"When I first entered Pictureline's SLC store I was impressed. Beginning with the low key welcome from a salesperson to the upscale decor which begged for my attention at multiple displays I was drawn further into the store and the culture of Pictureline. Sales representatives had great product knowledgeable and stayed focused on my current needs and desires. I discovered that many of the sales reps were specialists in given products. I am a Nikon shooter and Pictureline has a Nikon guru, a Canon guru and a Leica guru as well as a software and peripherals guru.
I became a Pictureline regular after the Nikon D3 was introduced, Since that time I have not bothered to shop and any local retail camera store or online store. I was recently on a shoot and ran into another Nikon photographer. He was shooting a D3s with a Nikkor 70-200 2.8. He was looking for a wide depth of field, which that lens does so well. I wanted to highlight the subject and was shooting with a Nikkor 85mm 1.4 wide open for shallow depth of field. He noticed the lens I was shooting and mentioned that his 85 was on backorder from an online dealer, and he couldn't wait for it to come in. He had been waiting for weeks and I walked into Pictureline the day I heard the 85 was available and bought mine off the shelf. Funny thing is Pictureline's price was so close to the the online price and I didn't have to pay any shipping.
On one occasion I needed a small bracket and ordered it from Pictureline's site. With the price of gas and time required to make the trip personally I figured their bare minimum shipping cost was tolerable. To my surprise the bracket was at my door the next day.
My most recent purchase was a soft box for my SB900 speed light. It was a last minute purchase made on my way to shoot the largest client I have ever had. In a few short years and with the exceptional assistance of the staff at Pictureline I have moved from the occasional shooter of pretty landscapes and architecture to a profitable portrait photographer. "
"Pictureline is a superb company . . . in both product offerings and customer service. I have become a huge, raving fan of this company. They take the time to get to know you by name and treat you like you're the only customer on earth. With a knowledgeable staff, generous free-training workshops and a wide array of the best products,I will always work with Pictureline. Even if I move out of state, I'll continue to patron them. In image, style and philosophy, they are to the photography industry as Apple is to computers and awesomeness."
"I was given a Digital SLR for Christmas a few years back and went to the Downtown SLC store to get a camera bag. The sales rep was extremely helpful in picking out the right one for me and even helped with some questions I had about my camera. I continue to go back to the store for large or small items I may need and get the same great service every time. I even ordered my Apple TV through them instead of waiting in line at the Apple stores. "
"I recently purchased the Canon 70-200 f4 from pictureline. I came into the store unsure whether or not I wanted/needed the f4 or f2.8. A helpful salesman showed me both lenses and took the time to explain to me the differences between the two. I left with a brand new lens, and a lot more knowledge than when I came in. The entire transaction was smooth. I will be purchasing all of my camera gear from pictureline going forward."
"Our studio has been buying from Pictureline for years and just this morning bought 2 new 5Ds from Pictureline. After the purchase I couldn't help but think about how really its their customer services that keep us coming back time and again.
Thanks Pictureline crew."
"Pictureline is A+ (The BEST) I have lived on both coasts and have long experience with Gasser in San Francisco, Sammy's in L.A, and B&H and Adorama in NYC. Between the coast, there is no competition for the quality of advice, expertise and help you get a Pictureline SLC. They are less expensive than Inkley's and in everything else it's no contest. Just today I took delivery of my second Elinchrome Ranger, and everything was perfect as it has been with all the lenses and bodies I have bought there. Sasha, Dave, Leslie, Berkley, Chris in rentals and especially Jens who makes it all work, I love them all. S.R. Fordesign."
"I live in Salt Lake City and have used Pictureline. I would like people to know they do not give you cash refunds but in store credit only. I did not know this and found out the hard way. If you want a store that gives you a satisfaction guarantee shop at Inkleys, they back up what they sell."
"Recently I made the plunge and upgraded all my equipment; Canon 5D Mark ii, and several lenses. Prior to the upgrade I was using Canon's xsi and found that I truly loved photography. Now that I have been shooting for 3 years and finally had my first professional opportunity I realized that my equipment was just not going to meet my future needs. I spent a great deal of time researching the various camera and lens lines, but I was still nervous about making the investment. When I went into Pictureline I met with with David Ward. David immediately helped me feel confident about what I was setting out to accomplish and assured me that my lack of technical expertise was not a flaw but rather a great opportunity for me to learn. I found that I began to feel more like a student than a want to be photographer. Pictureline's staff, in my eyes, are extremely professional, genuine, patient and are the elite of the photography industry in SLC. Thank you for all your help! Sharlene Evans."
"I purchased my Canon 7D from Pictureline and was impressed that they had the camera in stock when many other places did not.
I chose to purchase my camera from them rather than from a prominent New York store because they had a kit with the lens that I wanted and their price was similiar. Even though I had to pay sales tax it was important to me have local service and support.
Since the purchase, the sales staff have been wonderful, patiently answering all of my questions. They are professional with a complete working knowledge of the equipment that they sell. In addition, Picturline provides classes on a weekly basis in the areas of photography that are important to me. Their selection of equipment is very complete.
I only shop at Pictureline for my photographic needs."
"I recently moved to Utah and found out about Pictureline through a friend. I've had nothing but excellent customer service from day one and have made Pictureline the primary store I shop at for camera equipment.
I recently purchased a brand-new Canon 7D from Pictureline; they didn't have one available for sale when I called (the first day that they had them in the store) but promised they would call when one was available for me to buy ... and they did! That same afternoon. I couldn't have asked for more personal customer service.
Pictureline is the BEST camera and photography equipment store that I have ever been to. The staff is very knowledgeable, they treat everyone with respect and NEVER try to push you to buy something. They listen well and are very helpful.
In a nutshell Pictureline has very competitive prices, wonderful staff (especially Nick at the Draper store!), and takes excellent care of its customers. HIGHLY recommended."
"As others have written, I placed an order for a Canon DSLR. Their website said it was in stock, but just to make sure I decided to call and verify since it was a new camera and I was needing it for a project within a week. Everything checked out so I placed the order. Well a few days later I get a call saying it's not in stock so my order will not go through. Plus they have no ETA when they will be in stock. Don't trust the websites, or the representative when they assure you an item is in stock."
"> Comment: This is a long story.
> About two months ago I got every thing organized for a very large purchase of camera goodies. 5D mark II, 16-35L, 70-200L, 580EX II, tripod, filters, bag, battery grip, and some other things. Awesomeness. We were upgrading our equipment in a large way. I have been taking pictures since high school and am currently employed as a medical photographer at the University of Utah Neurosciences Center. The reason I tell you that is because after I gather all the information needed on what to buy the purchasing department takes over. I specifically told them that we need to buy all of this equipment from Pictureline because I know it's all there and they are great to work with. I have rented and purchased through you many times before.
> Alright, this story is long and boring. Short story is that the purchasing department went with Inkleys. "Inkleys!!!" I yelled out. This is a joke and it is not a funny one. They did and they said it would be ready in a week. A week later we personally drove down to Inkeys to pick up some items. They didn't have every thing in yet but we did pick up the camera body and 16-35. I was pretty excited non the less for what we did have and I was told the other items would be in in a week. I left to the Tetons for some photography fun. Before I left I noticed that the UV filters were not B&W like I had ordered, the camera bag was not the bag I ordered, and the memory card was not the card I ordered. I called them and wanted to know why they switched things around with out asking. They said that they were equivalents but I know they aren't. Any way I had already used them in my excitement so returning them was more hassle than I could deal with. I thought to myself that the bag was probably too small for that 70-200 and all my other crap.
> When I got back The 70-200 and battery grip still weren't in. I called down and wanted to find out why but the only answer I got was that they will call the warehouse and call me back. The call back never happened. Nor do they ever mention the battery grip.
> Blah blah blah the last time I called about the lens and battery grip they said they were having problems with Canon so go some where else. It had been two months by now. Now the money movers listened to me and we put in the order for the lens and battery grip with Pictureline. I was happy and had faith that you all would pull through after such an ordeal. Of course you guys had the battery grip but the lens was on back order or not in stock but I was fine to give you a chance.
> One week later I began calling, not to annoy but I was so stoked. I am sorry. Yesterday the 27th of August I called at 9:04 or some thing stupid like that to check but it was not in. Every time I had called in the person on the other line, whether it was Dave, or Berkley, or the lovely ladies, were so kind and patient with me. The best part is that they explained things to me on why it was so. I love that. Any way on the 27th at 9 it was not in. At 2:00ish I went home. I got a page from the hospital around 2:30 saying that some one was here at the OR front desk with a delivery for me. I squealed with delight and turned around.
> Amazing! I was floored at how awesome this was that you would deliver it so fast, but I really shouldn't be surprised. So any way I got all my junk together in that crap bag Inkleys gave me and it did not fit. Or course. So this morning I came in and the money movers did there thing so I called Pictureline looking for a bag. I wish I could remember the ladies name who helped me on the phone but she was awesome. She went out and tried the bag out to see how much room was in there. I thought that was nice of her, even of she didn't I thought it was great.
> An hour later I was down there in my scrubs picking up the Jack. First of all the bag smelled amazing but it also held all my junk. Awesome.
> Thank you for your customer service when customers service had failed me previously. You all are awesome and I love giving you my business. I love your store. If you are still reading then I appologize for wasting that minute of your life but I sincerely am grateful that you all are around.
> Thank you, Kelly Johnson"
"A few friends and I took two classes (Canon Digital SLR Camera & Photography 201) from Pictureline in Salt Lake City in July.
Our instructors (Sasha & Leslie)were fabulous. They took the time to really help us understand the basics and sometimes overwhelming concepts.
We are hooked! Sasha even helped us create a photography club. We'll be coming back for more classes often!

"I purchased InvisibleSheield protector for my Canon 50D series camera. When the shipment arrived on 17th, the protector was missing from the box. After e-mailing to ****@**** at 1:34pm, I received a response (from Sharon Taylor) at 1:42pm stating "We will get a replacement sent out today."
In today's market, I have yet to see anyone do a better job of taking care of their customers."
"They're really good when you spend thousands of $$$ in camera equipment. but when problems arise they will drop you and take any plea you make into a personally offending attack towards them. their return policy is ridiculously unfair and their post sale customer service is totally unprofessional. I have spent thousands of dollars in this store this year alone, but a simple incident of a simple return turned into personal matter that they took against me. So far all the positive comments here relate to sales and pricing and all of that but where are the positive reviews on returns and resolving problems like this one for example:
http://forums.photographyreview.com/showpost.php?p=334540&postcount=5
i'd think twice before starting a professional relationship with this store.
