My go-to for bike supplies

Great Price and Fast Shipping

"I purchased the Park SBK-1 tool, which retails for around $289. Modern Bike had the lowest price online at $218, I thought they weren't legit. LOL. But I read their reviews online before purchasing and they where rate very high and based in the US.

I ordered by tool and received confirmation of shipping within 48 hours. Then received the order in about 2 days. Very happy with the price and Customer Service from those that responded to my questions.

I will definitely be back.!

Awesome customer service

"A few ago, I purchased a rear rack from Modern Bike for my gravel bike. I had researched racks to find models that would fit the geometry of my bike but also be low priced as I did not need a heavy duty rack. I had seen photos of the rack (Sunlite Gold) that met my needs on other websites, but Modern Bike had the best price, so I placed my order. When the rack arrived, it fit my bike, but it had a solid extension for a back light and the extension angled straight down and touched my back tire, which was a problem. I hadn't seen this part of the rack in the photos I had reviewed (NOT on modernbike.com, however, which does show the extension) before buying the rack. I wasn't sure what to do so called Modern Bike and was very pleased with the response. The person I spoke with was understanding, sympathetic, gave me a good suggestion for removing the extension (we sawed it off and sanded down the edges) and even gave me a partial refund, which was a bonus. "

Disappointed With Communications and Shipping

"My order was placed a week ago! I called today to check on my order and was told it is shipping today, that is what the Order Status on their webpage has said for the past several days. After I called I was told my order will be shipped UPS, I just received a email my order has been shipped FEDEX. I could have bought all the items I ordered off Amazon and saved over $30 and still had free shipping. You do not survive in business if your customers are writing below average reviews, take a lesson from Bike Nashbar and Performance Bicycle and they had pretty good customer service. "

Rudeness

"Had issue with order and their slowness in shipping out. They put a hold on card, but by the time they shipped the pending hold expired, so they tried to process again. By that time I had other activity on card with pending holds so it got declined. Quick read of their email made it seem the order was cancelled. I needed product right away, so ordered through Amazon versus supporting retailer. Month goes by and I see another email that they tried processing order again. I had a bunch of other pending holds on card so it didn't clear again - thankfully so because I no longer needed product. I called and spoke with Jeff and started explaining situation. He said, "no, we only tried to process once." I started explaining to him that there was a hold placed when I initially processed order, but he started talking over me. I asked him to allow me to finish what I was saying and he just kept saying that the order had been cancelled. I said, "let me finish," and then he said made some other comment and said this call is over and hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to his manager. Andy then came to the phone. The purpose was not about the order, but about the horrible customer service and skills of the representative. I started explaining to him the situation, I was about complete, when he interrupted me saying the order was cancelled. I tried to stop him to tell him that wasn't the point of the call, that it was the rude service on the phone given to me by Jeff. Andy, said "you're talking over me." It was like him telling me, "stop interrupting me while I interrupt you," which was the same thing Jeff was doing. He then said, "the order is cancelled and the conversation is over." This organization needs some serious customer service training. I know they get lots of calls from the general public and that some of them are rude. I am a specialty operator in the bike industry and unfortunately my distributors of BTI and Hoss Active Sports Group (Challenge Tires) don't have 650c tires in stock, hence I had to go retail. There are plenty of options out there and I get asked where my customers should get certain product that I don't have. I will absolutely tell them to steer away from Modernbikes."

Online order service excellent, attentive, quick & efficient

"I needed a new front wheel for my commuter bike ASAP. All LBS in my area quoted out of stock, replenishment a week out. Online search took me to ModernBIKE and placed my 1st order. Jeff came thru, even adding info after order sent to ensure safe delivery. My wheel arrived in 3 days. I would give more stars if I could. 10/10 would order again. "

"IN STOCK" not really

"Don't trust ModernBIKE.com "in stock" status on product. I ordered a tire which was supposed to be here 5 days from order now I am getting emails saying that they have ordered the tire from a vender and they will email me when it ships to them and then they have to receive it and reship. If you wanted your product when promised look somewhere else. First and last order from ModernBike.com"
