"This is just a ghost retail site. They don't actually fulfill orders. No one mans their customer service chat either.
I gave up on my order with Musician's Friend and found another retailer that got my shipment out right away."
"Dec 06 I ordered Congas and Bongos from them as a Christmas gift. I received confirmation of payment upfront and at shipping. (Dec 07) Received the product as expected and well ahead of Christmas. Fast forward to January 20. Over a month later I received an email from them saying that they were sending an outstanding balance charge from the order to collections if I didn't immediately respond. I immediately responded, only to get another (later learned automated) email saying we haven't heard from you and we are sending you to collections. ????? Rather than own their mistake they sought to blame PayPal, who does not share their sentiment, and expect you the public to understand that their emails are just boiler plate and not to overreact to them. Won't do business with them again. I would advise the same. You too might get a surprise email that takes a significant amount of your time to resolve, with no acknowledgement of wrongdoing, and creates aggravation in the process. Own your mistakes Musicians Friend!"
"I bought a 12 in speaker and when it was delivered the package was damaged and the product was broken. When I called to get a return authorization it was easy, however they did not tell me that I have to pay the shipping. The shipping was / 1/3 of the price of the product. Scam. Scam. Scam their website says it's a 45-day hassle-free return Lie. Lie.Lie"
"Definitely not a type of a service I'd pay money again."
"Canceled my order without warning. Other peoples orders were not canceled, some who's were reported receiving store credit.
Why do different customers get different treatment? What is the criteria that decides that?
I ordered the digital item 3 days prior and after not receiving a status update (order pending) I decided to message them. I was told to "be patient" as they needed to receive more keys for the order. I complied. Two days later I get an email saying its canceled.
Safe to say after spending thousands on gear at Guitar Center/Musicians friend. I am done and will go for the better alternatives."
"Musician’s Friend is not a Musician’s Friend.
I spent thousands of dollars with Musician’s Friend just this past year. My account was hacked points (how safe is your’s?) it took six months for them to restore my Backstage Pass points. First excuse was because when I reported it they had a lot of temporary seasonal workers. Then the excuse was they must have dropped the ball. Finally the excuse it was my fault and that this has never happened to anyone else.
I think the only reason my points where restored is because I wrote a letter to the CEO that slammed the Customer Service Department but the letter (as I understand it) was intercepted by a Receptionist and then given to a line supervisor that got the letter and acted so he could SAY it was taken care of.
I did learn something from this experience though. This company does not know how to properly treat Customers, Seniors and Disabled persons (of which I am all three). I strongly recommend that you run as far and as fast as you can away from this company as you can. They might be treating you okay right now but it will be your turn to deal with the mess they call “world class customer service” but I call “third world service”."
"DO NOT EVER BUY A GIFT HERE. I received a broken (seemingly manufacturer error, legs aren't bent right, will not assemble w/o more bending) gibson barstool as a gift. They will not ever exchange ANYTHING! So sitting here with a broken stool i have 2 choices. Bend it myself and void any hope of a return while possibly simultaneously breaking it. OR call the people who bought me the gift and ask them to start the return process of returning the product, waiting for the refund, placing a new order with them, hope another broken one doesn't show up. I bet any other company would just exchange the broken junk they sent out without wasting everyone's time. This is not posted anywhere on their website, so i figured id help them out! Again, DO NOT BUY A GIFT HERE"
"THIS COMPANY IS ACCUSING ME OF NOT RETURNING AN ITEM I RETURNED. THEY DID NOT CONTACT ME UNTIL WELL AFTER I SHIPPED IT BACK TO THEM -- 6 MONTHS LATER!!! Now the tracking number is null and void and the receipt is GONE. How is this legal??? It is a SCAM. SCAM. SCAMMMMMMM"
"As of April, 2019, 93.3% of reviews for Musician's Friend are 1 (one) star, i.e., "Horrible". And, IMO, well deserved!
These people are so dumb, they make it difficult to do business with them. Which, having read other reviews, is a good thing. In that way, you're out only time, not money.
I had some questions about open box ratings and opened a chat session to resolve them. Turns out the website is inconsistent in the way it presents information and terms are not clearly defined. I was about to confirm their numbering system when the bot that monitors IM sessions noticed I had not responded in 3 (three) minutes and ended the chat.
Apparently Musician's Friend thinks I have nothing else going on in my life than IM-ing with them.
Meaning, another dissatisfied, in this case, *almost* customer."
"I ordered a guitar, amplifier and some other things. My order was never delivered. Musician's Friend is refusing to issue credit or complete delivery. I'm having to file a lawsuit to get my money back. I wish I would have read all the other reviews before I trusted Musician's Friend. Do yourself a favor and avoid Musician's Friend. Well, unless you like being ripped off. "
"Received two guitars in a row that had separate problems. Customer service literally didn't care and made sure to play dumb on the phone every time I called in. Multiple employees, including a particularly rude employee Bernard, refused to let me speak to a supervisor, telling me that they could help resolve the issue and then refusing because the supervisors "were busy" or "were at lunch". You can't make this stuff up. They wouldn't publish my reviews of the guitars on their website describing them as I received them. The whole thing is a scam. I feel like tons of parents/grandparents with musician kids are getting scammed out of money because they would actually go along with this whole thing. "
" Christmas Eve 2018 I ordered a Blueridge guitar from Musicians Friend I was informed that it was on backorder and would be in stock January 18th of 2019 . I decided to make the order and endure the wait. When I made the order I had a special shipping request for the guitar to be shipped in a case and double boxed to which they said totally possible. and so began the weight. January 18th finally came and I called the company to ask what the status of my order was to which they informed me that it's backorder date had been pushed out to February 4th this for me was depressing but I decided to wait a little bit longer I called just about every other day and talked to you many many people everyone who which knew about the special shipping request . it is now February 12th and I finally got a email with not one but two tracking numbers. So I called and talked to the first person they got on the phoneand asked them why the second tracking number was there because I had specially ordered the guitar and case to be shipped together and double boxed . This is when they told me that they would be showing up separately 1 ups and 1 FedEx the furthest thing from together you can get. And when I can confined in musicians friend about the giant mistake there was nothing that they were willing to do to make me feel better about the situation. So if you're the kind of person who is more ocdc about their instruments don't order from Musician's Friend cuz you'll get your instrument a month late and probably not exactly what you ordered and it **** to say that but their unwillingness to compensate me for my time lost with even a t-shirt or something stupid like a coffee mug or a keychain speaks for itself."
"They will beat you around the bush and do not care about repeat customers. Long story short 3 months and still not resolve my warranty claim. Getting to the point where I am just going to take my purchase a loss. The will pretend to not understand what your complaint is to the point where you just give up trying to explain it to them."
"I ordered a beautiful Fender Ukulele in turquoise from these folks. Although it was a "returned" item, and at a $20 "discount", I had no warning or clue the E and A tuners were "defective". When I called Musicians Friend, and explained my situation, and informed them of the "Implied Warranty of Merchantability" the girl I talked too started making up excuses and explanations, basically shining me off to contact Fender for the bad tuners! Horrid customer service and employees who treat customers like garbage. I will never buy from Musicians Friend again, and neither should you!"
"I ordered a gt1000 and it came with no serial numbers on it, I returned it and it took forever to get my money back, but the customer service was the worst I'd ever seen they'd actually lie to get out of the phone call or live chat, sad cause I used to like this company I will never order from them again and their prices are high now anyway. Spend your money elsewhere!"
