"Product is great and price was good too, however delivery was very slow. I was happy to see that customs hadn't opened the parcel or charged GST, but then I don't understand why it has to take 5 weeks to get from Toronto (or New Jersey) to Melbourne. If I need something quickly I wouldn't use your show at the moment: I have received things from Hong Kong (granted, a bit closer) w/in 3 working days (5 days), and maximum wait of 12 days.

"The overall experience has been very positive.
I believe I paid a very competative price for a product I already know to be a quality item.
Shipping was as promised and packaging etc. was good. Only the instruction book was bad. It took me some time to work out what to do and I did not immediately realise that I did not need the C.D. marked "Drivers" With the instruction book, I got a paper with a long list of drivers which was ( and still is ) a complete mystery to me.

I did eventually get the hard drive up and running and am very happy with it.

This experience has in no way put me off buying from this store again, but they really should review their instruction manuals. They are obviously printed in China, but that is not an excuse. It only needs a little effort to make make a huge difference.

"Simply a home user, I was disappointed the hard drive was not as shown, it was bulkier than I expected and black not silver. Although
the shipping and transaction was very quick. I found the instructions and software were very unclear, however an immediate response from customer service and support lead me to a website where the installation instructions were easy and accurate. I was also able to save them in a pdf file for future use. Although I work on my computer I am no trained tech. The support was terrific, fast and simple. I am delighted to now have a 120 GIG external hard drive that works well and is a snap to use. The terrific customer support, and simple solution have made my experience great and disappointment of product being a little different minimal. I still would suggest changing the photo of this product and showing a side view, as this hard drive is bigger than expected and won't fit in your pocket:) That said I will also say, for the price, speedy transaction and the great customer support it has made this a worth while investment. I think customer support here was excellent and that made all the difference to me. I would certainly DOUBLE check the photo and description the next time as this was much bulkier than expected and NO NAME generic reboxed. I should have paid more attention, as what you SEE is not always what you get. Most of us like a bargin but it should ultimately be our choice, when it is not it leaves a bitter taste.

"He sold me (via eBay) a recertified/refurbished drive, which he advertised as "brand new"...and said that its price included a "one-year worldwide warranty".

What I received was VERY low-quality & damaged equipment...which completely stopped functioning within a few months.

When I finally tracked down this vendor by phone, he was exceptionally RUDE & FOUL-MOUTHED, and refused to honor the warranty that he had advertised (& I had supposedly paid for).

I then discovered 2 major anti-Narro blogs -- created & maintained by his many victims -- and realized that my nightmarish experience with this degenerate seller has unfortunately been shared by many others.

In short, my all-time worst online transaction; save yourself a ton of anxiety by shopping elsewhere!

"I purchased an external drive casing from Narro via eBay (Buy-It-Now Auction #5128012208). The casing he sent was not the correct color (I ordered black and he sent silver) and it was not even the same manufacturer/style that he advertised in the auction or at his store. Upon contact, he immediately admitted to the error (as if he was expecting my complaint), and said that he would pay for return shipping and ship out the correct item to me. I returned the casing to him immediately, but over the next six weeks he either did not respond to my emails or he would just continually put me off another week, stating things like "the Narro Corp Returns Department only processes returns each Sunday evening." He previously gave me the conflicting excuse of not responding to my emails because "Narro Corp employees do not work on weekends." I later found out that Narro Corp is a one-man company -- this same person runs all the "departments" out of a single rental warehouse in New Jersey. After waiting for six weeks while Narro had both my money and the returned drive casing, I filed an official complaint with eBay. Unfortunately, I could no longer file a complaint with PayPal because I trusted him to do the right thing and unknowingly went beyond the deadline for filing a PayPal complaint by mere hours. This is when things really started getting ugly. I received dozens of emailed threats and even extortion, claiming that if I did not withdraw the eBay complaint that he would ruin my credit, file complaints with both eBay and PayPal against me (not quite sure for what), and he would ruin my perfect eBay feedback score by leaving a negative feedback on my eBay account. He also flat out said that he would not refund my money while I had a complaint filed against him. He also threatened the same things if I left negative feedback on his eBay account. After enduring weeks of this type of rude and unprofessional behavior, I eventually was able to get my credit card company to refund the amount of the purchase by forwarding print-outs of all the email he sent, as well as proof that he had received my returned item over a month ago. I never did get my return shipping refunded though.

Please review the ratings of this seller here and search the internet for "Narro" before buying anything from him. You should also check his eBay feedback, as there are over 700 negative/neutral feedbacks (most of the neutrals are actually negatives that have since been withdrawn when a buyer caved into his extortion). There have been two websites (blogs) created about what a horrible eBay seller his is, with hundreds of comments posted of the horror stories in dealing with this vendor. He is currently committing warranty and brand fraud, while also charging sales tax for purchases shipped outside of his operating state of New Jersey, and is even charging Canadian orders sales tax. He was recently featured in an Entrepreneur Magazine article as an "eBay millionaire", where he clearly admitted to buying refurbished internal hard drives in bulk, putting them in generic casings, and then reselling them on eBay. All of his eBay auctions are listed as "New and factory sealed." How can that be if they are refurbished, home-made external drives? Save yourself the headache -- do not buy from this vendor. Their merchandise is inferior, and the customer service and technical support are completely non-existent. If you're able to buy a product from him and not have any interaction with him throughout the process, you might do just fine. All that happened to me was he sent me the wrong item, and I was abused by him for his own mistake for over a month. Buyer beware!

Just an update on this guy -- check out www.motherfathercockerspaniel.com for an incredible story. Since my dealings with him, he has been charged and indicted on multiple counts of theft by deception by a joint task force of the FBI and NJ State Police! Apparently his entire eBay and Amazon businesses are considered completely fraudulent. Stay away from this guy!

"Item #140007207369 on eBay. I read the ad carefully. I was expecting a "WD EAGLE EXTERNAL 250GB USB 2.0 SLIM MOBILE HARD DRIVE", and what I got was NOT a WESTERN DIGITAL Mobile hard drive "brand new" and "in its retail packaging and factory sealed", but instead a full-sized hard drive either removed from it's original brand new packaging (or used to begin with) and mounted in an obscure-brand external enclosure. On top of all of that the unit is Black and not Silver as in the pictures on the Ebay listing. I am an I.T. professional that services over 1000 systems and networks a year, and I am very much aware of what I am talking about when it comes to the technical issues that NARDO argues; in this case: 1.) the so-called "external" drive is not Western Digital, as Western Digital themselves will attest; just as me putting an "Intel" motherboard into a generic case does not make it an "Intel" computer, or me putting a new Mercedes engine into a new Hyundai body does not make it a factory-new Mercedes. 2.) the drive is not "brand new", "factory sealed", OR "in it's original packaging", as you already removed the individual components in order to mount them in the enclosure. The moment that the individual products were removed from their original, from-the-manufacturers-factory packaging, they became USED. 3.) the correct definition for a "mobile" hard drive is one that is of the "mobile" form factor, 2.5". A true "mobile" drive would be small enough to easily fit in a pocket of my briefcase, and would be solely USB powered; this drive would require just about the whole briefcase space when you include drive, the AC cord, and it's power block. 4.) When you advertise a "slim, mobile" product as being USB, the assumption is that it is USB powered, as is my Lacie 50GB slim mobile hard drive. Some products come with an AC power cable that can optionally be used and others wholly require it, but Narro's ad mentions neither as being a Requirement. 5.) The drive that I received is BLACK, but I was expecting the same SILVER one that is displayed in the actual Ebay listing. 6.) The drive arrived from UPS banged up and open, not sealed in any way. 7.) I think that the previous six very legitimate, pertinent facts should be enough to explain why my purchase is not satisfactory. I would simply like to return what was sent to me and receive a refund. Mr. Denenberg does not stand by his "An item may be returned for any reason within 30 days from shipment" warranty, as MANY buyers have found out the hard way... The seller always has one-liner responses to everything, and even though the facts are laid on the table, he uses ignorance and beat-around-the-bush tactics to divert from the pertinent issues, in hopes that the customer, whom he obviously doesn't give a damn about, will just give up. What he has advertised is not what I got, and is false and fraudulent in more ways than one, especially when he claims that it is "Brand New, unopened, and Factory Sealed". Well DUH, at the exact moment that he removed the internal hard drive from it's original factory sealed packaging and put it into the cheapo external drive enclosure, it became USED. And the whole external unit that he sells sure as h*ll isn't a Western Digital, they don't make any such thing, anyone can figure that out. What he is failing to see is that what comes around goes around. After my phone conversation with him yesterday that included his childish tantrum and hangup, I can see that he is very predictable in the worst of ways, and it isn't hard to gather the data to prove it. All of these people that he's taken advantage of over the years have built up to the point that we are ready to do something about it, and I am proud to say that I'll be involved with it all. Anybody with me? How about a class-action suit?"

"Extremely rude and immature seller. Refuses to discuss issues, instead makes threats and demands. Is unable or unwilling to provide an accurate invoice. Uses bogus unregistered email address and ecommerce site.

Update: 21 July 2006

By "unregistered email address" I mean that narro sends out emails from addresses other then the one registered with Ebay and Paypal.

Their bogus ecommerce site is where one gets redirected when attempting to pay for an item. Rather then linking directly to PayPal, one is lead through several other sites, entering personal data, before coming back out at PayPal. This is both unnecessary, as eBay/PayPal have well integrated invoicing and payment systems, and rather suspicious.

"I ordered this from eBay. The seller said same day shipping, yet he shipped it out a week later. Also, I had to figure out for myself that the hard drive needed to be formatted and partitioned. "I purchased an external 300GB USB 2.0 hard drive (7200 RPM, 8MB cache) through Narro's eBay listings. The drive is a Western Digital in a generic type external enclosure with USB 2.0 and SATA connections. I got a great price on the drive ($110 shipped) and it was shipped quickly and very well packed. I did have a little bit of difficulty getting the computer (Windows XP Pro) to recognize the drive, because at first I didn't realize the drive was unformatted. I went to Narro's website, and was able to find the formatting instructions through their help section. The drive is up now and works beautifully! It is quiet and fast. It runs coller than the external Fantom drive I have, but a bit warmer than my external Maxtor drive. This was a good buying experience overall!"
