"I thought everyone thinking of doing business with music123.com should hear my story before ordering anything from them.
I ordered from the music123.com website on February 1, 2012 a $1495 Kremona classical guitar listed as in stock and ready to ship. This was charged to my VISA when I placed the order. I received a confirming email from them, but not till February 6, saying the item had shipped. Four days go by and the UPS shipping status on the UPS website had not changed. When I checked with music123 several times by phone, their people could not explain what was going on. UPS indicated that they had received package information electronically and a label had been created, but did not have the item in their possession.
On Friday February 10, I told music123 by phone I would give them a couple more days but would cancel the order if they could not explain this shipping snafu, but they insisted the problem was with UPS.
I received an email from them on Sunday, February 12, saying “UPS had returned my order and that my VISA account had been credited.“ Funny, but where I am, UPS doesn't even run on Sunday. I responded to the email thanking them and assuring them this was my first and last order with music123.com. Then as a response, I guess through some employee of music123's idea of a joke, they had the nerve to send me an email with the subject line “ We Love Our Customers – Double Loyalty Points”, which I promptly trashed.
When I checked with my credit card company, the charge was never placed on my account until February 7 – nearly a week after placing my order and a day AFTER they say the guitar had shipped. What companies like this do you know of that would ship something to someone before they had paid for it? Today is February 14th and the last I checked, the refund posting to my credit card has still not been made by music123.com
Buy from someone else. I believe these folks flat lied to me. Why? Don't know. If I were one of their upper managers, I definitely would not tolerate these kinds of fishy lost sales and would find out what smarta$$ emailed me their loyalty points email. They need to know of the arrogant attitude their employees are projecting.
I know these folks are huge and don't give a damn about one customer out of zillions, but they should think about what happened to Circuit City and other such arrogant corporate entities that thought they were too big to fail. A lot of that same thinking rendered their big box store employees unemployed and hungry. I predict the same thing will eventually happen with these Big Guys if they stay the present course.

Disgusted with music123.com In Almost Heaven "
"They resell used (and abused) items as new. Pure and simple."
"I placed an order w/ Music123.com this month. The item was listed, backordered til 9-9-11, on 9-9, received an email that the item was backordered til 9-11...on 9-12, til 9-15, on 9-15 delivery scheduled for 9-20-11. No order received by 9-22-11, so called the phone # listed. The item was on backorder until March 2012. I do not recommend dealing w/ this company. I wasted so much time on a item dealing w/ them. I will NEVER! order anything else from them. What a waste of time."
"Ordered a 8-switch Power Center from them via eBay on August 14, 2011 only to find them having canceled my order August 15th. This wouldn't have been so bad if they would have done the process properly and actually provided either a reason why it was canceled and how to remedy or an immediate refund, but in this case neither was provided.
It took 5 separate support tickets to finally get an answer as to why the order was canceled (despite being set up to sell on eBay, apparently the billing address provided for me during paypal checkout was 'insufficient'). It took contacting yet another customer service agent and threatening to file a charge reversal before they finally issued a refund.
On the note of their customer service, it was easily one of the worst I have ever dealt with. Their policy seems to be to simply quote a line of text from the FAQ on the website then mark the ticket as 'solved' regardless of whether or not the quoted information even related to the question being asked.
In summation although their eBay feedback is seemingly overwhelmingly positive, when things do go wrong with ordering from this company it quickly becomes a nightmare. Avoid if any alternatives are available."
"I ordered a light stand and it was packaged so poorly that the plastic brackets were broken and rendered the stand unusable. I called them up as soon as i received it and in short, they shipped a new replacement and said to discard the broken one. This was due to poor packaging, you could hear everything banging around in the box as it was delivered. I placed a seperate order a week later, and thankfully the dj laser light wasn't broken, but with such a fragile item you would think they would add a little more packing material. Someone needs to speak with whoever is in shipping and have them do a better job. The CSR was nice and shipping times were good though. "
"Very Bad service
They sent me the wrong product and then would not even agree to send what I bought!
DO NOT BUY FROM MUSIC123 EVER!!!!!
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT"
"Used their price match on a Lanikai ukelele, was $75 elsewhere so they quoted me $72.10. Just ordered it by itself, used Paypal, everything looked good, I saw the transaction on my Paypal account. Then, the order got cancelled, I called and was told that there was some mix up with Paypal. Bogus!! They just didn't want to sell it at that price. First time shopping there. Never shop there ever again. Telling all my friends to stay away."
"I ordered four Harmonicas. Nice web site, easy to use, with a better selection than most music retailers. For Harmonicas, what I was buying, that meant a pretty complete selection of Hohner, Suzuki, Lee Oskar, and Hering. But they have a good selection in other areas as well, guitar, drums, keyboards, recording equipment.
They shipped promptly, notified me, provided a tracking number and link, I was able to check the status of my order easily at all times. Everything arrived timely and in good condition. And shipping in this case (and many cases in the US) was free.
Altogether, between the selection, competitive prices, the quality of service, plus the confidence of knowing the site is operated by Zapf's Music, a well established retailer, I'll be ordering here again.

"Stay far away from this company. So much has gone wrong sicn eI ordered that I will probably miss some key points in writing about it.
At first they didn;t want to honor their price match guarantee. After a talk with a rude CSR, i asked for a higher up and spoke to a guy that approved the PM. Order was shipped and they billed my card. i waiting a week and a half and still no packages. I contacted them and fed-ex numerour times (they said it was shipped fedex). it turned otu that some third party freight carrier that I never heard of had my shipment and my itmes were in their warehouse becuase music123.com didnt give them my telephone number to make contact for delievery. I finally straightened that out and then started looking throug thr large order of guitars I purchased. Five were previously used and one of the five had a cracked neck. I contacted music123.com about it and they said the guitars were discontinued so I came up with a fair figure for me to accept the used guitars and keep them. The only thing music123.com will do is a low amount and only as a credit (as if I created the issue). I have been going back and forth with them numerous times and they are still trying to pull stunts with me. I asked for guitars of equal vaue (post pm) but they said they cant do that because after my PM, I didnt pay that same amount. they dont get it... they offered the guarantee on their website. i didnt tell them to make up that rule. I'm still going back and orth on this as i write this. I am going to contact the guitar maker and tell them what music123.com is doing to ruin their name (selling used gear as new). I am also going to contact the credit card and dile a chargeback soon if ths isnt taken care of. As stated, I am asking for a VERY fair amount to be credited. I dont want in house credit because I will never shop with them again. They really suck bad. Very unprofessional, non caring, cocky, etc. STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!
I also had other items on backorder that they cancelled without notice or reason.
They are like the kid that took the ball away form everybody on the playground and wondered why they werent like very much at the end of the day."
"Writing this review is almost the same as writing one for Musician's Friend, Guitar Center etc since they are the same company and ship out of the same warehouses. Prices do differ and from that you can get a better deal."
"I don't know how you can screw up an order as simple as mine but they did. Customer services was very apologetic, must have done this before. We'll see how long it takes to resolve. Won't be back
PS They did fix it and sent out over night. I'm good with them"
"Fine, as advertised. My initial purchase was through Amazon, but I'll try them again directly in the future. Apparently this vendor shares some systems with other music stores, but perhaps that is just their common Amazon backbone.
The package included a shipping list, but that did not show the prices and total cost, which would have been useful."
"Can't even check out on their site, paypal and credit card checkout is broken, and has been for over a week. Response from customer service was useless. So much for their new website, they ought to ask the developers for a refund."
"I placed an order for the Rogue SX100B Series II Bass.
I am very pleased with this company, at first I was cheesed because the item I wanted was on backorder, however they were very helpful in canceling my initial order and allowing me to choose the same item but as a different color that was in stock. They were also very prompt with my refund, the issue with the refund being on Paypal's end due to their "hold" on funds.
I am puzzled by the comments some had made on the shipping. My item came properly packed and everything was as I had ordered, fully functional, etc...
The speed at which my item was delivered was a plus, it took only 3 days for my item to get to me. "
"This is the second time that I've ordered from Music123 in the last six months.
Both transactions were very good. I took advantage of their free shipping offer and a 5% off coupon.
Items were as advertised, very prompt shipping with good packing.
I've read some bad reviews about this company but I've been very satisfied and felt that they needed the recognition for excellent service.
Perhaps they've improved in the last few months??
