"STAY AWAY! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!! HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!!!!!!!! I ordered an exercise stationary bike and 1 WEEK later I get an email indicating the item is no longer in stock. MY CREDIT CARD was CHARGED for an item I DID NOT RECEIVE!!!!!! I sent several emails and got the same response...."We are sorry this bike has been discontinued." They had NO record of my emails!!!!!!! SO NOW I am sitting here WAITING, WAITING and WAITING to speak with someone to resolve the issue!

"Worst company I ever did business with. Table & chairs took weeks to begin shipping, arrived with wrong color of chairs. It took three calls with wait times of 30 - 40 minutes each to get a customer service rep who could only give me a number - no solution to my problem. A week later I got an email to say they would ship the correct color but I still have to notice of shipment/tracking nor have I received the tag to return the big boxes of chairs taking up space in my small entry way.
Inept at suppy, at shipping, at cust. service and at returns. Go elsewhere to shop.

"SCAM ! Stay a way ! I did buy a toy for my son at 07-24-2012 as was listed for express shipping via FedEx. Imagine my face when after spending $91.15 I receive email with confirmation that order has been placed and shipping will be send to me 8/6/12 (!) As you can imagine I call them to cancel this order. SO TODAY IS almost a month later and I still do not have my money back !!!!

"Mercantila is the worst company to deal with. I ordered a hot tub from this company.. I decided to get the white glove delivery with this order because of the size. I paid an extra 150 dollars for them to come in and deliver on spot that I wanted.

Ceva is the company they deliver through. Ceva is another scammed up business in the tri state area. I called Ceva to verify an appointment for them to deliver last tuesday.. There was one guy who showed up in the truck ready to just drop the hot tub off.. I told him I got the white glove deliver and never saw the hot tub again.. It has been a week of back and forth between Mercantila and Ceva telling me that they told Ceva this and told Ceva that and its a bunch of BS! I am getting ready to cancel but because of everyones complaints.. you may see this case end up in court with me suing Mercantila!

Oh and if there were a no star button this company would be the first to get it!

"I had an easy and great experience with Mercantila. I bought a bed two weeks ago. The person I talked to was friendly and helpful. The bed was to be shipped in 3 weeks and in 2 weeks, I got an email notice from Mercantila letting me know my bed was being shipped and would be delivered on a given day. Three days before delivery, the delivery company called, got the shipment in and the bed was delivered 2 days ahead of schedule.

The bed is beautiful. We had little trouble putting it together. The color, shape, quality was as expected. Overall this was a great experience.

These other reviews scared me but I am glad that I went ahead and bought the bed at Mercantila. I would never have gotten such a great deal (low price and free shipping) anywhere else.

"DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BUNCH!!! Mercantila is a complete ripoff. I ordered two wicker rockers and they immediately charged my credit card. They did not ship though and about five days later I got an email saying they would ship in about 24 days. I then cancelled my order. Two days later I got an email from one of their reps saying he would cancel IF they had not shipped. I emailed him with a reminder that of the email saying they wouldn't ship for over three weeks. Never heard from them again. They DID NOT cancel or credit my charge card. I have now disputed it with my credit card company. It's been over a month now and nothing. CROOKS! "

"I could not agree more with the comments posted here. I placed an order for an item they represented they had. They charged my card on order. About a week later, I got an email stating that the item was discontinued and a refund would be issued. It's a month since my order and there is no refund. I'm currently on the phone with them, having started as 26th in line waiting to speak to them. More than 15 minutes later, I am 21st in line, suggesting this call will last at least an hour and 15 minutes before I speak to someone. This is my fourth call to them this morning. On the first one, I spoke to a representative, was told he needed to transfer me and I was cut off. On call number two, I chose a different option in the system. It rang 6-8 times and then cut me off. Call number three was a different phone option but the same result. On this call, I again reached a person and was transferred successfully. The long wait and other issues with connecting to customer service do not suggest a company that owns up to its failings or, much much worse, raises a question about their intentions. AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM!!"

"I purchased three of an identical item with Mercantila a few weeks ago. Once I discovered I ordered the wrong color, they quickly swapped it for the right color. In the process of locating their number to make this change I found this site and suddenly I was scared I made a bad decision to buy from them. I was nervous for a bit but when I contacted them they were very responsive to my concerns which made me feel better. As soon as the 'changed' items arrived I discovered they would not work for my intended application. Once I emailed them to tell them they responded quickly and refunded my money faster then any retailer ever has. I usually don't leave feedback on these sites but I felt it was important to share my good experience. I don't blame those with a bad experience for posting but it's important to ask yourself if they had had a good experience would they have posted good things? Probably not. Over all, I, like most others, went bought from them to save money. They had the best price. I will buy form these folks again."

"Ordered A Basic wood Frame AND swing. pictured in the advertised price was both swing and frame. upon receipt I discovered that buyer beware. even though on the bill and invoice it clearly states frame and swing in the shipment. There is a button on the site that automatically checks "do not include swing" I can't believe I fell for this. they ship the item in 2 shipments and that is no accident. so I assumed the swing was coming in another shipment and start to assemble the frame. of course it was not. now I can not return it they want me to spend another $327 minumum to get the swing. I basically paid over /$300 for a few 4x4s and some bolts. I was totally screwed by this company. This is a total scam! Ashamed to have fell for this scam. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!"

"My order was canceled by mercantila.com because their website had a pricing error on it instead of them just sending me the dining room chairs I ordered and changing their price afterward. The company didn't even try to offer any kind of compensation for my disappointment or inconvenience. Talk about poor customer service!! If I could rate them with a zero, I would."

"I had ordered a pretty expensive grill from mercantila about 4 years ago, and remember being very happy with their service, price, and quick delivery. Now, I was in the market for a Bowflex Revolution, and Mercantila (aka ZooStores) again had the best price online. With a 10% coupon code, it came to just under $1,000 delivered. The cheapest competitor was Amazon, at around $1600. Even after reading all the negative reviews, the price was too good to resist. Also,I double-checked my credit card policy to make sure I was covered for fraud.
Anyway, I decided to take the chance, and am very happy I did. I placed the order on a Fri, and they shipped out the following Mon. By Sat., the product was delivered. Everything was in good shape. It took me a couple of hours to assemble, and now I'm very happy with the Bowflex and with Mercantila.
Just a side note, I bought the matching Bowflex 5.1 bench from Ebay, had a problem with a faulty part, and was told by Bowflex that the warranty was no good since I didn't buy from an "authorized" dealer. I have no idea if I'm going to run into warranty problems with the Revolution, since I don't know if Mercantila is an authorized dealer. Anyway, I'll face that hurdle if and when necessary.

"Great price, very fast shipping. Recently I bought a pair of X Mark Fitness Pair of 50 lb Adjustable Dumbbells. At the time, the price was more than $60 below any competitor ($224), and surprisingly a %10 discount code that I found online worked to bring the price down to $201. This was almost too good to be true, seeing that the usual price range was around $350 and up. So I looked up the reviews and found a huge litany of complaints--meaning that it probably was too good to be true. I looked into it some more (I really wanted the weights at the price Mercantila offered), and I found that Mercantila.com was taken over by another company in May 2010.

So I began looking at reviews after that point, which is what finally persuaded me to take the chance (what persuaded me: pre-2010 reviews were universally so bad that it seemed like a certain scam. Post-2010 reviews were not very numerous and of the usual variety [upset with shipping time, messed up on my order, were out of stock and I wanted.]). For $201, I was resigned to wait for a month (or longer if they messed something up) because I figured that for that price, their free Fed Ex offer was nothing more than a ploy and they would ship the way that their website listed (by bulk, and after they had enough product to send to my area, which made sense for the price [and because their site said I'd have it by the end of April.)

In any case, what I found was a company that was not only very attentive (by Monday, the 2nd I had a confirmation, by the 3rd I had a Fed Ex tracking number), but everything was up to par with the efficiency that I would expect from an established company like Amazon after paying for next day shipping. (1) Their advertisement was better than accurate (they did ship by Fed Ex, and it arrived within two days--much earlier than the end of month date that was stated (2) They took care of my product, it was packaged well. (3) They kept me up to date with frequent communication. and (4) Their too good to be true price was not counter balanced by cutting corners on the quality of their service (shipping more than 100 pounds as quickly as they did was no small feat. I am more than impressed with Mercantila and would take a chance on them again. Hopefully, my experience in the future will substantiate the one that I just had. Still can't believe how much this company surpassed my expectations (which after these many reviews was quite low.)

"PayPal put the wrong shipping address on my order. Realized and called immediately and notified "Mercantila" to change shipping address. Almost impossible to get anyone by phone. Did get someone and they assured me that my address had been changed.

Order is of course delivered to wrong address. Call shipping company and they tell me I have to call seller. Again, call seller and can't get anyone. Finally I get someone "the same operator? how big is this company?". They told me there was nothing they could do. That I should call the place where it was delivered. Are you kidding????

Never order anything from this company. Pay the higher price from another company and rest assured you will get your order.

"YOU WILL REGRET ANY PURCHASE YOU MAKE DON'T DO IT!!!! Ordered 2 loft beds in December. They say " fast free FedEx delivery".
False advertising.
After waiting ONE MONTH, we found out they used a cheap shipping company called CEVA.
Upon inquiring, we learned that the order was sitting in the airport collecting dust for a month.
No apologies, nothing, they shipped when we reminded Ms. Ramos to do her job.
Upon delivery, only ONE bed arrived!! Screwed up shipping AND order.
I called to let them know on Wednesday about their major mess up on February 15.
Told them they can take it back and I'll order from a reputable company. OR they can send my child's other bed by next week and assemble.
Response on Friday, via e-mail from Claire, "We are looking into this for you and will let you know".
Not even a human voice on the phone.
Now THAT'S quality customer service!
SO now, we have a giant unassembled POS bed in the living room, for one out of two children. Just called, got a message they are out, it's Saturday they'll be in on Tuesday, February 22!
