"The deal on the tent and footprint seemed too good to be true -- much cheaper than anywhere else. I thought about it for a while, and then decided to order it.
It came withing a couple days, and is exactly as described.
So I got a great deal.
I noticed the tent disappeared from their site right after that -- so maybe there was just the one, and I got lucky.
Anyway -- no complaints here.

"These guys are the worst business I have ever dealt with in my life. I ordered an tent + footprint from them, which claimed it was "In Stock" and they called me back and told me it would take a few weeks. I am patient and understanding so I said that would be fine. Now 3 months after reassuring me 4 times when I have called inquiring where my tent is they tell me they can sell me the tent without the footprint for the same price as I had purchased their advertised price of tent+footprint.

I purchased this tent in the dead of winter when there were many good deals around and now its camping season and prices are at a premium. They totally SCREWED ME OVER. I spent a lot of time searching for the right tent at the right price and now I have to start all over. These people are a joke and they should go out of business. If you find a low price on their site good luck actually trying to get them to honor it. If they say its in stock, it is not. STAY AWAY STAY AWAY!.

"Like a lot of other reviews here, the "in stock" status is not correct on their website. I ordered a tent from MGP (in stock). After 2 weeks I called and they had no answer on when they would have it in stock. Amazingly, it took 3 separate phone calls to even get that answer out of them. I actually waited 2 months (Jan - March). In March, they told me they had no idea when it would be in stock and the main buyer didn't know either. I buy my gear from multiple online companies - MooseJaw, CampMor, Backcountry, Backcountry Edge and have never experienced this level of poor customer service. They've lost my future business. "

"The prices are lower than other etailers, so it is tempting to order from them. But, as per other reviews, you can't trust their "in stock" notices. The first time I ordered from this company, I got my deal. The second time, I cancelled after "in stock" items weren't shipped after a month, with frequent unfulfilled promises to expedite the order. Not worth the hassle. Pay a few more dollars to a store that keeps accurate inventory."

"Stock statuses on their website are not to be trusted! I ordered some tires and after almost a week of no shipping confirmation, and some confusion given that the tires were showing as "in stock" and that the website proudly says that items in stock ship within 24 hours I tried to get in touch. No reply to live chat, and then when I called today I found out that they're closed all weekend. The least that they could do when selling something that they misleadingly describe as "in stock" is make a courtesy call or email the customer to let them know that there is going to be a delay. This was my first order and it'll be my last. Save yourself the hassle, there are plenty of really great companies out there. This isn't one."

"I placed my order for some snowshoes with Mountains Plus Outdoor Gear on Dec. 1, 2014, and after the worst shopping experience of my life, I finally cancelled the order today, Feb. 12, 2015. DO NOT shop with this company. I placed literally dozens of phone calls to their Customer Service (speaking with Colby and Doug on multiple occasions), and never got any service whatsoever. Excuses, unanswered emails, and false promises to call me back--this is all I ever received."

"Ordered a Thule box, two weeks later, no box. Three phone calls later, still no box. I simply cancelled the order. Item was ordered on Jan 22, cancelled on Feb 10. No apologies...no box. Probably the worst retailer I've ordered from. Should not be in business, and probably won't be for too much longer. Whatever you're buying, look elsewhere."

"Ordered an in stock item on a Monday with 7-10 day shipping. After a few days of not shipping, I was assured the item would ship the following Monday (Day 7), they gave me a 10% charged my card $1000 for the item. We're on Day 9. No reply to messages on Live Chat and didn't reply to my email when the item didn't ship. After a few messages, I was told the item was still en route from their "warehouse." Clearly their "warehouse" is the manufacturer. Just BE HONEST and tell people when items are not in stock. I would otherwise not write a review, but this was completely annoying. And this was to be a gift. THANKS! Go elsewhere."

"I had a terrible experience with Mountains Plus. I ordered a camera using one of their coupon codes and received an order confirmation email with an order total displaying the discounted price. I did not receive shipping notification 3 business days later so called customer service. They said the item was backordered even though it said it was in-stock on their web site when I ordered. They indicated they didn't know when they would be receiving more inventory. I then received an order shipment email that same day with a higher charge than the order confirmation email. I emailed customer service and they said they discount code I used was not applicable to the product I ordered so they simply charged my credit card more and shipped out the item. I indicated I would take the issue up with my credit card company and they recalled the UPS shipment. Ridiculous. "

"I ordered a Thule Stacker 830 on Aug 6 2014 despite what I read about their poor customer service. They certainly have lived up to their reputation. My order still sits in my account as "Awaiting Pick Up - Ready To Ship." They do not have 24-hour customer service and the rep I spoke to on 8/8/14 said that it was coming from a distributer in another location and should ship out on Monday or Tuesday. It's now Wednesday and there is no change in status and there is no one who can answer a phone call. I will not order from them again and I may cancel this order if I won't receive it in the 7 - 10 business days timeframe that they quoted.

Got the equipment on the 10th day and didn't open the package for 2 days. When I did, it show signs of wear. It already had been used. REI has the same equipment on sale now for $127.95 and I paid $139 for used equipment. Don't order from Mountains Plus!

"I purchased a GoPro Hero+ camera. I ordered the camera, and a week later, I realized that Mountains Plus still had my order as "processing." I contacted them and was informed that they were out of stock, even though their website clearly states that they are in stock. They did offer to overnight it to me when it was in stock, which they did.

I got the camera and realized that it was not functional for me. I could hardly get it out of the packaging. And I could not open up the casing to remove the camera.

I contacted the store, because they have a supposed "60 day return policy." I asked the process for returns and they asked me what the problem was. I explained why I wanted to return the camera. And they said that they would NOT accept a return. They also told me that if the camera was broken, then I'd have to take that up with GoPro.

So, basically, they do not accept returns. You are better off ordering any kind of expensive item or electronic from Amazon, Best Buy or another vendor that will actually accept a return if you are unsatisfied with the product.

"Be warned...Too bad a minus 5 rating isn't available, or I'd use it, and that would be generous. I ordered 2 Big Agnes sleeping bags on July 1 for a trip I have planned for July 11. In-Stock was indicated on the web site (and still is as of July 9 2014, but in reality they ARE NOT IN STOCK). Opted to pay extra for speedier shipping (5 to 7 days). After 5 days of no order activity, I got in touch with customer service (Collin) on July 7. Was told order would be shipped directly from Big Agnes that day. Never happened. Got back in touch with customer service July 8. Same rep (Collin). Was told once again they would have Big Agnes ship today (July 8) expedited, and send me the tracking info via email. Never happened. Now here it is July 9, (8 days after the order was placed) I'm leaving in 2 days, and still nothing. I have placed 3 orders with Mountain Plus in little over 1 year. I got screwed over on 2 of the 3 orders due to false promises of speedy shipping. Never again! My advice to you, if you need something in a timely manner, save yourself some headaches and look elsewhere. "
