"Bought a $4K Famaj Mixer. Item broke shortly after, but it was past the 30 day return period. They offered to still take it back, but I had to pay the original outbound shipping and the return shipping. (Greater than $1500.00 total). Business advertises free shipping for iems over $75. This is the first scam. Then, since the item was under warranty for 1 year, they started shipping me parts to fix the machine myself? Then, they started telling me, without having looked at the broken machine, that it was because of my generator power. They stated that this machine was sensitive to generator power. No word of this in the Famag paperwork though. So, on the one hand they are blaming my generator because the mixer is 'so sensitive". But on the the other hand,, they sent me parts and told me to replace then. Switches, power buttons, the entire control board, safety switches, everything. They literally just told me to do it myself. Crazy. No field service rep. No "take it to a certified tech" and we'll reiburse costs for diagnosis. Then to top it all off, they stated that thet only way to get it serviced under warranty is to ship in back to them for almost $800. Then you have to pay to have it shipped back after they fix it. THis is the biggest scam ever. They try to recoup "free shipping" and return shipping on returns, and they have zero capacity to carry out a warranty plan without shipping a heavy, large item back to them. Pathetic business with shady advertisings who will reip you hard when they get the chance. I am looking at a $4000 loss because the only option is to spend $780 each way to get it to them for warranty work. Total scam. Do not buy a large item from these people. They cannot and will not execute their warranty plan without taking you for hudreds/thousands of dollars. Stay away."
"I bought a hydraulic fruit press from Pleasant Hill Grain Company. There was a piece missing so I contacted them via email and their web form. I never heard back from them. I ended up finding the piece under the bottom flap of the cardboard box it came in. Then the water pressure gauge broke off. I chatted with the person on the web page and they gave me the phone number of the head of corporate sales to help me find a replacement. I left several voicemail message but he never returned my call. I went back on line and got their email address and asked them about a replacement part and I never heard back. Their products are good, their packaging is not, and they have the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life."
"I am overseas and I attempted purchase a couple of items for my wife in the States. They declined my order because I have an overseas credit card and bank. They want me to take a day off and go to my bank and set up a wire transfer for $280 and pay the extra fee for a wire transfer. Every other company that I have utilized in the USA has no issues taking my overseas credit card for payment. Pleasant Hills Grain makes it difficult at best for anyone overseas to purchase items for their family back in the USA. Very disappointed, they need to get with modern technology and set it up to accept credit cards from overseas. they need to make it easier for American military and contractors that are working overseas to conduct business with their company."
"I needed a set of Black Berkey replacement elements and numerous replacement parts for my Berkey water system. Since there's so much competition in this retail space, vendors that only sell water filters operate on low margins and as a result, tend to provide poor service and use questionable business practices. Of course, it's extremely unwise to buy anything that touches food from Amazon, because of their inventory policies that result in high percentages of counterfeit products getting shipped. I've always purchased Berkey products from Pleasant Hill Grain, because of these reasons. I was delighted to find that they were the only source that had every single Berkey product that I needed, in stock and ready to ship. Not even Berkey had what I needed in stock! I'm glad that Pleasant Hill Grain makes it difficult for customers to return products, as I would never want to use a water filter element that someone else had returned! As usual, I received all the genuine Berkey products I needed, well packed and factory fresh. I highly recommend Pleasant Hill Grain as the best place to buy Berkey water filters, replacement elements and parts!"
"I bought "organic" soynean from them, but I found out they're NOT organic because their soybeans are not growing sprouts. Also, I can taste if the soybean are oranic or not because I ate organic food for years. I asked to return the product, but I was refused. In the end, I asked my credit company to get this resolved. "I was not very happy with this company's customer service and do not recommend purchasing from them. "
"Hi. I am not a big review writer but when it comes to THE most outstanding customer service and a company that offers the best products anywhere, I wanted to share my knowledge of this Crown Jewel Company, Pleasant Hill Grain. I have been their fan/customer for a very long time and whenever I need a gift, an item personally, they are always my "GO TO" place. Wonderful people, wonderful items. They never disappoint. I always tell people to go visit their site with the highest of expectations because I am confident they will never be disappointed. These folks deliver. Lloyd Kelley Ford, Denver"
"We purchased an Ankarsrum mixer from PHG. I called and placed it with Laurie. She was very professional, and the process took a couple of minutes. They shipped it the next day (I called late afternoon), and it arrived, very well packaged. My wife has greatly enjoyed using the mixer. It is a top-quality one that should last for years! Thanks to Pleasant Hill Grain, we have this mixer for a great price."
"Do not buy from this company. I was a first time buyer and will never buy from them again. Customer Service is rude and argumentative. I received product I had purchased in defective containers. When I called the company they informed me that they would send replacements at no charge. One of the replacements received was more defective than the initial purchase. When I called the company, I was told that the replacements were not at no charge and that they would send FedEx to pick them up or I could purchase the additional containers. FedEx arrived 2 days later without notification to retrieve the products. I was also told that I would receive a replacement container and lid with a tool needed to open the container. That has not been received. There are numerous companies that sell the same products that do not require the purchase of an additional tool. Read reviews before you purchase and do not buy from this company."
"I purchased a vacuum sealer from them and the staff was very helpful as it was my 1st one. They went overboard to help me. After receiving the product I was extremely satisfied with it. It worked awesome. I use it for my business an needed a workhorse. People and product were great. Thanks so much Cindy and to the rest. Troy Terrebonne"
"I ordered a grain grinder to grind sprouse it turns out it only grinds certain grains like rice so thes prouse would not fit into the feeder it would just jam.I called pleasant hill grain and found the proper machine when I asked to return it and pay more for the proper machine they told me in the manual it says certain grinds to be used for the machine and the sprouse is not proper so they could not accept a trade in or return. I am very angry with these people because i just waisted 229.99 all they have to do is trade it in the machine is still brand new. These people are crooked thieves and only want your money, they do not care about their customers. Do not purchase anything from these thieves."
"Make sure you know what you want and don't expect expert advice from this company. Not an ethical company. sold me an $800.00 printer/scale for USDA use and after trying months to figure out how to get info on the scale unsuccessfully called them about the issue in which they stated they didn't know and suggested for me to call the company that builds it. I did only to find out that it is not for the use they claimed it would do and I called pleasant hill back and they said they would take it back but give me a $300.00 credit on something else. this is the second time this company did this one with a so called professional knife sharpener that ruined good kitchen knives. they were nice in purchasing but were rude and didn't back up what they didn't know in the first place. second strike there will not be a third I will never have anything to do with this company again."
"I ordered a KoMo classic grain mill. The mill didn't grind the jasmine & basmati rice as expected and it took 3-4 grindings to get fine flour. If grinding was performed at medium-coarse setting, rice was cracked, at best. I even sent rice sample for them to test. Regardless, when I contacted Pleasant Hill Grain (seller), they stated 3-4 grindings doesn't make the mill defective and hence, they will charge a restocking fee, unless I bought something of equivalent value from them. The only items of equivalent value Pleasant Hill Grain sold were other KoMo grain mills, which all use similar grinding stones/mechanisms. I am having to return an item that I can not use and have paid 10% of the price just to find out that item is not for me. Truly disappointing.
As of 7/4/12, Pleasant Grain Hills contacted me and issued me a full refund (no restocking fee charged). I am pleasantly surprised."
"Product ordered were as advertised and arrived quickly except for shoulder straps for the apple bag that were missing. Customer service was friendly and sent the missing shoulder straps."
