"Cancelled an online order with paid for with Paypal in the amount of 329.50 USD on OCT 21 - 2012. Order was cancelled by them on the telephone since they could not fulfil it. They told me that my money had never been billed to Paypal by them, as they only place a HOLD on the funds until the product ships. They did not want to give me my cancellation in writing, but finally did after about 20 mins of my telling them that I needed proof of cancellation. I am SO GLAD that I made them do that, or I would have no record that the order had been cancelled. I asked for a manager to call me the next day to discuss my concerns - nobody ever called me back, even though they assured me that a manager would call.
My Paypal record shows a different story told me than they and the funds have been removed from my bank account and converted to USD. Musician's Friend tells me that there is nothing that they can do since the order is "cancelled" on their system, they tell me that it is a problem between Paypal and me and there is nothing I can do. I asked to speak with a manager, and he tells me that he will look after getting my paypal refund and email me to tell me it is done. We shall see how long this takes. It is currently Oct 30th, 2012...
I will never purchase another item from Musician's Friend. The sales hype BEFORE the sale did not match the actual info once my bill was prepared, and they could not do simple shipping adjustments on an online order. Their computer system is blamed for these 'errors' but ultimatley, Paypal tells me that MF has my money... and MF tells me they don't. NOT IMPRESSED..."
"I have placed 2 orders from MF. The first order was a pre-order for an item, the second was for a something in stock.
Both times I received e-mails stating that my items had shipped, only they had not. It seems that they will print the shipping label which triggers an e-mail notification.
I called after not being able to track the first item for 3 days, and was told that it shipped already. I asked where it shipped from and when I would received it, because up to that point, the UPS web site said that only a shipping label was printed and no further information. The customer service person said it was shipped, and shipped from Kansas City, and I would have it the following day. I mentioned that I was unable to track it on the UPS website, and that it said only a label had been printed. He said that there was a better website to use because the UPS website wasn't any good. What a joke!
That night the UPS website updated the status of my package, and said it was picked up in Salt Lake City, and the estimated delivery date was the following day. The following day came and went, but no package. It showed up a day later. Since it was a pre-order I expected to get a new, unused/non-returned product, and I did.
I will never trust what one of their customer service people say ever again. I have not yet received my second order yet. I did however record the call when I placed the order, asking that I was getting a brand new unused/not returned product. My package allegedly shipped last Friday, but as of today, the UPS website still says that only a label was printed. I know what to expect now, so I am not going to hold my breathe waiting for the package.
Guitar Center should be ashamed of this part of their business. I have not tried Music123.com but I suspect that they operate the same way since they're owned by Guitar Center too.
Overall, if you are patient, things should work out. I have read a bunch of horror stories online about MF, so I don't know that I would buy any high-dollar items there."
"I've been a long time customer of Musicians Friend spending thousands of dollars over that period pn guitars. amps, effects etc. The last two purchases have been an outright disgrace after I received clearly used and repckaged items sold to me as new!
The first was a Tascam Neo 2488 digital recording studio for around $600.00. The factory box was obviously opened, returned and re-taped. When I plugged the unit in there was already someone elses recorded music still on the hard drive!
The current debacle involves a fairly expensive ($1700.00) Fender Supsonic 100 guitar amp head. I have received a total of THREE that were bought, used by someone else, returned amd re-packaged! The first one had the original staple holes (empty) and a different set of staples installed on the box. The amp and amp box was oil stained, the tolex was scuffed and the footswitch was loose in it's housing. Returned that one and received the next one with all the accessory bags opened and it was missing the power cord and patch cable to hook it up to my speaker cab! The third one came in a plain unmarked non Fender box with all the knobs adjusted to various positions (they usually come in the zero position), the power and standby switches were both "on" , accessory bags opened and the Fender amp cover was missing it's plastic bag!
They were "kind" enough to take the returns of all thre amps but re-packaging and luggimg these 70 pound monsters to UPS was no small feat. The kicker: They're now on back order until late November!
So long Musicians Friend. I'll NEVER spend another dime with you and advise other people not to either...."
"I ordered a product from them and they informed me it is on back order which is really frustrating, I need it now. So I asked them how long it is going to take for me to get and they said that my email didn't go through because their mailbox is too full! I am not happy"
"I bought A martin Dcpa4 from Musicians Friend. I could not have had a better experience! I was very skeptical of buying here because of the really bad reviews I read... But I took the risk anyway. I talked to a great customer service agent who talked me through the whole process. Whats better is that there was a 15% off code for almost all items in stock. Sadly one of those was not mine. But The Customer Support guy said he could give me the 15% off anyway... That took almost 200$ off my order!!! and to add on to that there was free shipping too! My order was supposed to take 5-8 days but instead took 3! When I unboxed It I could not have been more happy! I am for sure going to buy from here again! They really are a really great website and I think should be trusted 100%"
"Musician's Friend is hit or miss. In this case both hit and miss. I received a "Like New Martin Tenor Uke Level 1" in August at a good price - $100.00 off. However the ukulele had the worst buzzing I have ever heard on a stringed instrument out of the box after tuning up. That means the ukulele was not "Like New" and not as advertised. After examination I discovered the "C" slot was incorrctly cut at the nut so I made a new nut out of a bone blank I had and solved the problem. Musicians's Friend has not published my honest review of this incident much to their shame. Hopefully this review will alert future customers to the sometimes shoddy practices of Musicians Friend. By the way, the Mexican made Martin T1K tenor is as fine sounding as any of the famous K brands when properly set up. "
"I'm getting the word out not to buy anything from this company! I ordered a beginning flute book plus DVD online but they shipped the wrong item. I called customer service upon receipt of the order to correct the error. First they insisted on getting the wrong item back before sending the item I actually purchased. Then they outright and bold-faced lied to me to get me off the phone, promising to send me a prepaid return label for the wrong item. When that didn't happen and I called again, the next agent changed their story insisting that they had sent me the right item and I just wasn't smart enough to know the difference. No refund, no exchange. They're keeping my money. I'm glad it was just $8.99. Dont' be their next victim. "
"Doesn't ship item. Excuses Excuses Excuses."
"They sold me an old version of a music theory software without marking it as such- it does not work with Windows 7. Then they refused to exchange it for the updated software. I am stuck with unusable software and they get the money--Nice!"
"The Chauvet Comet LEDs purchased through Musician's Friends operate as advertised, for now. However, despite many exchanges, this store distributes seconds (not first quality products), even when purchased as new items (as opposed to restocked ones). All *new* Comet LEDs received (five of them total) showed scratches on lenses and body, dents, missing manuals, and other blemishes which make them unsuitable for gifts and frustrate those of us who take good care of our gear. Asking the store to perform quality control before shipping a replacement unit meant taping the box instead of checking its content. Overall, it was an experience that I do not care to repeat."
"Horrible customer service experience. I have been lied to multiple times and I still do not have my product. These guys will make promises then nothing will happen. So, now I am out dimmer packs. Until it starts costing them money, this behavior will likely continue. I promised them a million dollars in free advertising... so.. SameDayMusic.com ... here I come..."
"Took a reasonable amount of time to receive it and then the shipping box and inside of the box were severely damaged. The product box should have been protected if there was adequate packaging, but there wasn't. I immediately sent them 6 pictures of the destroyed unit and packaging. I told them I needed this unit for a wedding that was happening in 8 days. They refused to immediately send out a new unit until they received the old one. Their return postage took 5 days to get it back to them. Then the return process took 5-7 business days and their shipping another week. So it was 2 weeks late from the time I needed it. "
"Usually a good experience. They are misleading with their packages and shipping, so beware."
"I purchased a Yamaha keyboard for $80. Received it and found out that there was a key that doesn't make sound. My husband called the product support twice. They told that the item was level4 and they wouldn't accept return. My daughter who is an age of 18 first found this product on their site and I purchased it for her. The thing is that both my daughter and I did not see any word that states "level4," "used," or "needs repair" on the product page. We didn't even think it was a used keyboard. There must have been some kind of error that did not properly show the item title that states the used condition (level4, used, and/or need repair).
I again contacted the customer service via email to investigate the case, but they wouldn't admit their error. I asked to send me a screenshot or something of the exact product page that I committed my purchase to prove they stated the used condition. But they couldn't prove that they were correct, either. Still they wouldn't do anything for us. No return, no refund. What kind of a customer service is it!? I had an impression that they don't care customers once we have paid. They are not flexible at all. Sad, very disjointed, and angry. We will never buy anything from Musicians Friend. Period. "
"I ordered a brand new upright bass from their website for about $1,000.00. Whe it arrived and I unboxed it, they sent me an upright that was totally different than the one I ordered with the exception of the color. I know uprights and they sent me a cheap Chinese bass of totally inferior quality. The bass looked like a $300.00 model. I don't know if they tried to put on over on me or what, but I shipped it right back. That was a hassle becasue it has to ship freight. I used them a few more times, and I have to say the shipping can be freaking slow. I ordered a set of screws for an electric bass and had to wait almost 2 weeks to get it. I don't live in the middle of nowhere either. I'm looking elsewhere from now on."
