"Bottom line - avoid this company. They use bait & switch as standard operating procedure. I placed an order for a Sony camcorder and the web site said it should arrive in 7-10 business days. Next day I received an email asking me to call "to confirm your credit card information."
I called, stayed on hold for 5 minutes, and endured an attempt to upgrade me to the "US package" (vs. "international") for an additional $60. I declined and was told the battery and charger were not the original Sony issue. The guy then informed me it might arrive in about 6 weeks.
It's doubtful the advertised price is even available, the 6 weeks is probably to get the buyer to cancel the order if they won't be scammed into paying $60 more than the advertised price.
This company is scum."
"I agree with all of the most negative of the reviews. Essentially I had the same experience. Some people, apparently, do have a good sales experience but why in the world would you even start to deal with people like these (Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves) and entrust them with all of your credit card information? AND they have your email address that they can use for spamming or to sell to spammers. I can't believe that this company and these people are scoring even as high as they are. And remember, if you get charged for something and never get it, virtually all of the credit card companies will credit your card and debit the seller but this process, too, is time consuming and involves some arm wrestling with the credit card company. "I feel that I was deceived because the original sale price. I received an email for me to contact your company and then a sales rep tells me the camcorder I purchased at your site was a Chinese version and I needed to upgrade to the US version for a warranty. It said nothing about a Chinese version on this product. Then I had to pay a next day fee for it to arrive on time for a friend party. I put my order in on Tuesday and paid for a two day business arrival fee. The original price for everything was about $380, after the call I had to pay about $440. I'm not happy, because I need this camcorder and I don't want to miss this event."
"I decided to try to buy a Cannon Camera from these people despite some of the negative comments I found on this site. Do Not Order From Them. When you buy you are asked to confirm. The first confirmation went smoothly and I was told it would be shipped today. After two days I checked the website and found out that confirmation was still required. This time I was told it was out of stock so I canceled the order. Typical Bait and Switch. I am still waiting to see if my credit card is charged. After so much bad press they probably should be blacklisted."

This allows them to a give you the hard sell to try to get a you to buy add ons and accessories. In the end, I was very happy with working with the RainbowTronics salesperson. I am an amateur home video enthusiast and a professional wannabe. I did a lot of research not only in which camcorder to buy but also where to buy. Based on the reviews, I decided on the Sony HDR-HC7 camcorder. As far as where, I finally settled on RainbowTronics. Not only did they have the lowest price, they are professionals who took the time to explain the product. They are courteous, knowledgeable, and honest. I recommend them 100% and will definitely use them for my accessories and future electronic needs.

"With the exception of price terrrible on all fronts. Ordered, received an e-mail asking me to contact them and "confirm" my credit card information. Called and was asked my street address, and then the rep said that he noticed that I had not chosen a warranty. He then asked which warranty I wanted, 3 or 5 year. I said I would opt not to choose one. He then said that if that was the case then after the camera shipped rainbowtronics would be absolved of responsibility for the item. This sounded ridiculous so I told him to cancel the order, which he did very readily. I am very certain of two things 1. Prices are artificially low, so if people don't purchase one of the warranties it is easy for them to not close the sale, because without the sale of the warranty the sale of the product alone is not worth it to them. 2. The cost of the product a few days later was $40 more, which made the sales rep's job to disregard me as a customer that much easier. These guys are crooks. Be prepared to be taken!"
"Absolutely terrible. 10 days after placing my order, it still has not shipped because the company keeps "closing" for several days at a time. There's no advance notice, just a pop-up box on their web site that says they'll be closed for the next few days. Get on again when they're supposed to be open, and you'll find another notice saying that they're closed again. What a sham. I ordered something that I needed in a timely manner. It should have been here by now; Instead, it hasn't been shipped out and won't be until the company decides -- it will be at least another 2 days -- to decide to show up for work again. What a sham. I gladly would have paid extra to go to a store and walk out with my product."

"I ordered a Samsung LCD LN-S3251D 32" Wide HDTV with Integrated ATSC Tuner for $908.
The shipping was 'estimated' at $50. I was e-mailed to call in and verify my credit card. When speaking to the representative he tried to upsell me on video cables which was fine BUT he also told me to refer to their online policy which says TV's require INSURANCE to ship and you CAN NOT decline the insurance. The insurance
addes $118.24 (13%) to the price. I immediatley cancelled the order.
When ordering the product there was no mention of the over priced insurance. In fact the web site clearly states:

"I was on the phone with a RainbowTronics rep and he was verifying my contact information (I had mistyped my CC expiration). He mentioned that my password was something unpronounceable.
Their passwords are stored in clear text! Their customer reps can see them! It is poor security to store passwords that haven't been cryptographically hashed. It's a standard security practice."
