the XTI sends out for AF assist.
- Well built. Sturdy metal foot, nice locking mechanism.
- Rear sync lets me get sharp pictures indoors with any lens I own at 1/30 of a second or even less at times.
Cons:
- The buttons are hard to push if you have big fingers.
- It's big and adds weight to the camera.
- It can't control any other flashes you may own. This flash can only act as a slave.
- Flashes are addictive, I wish I had a second or a third...
If you're thinking about the 580exII:
- The 580ex II can act as a master flash over other canon flashes without losing TTL.
- It's more powerful(58m vs 43m at ISO 100).
- The batteries last from 100-700 pics.
- It can swivel 180 degrees both ways instead of just one way and it can tilt downwards slightly.
- It's dust and water resistant
- Included bounce tab (you can just use an index card).
- I'm sure there's other things I'm missing...
- It's a lot more expensive.
- It's a little bigger and heavier.
Since getting this flash and taking around 10,000 pictures with it I can honestly say it's been the single best investment I've made towards improving my photography to date. The uses for a flash are endless. Even outdoors you'll start seeing shadows you never noticed before that you'd like to lighten up with a flash. Oh and I'm not kidding about wanting to own more than 1. After getting an umbrella and a radio trigger you quickly realize how nice it would be to have a second or even third flash to make things just perfect. Stop procrastinating and just get it. You'll be happy you did.thanks mellodigital.com

"IF YOU DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY THAN YOU ARE GOING TO BE SORRY! Don't come crying to me. BAIT AND SWITCH. Ordered Sony Tripod, got a call 2 days later. That item was "out of stock". Would I like to have a Ziekos, "cheap chinese" tripod instead. FAST TALKING GIRL on the phone started at 45.00, then said 29.00. Same item they sell on Amazon for 21.00! Tried to make it sound like I was getting a better tripod. NOPE! JUNK!!! Got horrible reviews UNLIKE the Sony tripod I WANTED. By the way, they still advertise that Sony tripod on thier website. CROOKS, EACH TIME I CALL THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE TRIPOD. Returned it AS INSTRUCTED BY THEM. Mailman tried to deliver it and left a notice, now they REFUSE TO CALL the post office to re-schedule a delivery. I'M GOING TO WRITE THE NEW YORK BUSINESS FREUD OFFICE AND FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. IF YOU BUY FROM THIS COMPANY, THEN YOU WILL GET SCREWED. UPDATE, I GOT A REFUND FINALLY ON 1/25/13. RAISED FEEDBACK TO A 2 STAR."
