"I visited the Oxfam America Unwrapped site three times, the first during the period where there was a matching grant if one donated an emergency toilet. I was trying to purchase THREE toilets as gifts. The website kept adding donations, so finally I gave up. Tried calling to see whether I had ordered any of the three, but the person on the end of the line said she could not access my order, that I would have to call later. Frustrating.
This last time I did order (I hope!) three toilets, but when I tried to make a donation other than $50, it would only put in $50. I felt very pressured by this automatic forced donation, so I declined to add any donation. FRUSTRATING. I believe this could be improved."
"Thanks. It's nice seeing the cost of my donation."
"Liked the PayPal pmt option."
"Website was very easy to use, purchase process was simple. Only part that wasn't perfect was it would be nice to know more about your specific Goat; where and when it will arrive, etc. If this happened I didn't notice it, in which case it needs to be more prominent :) I trust Oxfam, so it isn't the end of the world not to have this information, but it would be fun to be able to provide more specifics about the gift. But the buying experience was right on! "
"Easy, safe, legitimate charity and good cause."
"Love a cute and easy way to help others!"
"The website experience is fine, but the check out process was not. It took me 5 tries to finally complete the transaction. I wanted to round up my donation by $6, which is an option, but when I did it would remove all of the items so it would go from $144 down to a donation of just $6. Needless to say, I didn't round up, but did finally complete the transaction."
"Simple and easy to donate and send cards. Thank you!"
"This is a high quality charity doing excellent work. The toilet campaign is a fun way to fundraise!"
"It took me a minute and an extra try to just purchase two toilets without giving the purchase as a gift. Just giving the toilets as an outright contribution might have been an option. I hope that my contribution actually purchases toilets and is not used for administration or more fundraising. I already give money for that."
"We submitted our donation, which said would be matched -- thus making it a donation of two toilet facilities -- but there was no mention of the match on any of the e-mails we received."
"I ordered exactly what I wanted within just a few minutes. Everything was very simple and straight forward, and very easy to turn into a gift by sending a personalized card."
"Instructions were easy to follow. No problems downloading the PDF card so I could give it to my honoree immediately. "
"Used PayPal, no problem. Bought a toilet for Oxfam as a charitable gift."
"First, I pay attention to messages from Oxfam because I have known the organization for years--and I have an abiding trust in the organization. So, the "give a potty for Christmas" idea was a catchy extension of the creative charitable giving phenomenon that our family has been participating in for several years (with Oxfam and other organizations). My experience with this campaign was brief and happy. The email took me right to the website. The "ask" was right there and readily explained, and I made my decision right away. Easy to decide and easy to complete the transaction. Altogether, I'd say very nicely done."
