"Around the 12th December 2004, I purchased an Epson P-2000 in Pixmania. By that time time item was not in stock (it was due for a couple of days later), but I thought the margin should be enough to get it at least by Christmas. What followed was a successive postponement of the date the item was due to be in stock. At some time the date was postponed to 20th January. Around that time I had waited enough and decided to cancel my order. Looking at my credit card account, I was quite surprised to see that it had already been charged (in the same day I made the order), despite the fact that Pixmania didn't even have the item in stock. That's simply how they make business, it seems. I emailed support and requested an imediate return of the money and the cancelation of the order. After a couple of weeks the money had been returned.
As the Epson P-2000 was out of stock almost everywhere, I was a bit relieved when I got a notification from Pixmania that they had the item in stock (this in 12th January 2005). I just though that I had had bad luck with the stock in the previous order, so I decided to give Pixmania another try. After all, they advertise in their site that when an item is in stock, they have a compromise in delivering the item in at least 48h. Unfortunately for me, I item also had its price increased by 20 EUR.
I went to the website and the item was in stock. I ordered it again. And then I waited, and waited. Three days after, I decided to email customer support asking for my order (again, my credit card had already been charged the same day I made the order). Note that during this time the item was always in stock, in the website. The support team took five days to answer my email, simply saying the item was not in stock and that it should be around February 11th. Somewhere in between, the website was updated and the item was no longer in stock (now it's due to be in stock for "more than 10 days").
So now I am again on wait, waiting for an already paid item that Pixmania doesn't even have in stock. I don't recommend Pixmania to anyone, keep out if you can. They deceive, charge your credit card immediatelly and the support is really bad."
"I ordered a camcorder package from the Greek site by credit card,no problems absolutely.Very fast delivery,3 days I think,it came to my house in,I guess, 98% packaging.Everything was in perfect condition, though.Great price.I've used it three batteries worth of time and no problems from the camera(luckily). That was my only fear ordering online, hoping not to have to test their customer service..."
"Having already purchased a digital camera from Pixmania in October 2004, I thought that there would be no issues with purchasing anther camera on the same terms in January 2005. However, I was gravely mistaken. Due to restrictions on receiving personal goods at my office I had requested that the camera this time (as before) be delievered to my boyfriends parents house. This time around Pixmania required a copy of my passport and one of my boyfriends parents utility bills as well as a copy of my passport prior to delivery! I tried to contact them to discuss their requirements and perhaps find a work around considering that I was already an existing customer and they had already received all my details and delivered to my boyfriends parents house before but, no, they simply cancelled my order with no explanation. I find this quite unbelievable. But clearly, if they feel they can turn customers away, I would recommend to others considering using them not to bother, as their customer service levels are simply non-existent! I can not imagine why they have introduced such ridicolous requriements on their web site. It is not as if I wanted to open a bank account when such requirementse may have been viewed as acceptable! Also, I am unsure as to the benefit of recieving faxed copies of these documents when they could clearly be forged!"
"Shocking customer service again! I have been waiting for two months for the flash to be repaired on my Pentax Optio S4. Customer services (when I can get hold of them) refuse to give any commitment as to when my camera will be returned and simply ask me to send them an e-mail. Of course these e-mails go unanswered.
In the meantime I have moved from the UK and I have missed out on any photos of my trip to Australia, NZ and Christmas.
Customer service does not seem to mean much to this company as they won't even arrange for the camera to be sent to me in NZ. This is despite the fact that they have had 2 months to repair a simple fault.
Avoid Pixmania like the plague... the small saving you can make on the purchase price isn't worth it."
"Same problem as others have noted. Bank Debit card, comimg to same address as account. Gave them phone number, etc. but they still want such things as copies of driving licenses.
I will not supply these as it would allow someone at Pixmania to impersonate me too easily, when put together with the data already supplied.
I really don't see any reason why this should be necessary and no-one else asks fo it."
"I recieved my Pentax Optio S5i 10 days after being promised by customer services. My camera went faulty within 2 days and it has now been a further 2 weeks without a camera as Pixmania will not refund me, until Pentax confirm the lens fault, despite their 7 day guarantee (not worth the web site it is written on!). They also cannot confirm reciept of my 512Mb card until they e-mail France, this has taken 1 week to find out! Not a good experience, despite the cheap goods, i am going back to Dabs who at least are based in the UK and can deal with problems quickly, they also have a UK 14 day guarantee which is legally applicable"
"I ordered a Canon Powershot S60 digital camera, a case and a memory card from Pixmania. The camera arrived defective. It did not take focused pictures, and the pictures were also void of color. I suspect an internal lens-related part was broken.
I returned the defective camera to Pixmania, and they assured me that within 10 days my replacement request will be handled and I will obtain a replacement camera. It has been now 7 WEEKS (!) and I am still waiting to hear from them. They seldom answer my e-mails; my phone calls are useless. I have already paid for the camera, and they refuse to send me a new camera or reimburse me before their technical evaluation has been done, at some unknown time in the future... After the first 10 days went by, they promised an answer within 30 days, and when the 30 day mark went by, they just don't promise anything anymore.
I bought the camera for an upcoming trip, which has happened a month ago, and to which I did not have the camera I was hoping to have. Now I am not sure I will even have the camera for christmas next month.
I put this as a cuationary tale to future Pixmania customers. STAY AWAY FROM PIXMANIA!"
"I ordered an "IN STOCK" computer mouse this company, they wanted extra ID details sent to them since I was requesting the item sent to my work address. I know someone that ordered one too from the same place at the sametime. You would think that after the payment was taken but ID details were needed for security confirmation that an "IN STOCK" item would have been reserved for me. Nope, they are now out of stock even though I ordered an IN STOCK item and every point of my order tracking waiting for them to update it to the next stage of processing stated "IN STOCK". They say they will have more stock in about a week, but they won't have my business... Cancelled my order.
In fact my online tracking still listed the item as being IN STOCK and their product page lists the item as being IN STOCK. Being the first UK retailer to have this item will get them a lot of orders. With them not actually having any of these in stock I would think that they will get a lot of first time customers who will consequently cancel their orders and not consider purchasing from the site again...
Would not recommend this retailer to anyone."
"Ordered a camcorder - website says it's in stock and order is processed without problem. €800 is taken from my credit card. Having to prove my identity subsequently was a bit of a nuisance .
3 weeks later still no delivery, I call pixmania who say that they can no longer get the product I ordered. I don't know when they were going to tell me! However, I am offered an alternative for an extra €300. AT this time the web page still says my camera will be with me "soon".
When I complain there is no sense at all that they feel remotely sorry. They won't let me speak with a supervisor. Eventually I'mm offered €50 off of the more expensive model, which is being offered by other companies at a fraction of the price Pixmania are asking for.
Altogether unsatisfactory. However, when I went elsewhere I got the original item I was after for a similar price, and with no fuss. I won't use Pixmania again, and what's more I'll tell all my friends not to."
"Appalling customer service.
They don't tell you till AFTER you order they require further security info by fax.
No facility to modify or cancel orders online.
Don't try to phone them because you get cut off without ever talking to anyone."
"Absolutely Shocking Customer Service !!!!!!!!!
I will be concise with my review, because I have already wasted enough of my time on the telephone to their customer service department (after I eventually managed to get through).
To cut a long story short I ordered a printer and some paper as a birthday present 3 weeks ago. The printer still hasn't arrived and I have been told that it will not be in stock for another 3 weeks.
In the meantime the price of the printer has now gone up by 25 pounds. So even if I accepted their offer of my money back I would be unable to purchase a replacement printer elsewhere. Therefore I am faced with, at best, a 6 week wait for the goods after I have paid for them.
But my major problem is with the seeming arrogance of the customer support staff and in particular of the customer services manager. Despite being politely asked numerous times, she has refused to speak with me, preferring to relay messages via the telephone operators.
I would urge any one contemplating dealing with these people to consider their choice very carefully. In my opinion I would spend that extra couple of pounds and buy from a reputable source instead. You maybe OK if they have the item you require in stock, but if not then buyer beware.
I certainly will never be dealing with them again."
"They had worked very well for my order. I can suggest them to all of you."
"After leaving the pixmania web site under the impression that I had just bought a £500 camera with my credit card, pixmania e-mailed me demanding that I fax them a copy of either my driving licence, birth certificate, or passport before the purchace could proceed.
This is declined to do on the grounds that a. I do not have a fax machine, b. no mention of this demand was made prior to ordering, and c. no other e-tailer I am aware of makes any such demands.
I telphoned Pixmania and was informed that the demand was being made on the instructions of their insurance company and that in spite of not being pre-informed was in fact a condition of the sale. They said also that at the time we spoke my credit card had not been debited and that cancelling the order was the only option if I did not wish to provide such documentation.
The following day, when trying to purchase the same camera froma different source I found that Pixmania HAD in fact taken money from my card which would take another 5 days to refund.
In my opinion Pixmania is not to be trusted."
"Ordered an Epson 950 on 26th October - item was stated as being in-stock! Received email confirmation on the 27th stating that the item was out of stock and would be around 8-10 days. As I couldn't be bothered to cancel I left it at that. On the 5th November they send me another email staing the product will be a further 10 days (total 18 days for an "in-stock" item). I therefore contacted them and requested they cancel my order, which they did without fuss (to their credit).
I get annoyed by companies who feel they have to be dishonest about their stock levels in order to try and secure an order!"
"Prezzi veramente competitivi. Ottimo assortimento e scelta, anche di combinazioni di acquisto. La merce e' arrivata in meno di 36 ore dall'ordine. Ottimo"
