"I have been ordering from Mountain Rose Herbs for about 7 years, mostly aromatherapy products; essential oils and hydrosols. MRH's prices reflect the quality and commitment to sustainability and fair trade which they promote. I have consistently received high quality product, which is rare among commercial aromatherapy suppliers. Website ordering is simple to use, orders have been accurate, I have never needed to contact customer service. Dates on reviews complaining about shipping delays are near the winter holiday season when retail and shipping companies are busiest, this must be taken into account when reading reviews. I find that shipping is a bit pricey but has always been on time, parcels have arrived in good shape and appropriately packaged. "I have placed multiple orders and have always received exactly what I wanted and I love the quality of the products. I have never had any issue with quality being poor or below average. Their prices are very decent. The missing star is for outrageous shipping costs, which makes it hard to continue ordering when there are SO many other retailers with free shipping. "

" Absolutely terrible customer service! I would give zero stars if I could. I placed an order on 12/13/18 and triple checked on shipping and it said items should ship within a few business days. I know because as I stated I triple checked this. I am not sure if it was not displaying correctly due to the fact that I placed the order on my phone, but I know for sure that there was no message indicating delayed shipping. I can see that message now, but it was definitely not there when I placed my order on 12/13/18.
I called on 12/17/18 to inquire about the status of my order shipping and they had a long waiting time so I opted to have a customer service rep call me back. The rep told me when she called me back that all orders placed on 12/13/18 were being shipped that same day so I was no longer worried that my order would get here in time. I still did not receive the shipping notification as of today so I called back again.
The manager of customer service was basically calling me a liar insisting that the delayed shipping notification was displayed when I placed my order and would not listen to me and kept trying to talk while I was trying to finish what I was saying. Her name was Kathy and she should not be a manager because she said she was going to hang up on me and not to call back and then did hang up. Kathy told me she was sorry I didn't see the notification when I placed my order, basically implying that this was my fault. Terrible customer service.
I spoke to Kathy's manager, Azra, who was very nice and I will update my review accordingly once I hear back from her about resolving my issue."

"My simple order could have been mailed in one box, but no. They sent only 2 of the 13 items plus an invoice saying that my order was complete. Nope. After calling on the phone I heard the excuse - they are very busy - blah, blah, blah. The rest of my order will arrive in another box on another day. They voluntarily refunded my shipping cost and when the second box arrived, the box was smashed in two places - strong packing tape but cheap cardboard. There was no invoice in the box. There was also one item missing. Again, I had to contact the company and they said they were out of stock for that item. Funny...it's still listed in the catalog and on the website but they want me to wait now for a 3rd box. They might have used my contact information to see if I would accept a substitute item, but nope. Let's see if we can figure out why they are so 'busy'. Maybe if they would do the job right in the first place and not make it into three separate packages, they might get their work done on time and get the orders correct, plus they could have kept the shipping cost. It doesn't matter to me if they have the best products in the world; life is too short to make things this difficult. I ordered in plenty of time so that I could make up some packages to give as gifts. Their inefficiency and delay caused me to have to reimagine what new and exciting gifts I will be giving to my friends and family. This was my first and will be my last order with Mountain Rose. Sorry. That's the best review I can offer. "
"This is my first time ordering from MRH - and yes the delivery was very slow. Ordered on November 20th, Package delivered on December 6th. However, it is Christmas season so I was patient. But I can see how that may have upset other customers.
Unfortunately, my UPS driver delivered the package to the wrong address on Thursday when I needed the package for Saturday. They did work with me to try and locate it but I was worried it wouldn't be honestly returned. I believe I spoke to Tim from MRH who redirected me to Megan. And the two were phenomenal. Megan actually offered to put in a replacement and have it shipped next day priority so that I could receive it the very next day.
I opted to wait and see if UPS could recover the package as I had already ordered a back up from Amazon just in case. Luckily, the package was returned later that day. But even if it wasn't the customer service did a wonderful job in putting so much effort into saving the day. And for that, I will definitely continue to order from here. By the way, the elderberries are beautiful!"
"WORST customer service I think I have ever experienced. I placed an order two weeks ago and have called in twice now to check on it. At the time, there was NO message that it would be delayed. When I called in both times, the customer service reps were rude and basically told me to get screwed. Nothing they could do. Wasn't their fault that they were behind and I guess just sorry about ya. Told me that at best, my order would be here by the end OF NEXT WEEK. If I would have known this, I definitely wouldn't have purchased but I also wouldn't have paid for the priority shipping. I am so sad that this has happened because I have been stocking my apothecary for years from you guys. I won't be back and will discourage my students from purchasing here."

"I was scared to see all of these negative reviews before my first order. I’m so confused why people have issues with them. The shipping time is very reasonable especially considering they hand pack unlike amazon that sends robots to do everything. They also ship with almost zero waste using compostable, recyclable etc packaging. The quality is great. The price is great and usually better then amazon considering the quality. "The quality of their products and services are questionable. Twice I have received the incorrect oil, although their costumer service assured me it was the correct one, I know it was not. I've purchase carrier oils and essential oils for many years and I know what's what. I talked to friends who know oils pretty well and they agreed with me, the oil I received had a complete different color and odor than the oil I purchase. Twice I did not receive the correct oil! Well, now I distrust this company, and won't purchase any longer their products again."
"After researching bulk herb companies I decided to try MRH , I heard their products were quality and good... I did not read the incredibly SLOW processing and shipping reviews that I am just now discovering after reading their reply to my email asking where the world my order is I placed almost a week ago?! Their reply was "I completely understand your concerns, we certainly live in a high paced world where we have come to expect fast service. Our processing time is about 2-3 business days as we do hand fill each order. You order is invoiced by hand, your herbs are hand filled for your specific order, hand packaged using eco friendly materials, and then shipped out of our facility using the carrier selected." Yes I shop on sites that offer Free shipping and its FAST. I also shop on sites that are small mom and pop, using USPS etc. I can ship flate rate boxes across the united states in 2-3 days!! come on!! For the record I am STILL waiting for my herbs that I was told are to be here this upcoming FRIDAY. This will be the last order and $15 shipping fee they will get from me."
"We still haven't received the order so we cannot yet judge the quality, but it took 5 days to process the order. It was just one item. Another 3 days for the USPS to get it to us. Had I known, I would have bought from someone else.
I called customer service. The guy who answered clearly didn't much care that the order was slow. When I expressed our dissatisfaction, he explained that maybe with the one-day holiday, they got backed up."
"So I had ordered from them in may, some chaga, cordyceps and a few other things. I couldn't tell if there was anything wrong with those items. But when my order from them came in the mail today. I found a feather in their passion flower! I had ordered a large amount of cooking herbs, I went online and found that reviews are mostly negative! Something I was not expecting considering all the USDA labels on their products. Along with their nice looking website and large selection of herbs and spices. I thought there would be some quality assurance. I spent nearly $100 on spices and now I can't be sure that what I've purchased is safe. I'll have to consider throwing away what I've purchased. As well as contact the company. I doubt they'll be honest about any quality issues and health concerns. "
