"Ordered a 2TB hard drive & replacement battery for a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro. Both are 5 star buys. The 4 stars are for OWC’s search eng. & shipping.

OWC needs a major fix to their “search” feature. I searched for my battery on OWC with zero results. Just searching “battery” after multiple searches resulted in this statement from OWC’s website “Your search for Battery didn’t return any results.”…What? I had to go back to a web browser and lookup “MacSales”! (Lucky for me I’ve been buying Mac parts from MacSales since before OWC days, so I knew the name was a part of OWC.)
On MacSales my battery showed up in my first search using MacSales search. What an incredibly stupid oversight that’s probably lost untold sales for OWC!
On shipping:
I live in The same Chicago area as OWC & don’t think it should have taken 4 days (3-working days) to deliver a package 30 miles away. I bought $250. Of product & got free shipping as a result. Shipping is UPS SurePost (in partnership with the US Postal Service). UPS is the only reliable shipper today. Their partnership w/USPS caused a delay of at least another day. "

"I am SO impressed. I purchased a OWC docking station, finally found time to set it up during the weekend. But for some reason one monitor just was not registering. Being that it was the weekend, their phone support teams only work weekdays. But they had a live chat support option that operates certain hours on Saturdays. I worked with a guy named "Robert J" and he was SO patient, asked fantastic questions, and we spent about 20-30 mins troubleshooting different solutions until we finally figured it out.
In contrast, I was also getting support from Dells Twitter support system and they were not NEARLY as helpful or hands on.
This is my first time purchasing from OWC, but based on this experience I intend to purchase in the future. "
"I've had a number of bad experiences with Other World Computing and their Customer Support. All of their mirror drives have failed within weeks of their three year warranty lapsing and these devices were only used a maximum of three times each year. OWC also sells Drive Genius from ProSoft Engineering and when there's a problem with the software (such as an invalid Serial Number) they refuse to help and refer me back to ProSoft. ProSoft first provides a replacement Serial number that doesn't work and then they say their software won't work on the version of Mac OS that I was using when I purchased the program. This applies to both Drive Genius and Data Rescue 4.
When I contacted ProSoft they came up with yer another excuse and responded with: "Unfortunately, Data Rescue licenses are locked on one computer and cannot be transferred and reset."
That excuse doesn't apply here as I owned and was using the older laptop when I bought the Data Rescue 4 USB stick. When I tried to point this out to Mark at Data Rescue he ended the chat abruptly.
I then called OWC and they said "This is unacceptable but we can't do anything for you. We only sell the device."
This should serve as fair warning to anyone looking to do business with Other World Computing, also known as macsales.com, or ProSoft Engineering. These are companies devoid of any semblance of integrity. I've been purchasing from OWC since 2009 and this is the last straw. I'm only listing one item, the Data Rescue product as there's no way to list more than one product in this review. Were there an option to list more I'd have at least 5 items to list from OWC. "
