"Mercantila has many websites that are very specific to one particular product called superstores. One of them is indoor air filters. http://www.indoor-room-air-purifier.com or Air Purifier Superstore.
I bought an Alen-Air A350 HEPA Purifier. The product description consist of:
1. A350 HEPA Purifier
2. free item: Alen air filter
3. free item: lifetime warranty
4. free item: 10% off replacement air filters for life
5. free item: 25% Rebate Coupon
6. free item: free Fedex shipping
All sounded very good. Price is the same as other websites but it sounds like the price includes an extra free filter. It sounded too good to be true. So I called their customer service. I specifically asked if there will be 2 filters, and was told a definite YES.
I sent the filter to my son. Later I found out that there was only one filter, the one that came inside the HEPA purifier itself. So I contacted customer service again. The only response I received was "Our sales representative may have been confused or mis-informed". They refused to acknowledge that I was misled, and did not offer any corrective action. I also learn now that the 10% off replacement is "supported by the manufacturer", not them. None of this was stated at the time of purchase.
This reminds me of shady online NY camera stores that tell you after the order that the camera does not come with a battery and you have to buy one for $50 or more. Beware of their product description!! They are highly dressed to sell and mislead!!"

Saw that my shipping date was unset so
I emailed a cancellation notice of my
order. Also called the phone number to
confirm my cancellation.
Within hours I had an email response from
Mercantila (which showed my cancellation
request and my call) to say I could cancel
or keep the order and receive an extra 10%
discount.
Decided to revoke the cancellation as I
had read positive reviews of Mercantila
too.
The original order was placed late night
on 8/8/10. It arrived yesterday morning
on 8/13.
Mercantila has left me pleased with the
product, price, and service.

"Had read the bad reviews, but was taking a chance on Mercantila because of their presence on ebay with 98% positive reviews. Used PayPal for purchase.
Emailed Mercantila thru ebay contact email address with several rounds of questions on the bed I ordered. Quick and attentive responses. Contained detailed answers to my questions. Was holding my breath for what would happen after the sale.
Placed order. Began receiving confirmation emails with updates on the order I placed. Frequency created security in me the customer, again, with excellent detail/explanation of what would happen next in the process.
Received a phone call from the delivery company on Thurs 8/29 (10 days after placing order), asking to schedule delivery the next morning. Received a 4 hour delivery window. Guys called 30 minutes before arriving (at end of delivery window). Handled the product beautifully. Delivery guys patient as I opened the one box that had a small external "punch" on one corner, to make sure there was no product damage. Boxes packed incredibly well.
Assembled bed same day received. Heavy "weight", well constructed, pleased with everything. Bed is very solidly made, and support system screws into frame with leveling feet on each supplimentary support.
Very pleased. Was shaking during process because of reading bad reviews from a few customers. But VERY pleased with the $1000+ California King sleigh bed purchased (oversized)... pleased with customer service... pleased with delivery. For me, the entire experience could not have gone better."
"Worst, absolutely worst online store ever. I ordered some patio furniture, very good price. They promised that item was in stock and would ship in two business days. Complete lies. My experience mirrors many other reviews: they immediately charge your credit card, then they proceed to send you delay after delay notices in shipping. I decided to cancel order, and they send you a note 24 hours later that they do not know what state the shipping status is in, but will cancel if they can. Turns out to be absolute lies. How can customer service not know what the status of the order is in?? (especially in this day of the computerization) Meanwhile, they are working behind of scenes to ship your order. "I tried to get customer service to ask about a product several times but the lenght on hold was awful. I decided to purchase the swing set but after I did, I started reading the bad reviews and looked at other websites that sold the same item. Some came with the swing and some did not. I sent an email out immediately to ask if the swing was included and if not to cancel my order. The email stated the item would ship out on the 8th of June. That was plenty of time to cancel the order but the email came back stating it was already shipped. LIARS. I got another email today..the 7th stating the shipment wasn't going out until tomorrow. They could have cancelled my order and now to return it I will have to pay shipping here and back plus a 25% stocking fee. "I ordered a Concept 2 Model D rower. Mercantila called me the next day to verify my address and told me when it would be shipped. It was dropped shipped from the manufacturer when they said it would be. I received the item when they said I would, no issues. I got a great price, using a coupon plus the Bing cashback. "I will never business with Merchantila again!! I placed an order for the White Logik Loft Bed with added products over two weeks ago (3/4/2010). When I finally began to receive shipping email confirmations there were two different dates 3/9 & 3/16. I called customer service to confirm the exact shipping date and I was told a shipping manager would call me back with an update. I did not receive a call back I received another email.
Upon tracking my order I noticed the order was to be delivered the next day and no one called to schedule a drop off time as I was told by the sales department. Contacted customer service and I spoke with a rude customer service agent to say my order (huge bed room set) will not be delivered inside of the home as the delivery company does not do this. I went back and forth and told the rep that is not what I was told upon placing my order. I was told the packages will be brought inside my home, unwrapped and the company will remove the product wrapping from my home (total of an estimated 30 minutes of deliver).
On line also indicates this white glove service. I also have the reps name that placed my order.
After requesting a supervisor or manager to help me resolve this issue I was told again there is no manager to speak with and I could only leave a message and wait for a call back! I called several more times to be told the same thing. I called Sales and was denied assistance with this matter because they can not help on issues after the order is placed. After finally received an email with a $200 credit offer to accept the order from fed ex despite my issue with the shipping. At this point I was blown away with the fact that no one would bother to pick up the phone and contact me regarding the issues I was having by yet they claim to have 110 customer satisfaction!!
I called again to customer service and I was told to either accept the $200 credit or return the order and that's it. "There is nothing else we can do for you" is what the customer service person told me. I was livid at the type of service that I received after paying over 1200 for a bedroom set for my daughter. I was hung up on again while being transferred to a voicemail for a manager. AFter waiting on hold for over 30 mins. to reach another rude customer servic rep I hung up and called back to the sales dept to request a sales manager to assist me with this matter and she too stated I should receive inside delivery and wasn't sure how and why I was caught up in this shipping issue.
Upon her attempting to resolve the issue she called me back an hour or so later to say the online website was incorrect and I would not receive inside shipping and the only resolution to this was to accept the $200 refund or return the package.
Again, Merchantila has caused me time, stress and money for an order that I paid for in full. Not only do I have to wait to receive a full refund my daughter is with out a bed because I trashed her old one. I can not express the dissatisfaction I received with this company. I will never do business with this company nor will I refer anyone here or their affiliates!!
I attempted to refer a friend here for beds for her twins and I am most grateful that she did not place her order yet! Beware of the false free inside delivery shipping advertisement!"
"Shopping from this site has been the worse shopping and customer sercice experience of my life. Customer service was great when I placed the order. But, I was given incorrect information (lies) when I placed the order. The item I purchased had a ship date of 2-3 days, which was confirmed by the CSR. After placing the order and my credit card billed, I received an email stating that my order would not arrive for two weeks. This was not acceptable to me so I called to cancel the order and was assured that my refund would post to my credit card in 2-5 business days. Well, it has been FIVE WEEKS and I still have not received my refund. I finally had to contact my bank to dispute the item. I think it is very unfortunate that I have to go to such lenghts in order to get my refund. In my opinion this company has stolen money that I have had to work very hard to earn. This is intolerable. I will never shop from this site or any other business associated with this company and I would advise those who do to seriously reconsider. "
"Ordered 12/2/09. Was told it shipped 12/4/09 and issued a FedEx tracking number. After countless phone calls, was told it never shipped at all. Item was no longer available. They never notified me of this. A week before Christmas and no gift for my grandson. They took my money, sent no product, and wouldn't issue me a refund. Don't bother with the help site. The only way I got my money back was to contact Better Business Bureau and Department of Consumer Affairs. I then contacted the Atty. General's office and file a complaint of theft by fraud. Suddently, three months after my refund request, the refund appeared on my credit card. My advise is to stay away from them. Once they have your money, good luck getting it back! I contacted the Sales Representative to order a large 4 piece Entertainment Center and obtain further information on the item. They had no information and read directly from the website where the dimensions for this item by their company were incorrect by over 40 inches-thus not being able to fit in my home. I called back the next day after I did my own research to confirm the size and noted that their website information was incorrect. I CANCELLED AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR ANY TYPE OF A REFUND TO BE APPLIED TO MY CREDIT CARD! There is an excuse every time that you call, it was the holiday, then it was the next holiday, then it was a back log. It took 5 minutes to charge my credit card yet 3 weeks later they STILL have not been able to reverse that and credit my account. E-mails that you receive back continue to tell you that they are "working" on it. I immediately contacted my Credit Card company to alert them and to ensure that this item is not paid - PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU MAKE A DECISION TO PURCHASE, I wish I would have!"
"This one is for Mercantilas futon superstore http://www.futons-store.com.I ordered a futon,mattress and futon drawers.All separate orders.I gave the futon a honestly generous 3 star review on their website because I ordered the drawers separate from the futon.The futon wasn't damaged just of poor quality.The drawers were damaged.Due to their 25% restocking fee I pretty much had to eat it.
Anyway about the 3 star review.If you review a product on this site and give it any less then 4 stars they won't post the review.Go to the site and see if you can see a product with any less then 4 stars! Wouldn't that mean 100% happy customers as well as 100% quality products?

"I would not recommend this company. Although they kept in regular email contact, they seem fishy. I ordered a headboard to be shipped to Canada. At no point in the ordering process did the website flag that there would be additional shipping charges to Canada. Then, 10 days later, the company asked me to pay for shipping charges to Canada; they were quite reasonable, so I obliged. One hour after paying them through Paypal, they informed me that the item would not ship to Canada because it is apparently sold in Canada (this is a very strange explanation: free trade... And also, another US web company was willing to ship the exact same item to me for a higher shipping cost). They stated that a refund would be issued for my purchase. One week later: no refund. I emailed and was told that it would be issued in 2 business days. One week later: still no refund. So, I opened a dispute with Paypal and was refunded the item amount within 2 business days, but Paypal won't dispute shipping charges. After sitting on hold with this company for 10 minutes, I resolved to contact my credit card company to dispute the shipping charge. Good grief: what a lot of time and energy I've wasted on this company's lack of professionalism. I do not recommend them."
