"I needed to buy a networking device, so I placed the order directly with Netgear. That began the nightmare. Although their website got my billing address right, it refused to accept the exact same address for shipping! The site didn't reveal this until after I had placed my order. So, I called their customer service. It turns out that Netgear uses Google Maps to validate shipping addresses. One of my areas of expertise is geographic information systems and I can say with authority that Google Maps is a toy that should absolutely never be used for validating shipping addresses! After the customer service representative consulted Google Maps to verify what I already knew, I was assured there was no way to correct the issue, so I cancelled the order. The top ratings in PC Magazine's Readers' Choice Awards for networking equipment in both categories they cover goes to the competing TP-Link brand as being of much higher quality than anything else on the market. I found what I need on their website and it's even a fraction of the price of the competing Netgear product! The gross incompetence and lack of judgement demonstrated by Netgear management in this matter has lead me to never trust them in anything, ever again."
"I have always purchased Netgear routers for my home. They p[rovid good service and very easy to setup"

Never had a problem with their products.

"Horrible customer service and business demeanor. CSR's hang up on the customer, delete your case history, and aren't empowered to do anything out side of their SOPs. Their people are rude, inept, and incomprehensible.
Their products do not function properly and they don't have the proper support methodology to fix their defective hardware. Do not buy."
"I wanted to buy netgear WNDR 3700 V2. Went on Netgear site, click buyit from netgear. Was out of stock. Called and was told since it is out- I have to wait, since the unit has been released already and I wanted only a V2 (16mb flash). Was told as soon as it is shows available-order it and it will be V2. Surely ~ 2.5 weeks later the unit is available to ship. I call to make sure; I am told order on-lie it is a V2.
4 days later I got delivery, w/o opening the box I see wrong packaging (V1). Surely it is an 8 MB (V1).
Call netgear and I am directed to independent retailer, because apparently buynetgear is not netgear. I explain to the CSR and ask for return Number and prepaid return. I am told to ship on m penny and provide paperwork, I will get reimburesed. Shiped the unit ups tracking shows received and signed. A week later buynetgear tells me that RMA is not in the system and they can't find the returned unit, so I need to send it to them.
A few e-mails, scans and ups tracking info, I am asked to wait for another week, and another week after that for them to find the shipped unit.
Finally I get credit back, $14.XX short. I called and ask how bad their arithmetic is. After long conversation I am assured I will get all the $$$. I get still $.94 short of original purchase price, never mind the return shipping. It is a principal now.... screw the $.94 I am after the blood here.
Netgear rep tells me that I get what I get since I am getting price of the unit and my return shipping.... hmmm.... that's a new one on me. I demanded that I would be reimbursed for original purchase (with shipping and return shipping, since they screwed the pooch here).
I am told literally to take a hike.
However in 2 days I see a $.94 refund...
I am done with them... called credit car, forwarded 13 pages of correspondence with netgear rep assuring for full refund including shipping.
I have a number of switches by net gear- awesome product, but unless I can get the item from Newegg/Amazon I am not getting it

"I purchased a Netgear Prosafe 16 port switch for a the set-up of a home network. I only purchased it because of the $25. Mail-in-Rebate (MIR). I sent in the rebate 3 days too late. It turns out, I only had 30 days to send in the MIR. I never saw this anywhere. I kept reading about the expiration of the program, which was 60 days, but never saw the even finer print that I had 30 days.
In my opinion, it's just a scam. They produce conflicting and poorly worded rules and regualtions, so it's hard to get it exactly correct.
This is my very last Netgear product. If they will rp you off on the rebate, I can only imagine how they are scamming you with the quality of their products.
My advice: Stay Away from Netgear."
"Horrible support service. Had a simple question, as the CD that came with my unit was cracked. Left a support nbote on July 4, 2005. They FINALLY responded to me August 25. This is totally unacceptable customer support. (I took the unit back and got a refund before the response came.)"
"My main issue with this company is not the product itself, but the way they handle the rebate process. I have had nothing but problems getting my rebates from them. They were mailed in December 2002...Still nothing in the mail! I have contacted them several times....First they said it was refused by my address. I confirmed my location, just to make sure...next time when I called they read me the wrong address. I just recently called them back, and said one of my rebates had been mailed...but no check yet...also they tend to say anything to get you off the phone. When I talked to them back in July they said I would get both checks in 7 to 10 days. My advice to you would be to stay away from this company. If they are dishonest about this...who knows what else is going on. I have been very lucky with rebates from other companies. I have purchased 7 products with rebates in the last year..the only one I don't have is the netgear.
Thanks"
