"Absolutely DISGUSTED with the customer service at Shades Emporium. Ordered from them - the next day was told my order "did not pass quality control" and a new pair would ship out in 3-4 business days. Whatever that means. About a week later, having heard NOTHING, I asked if/when this order would ship. Eventually they responded saying they didn't have the product and it would be on backorder for WEEKS. I then sent them a DIFFERENT product to send instead, because had I known in the beginning my order wouldn't ship for over a MONTH, I would've gotten something else. They told me the new order would ship in a standard 3-4 business days. After a few days, I emailed them asking when they would ship. They said my order was "still in processing" and would ship the following week. I then said please cancel the order. They responded saying my order had been canceled and my card would be charged a 35 dollar late cancellation fee. Absolutely pathetic. What kind of company does that? Hopefully they'll look forward to a letter from our attorney."
"I am not at all happy with this company. I placed an order on 12/12, an order for Christmas. I understood that it would take 3-5 days before they shipped my order. Totally accepting that, I paid extra for expedited shipping, thinking they would ship my husband's glasses by no later than the 18th (giving them an extra day even) and with the expedited shipping they would be here by no later than the 22nd. Again, I was allowing them extra days above and beyond what they had promised.
Today is 12/21/2011, and my husband's glasses have yet to be processed and shipped from Shades Emporium. When I emailed them and questioned them about this, they explained that the glasses were coming from the manufacture. As I told them (with no response at all), had they told me this when I first ordered I could have made other arrangements, whether by buying from another company or just planning a different gift since these would not be here on time.
So far, I am not at all satisfied with this company and as it stands, I will never shop with them nor refer anyone to them. My husband fishes in a club with over 250 members and had things gone well, I was planning on referring these people to this company. Again, as it stands, this will not happen. I am hopeful, however, that there are 4 days left and the glasses will be here before Christmas.
I received the glasses on Christmas Eve, thankfully. My advice to Shades Emporium in the future is to notify the customer that the glasses are being ordered from the manufacturer and that it may take extra time than what is stated on their website. I understand that you are dealing with 100s of orders but you need to let your customers know what is happening, especially when people are paying this much for a product. Otherwise, I have to say that I was very pleased with everything else and have changed my rating to reflect that. "

"Shades Emporium - My previous review (that was taken down by this ratings company) was not a lie. In my opinion your website is not clear on the return process. Your glasses took over 2 weeks to arrive from the date I ordered them and this is not the first time. I have ordered before and on that order I finally had to call and ask abut my order, only to be told that the item was out of stock and would be delivered over a month later. At that point I canceled that order. I should have know by first experience not to order again. My mistake. My wife has also ordered several glasses and often complains about delivery times. The only reason she orders in the first place is due to prices, but the slow delivery has moved her to look shop other merchants now. Several of your other reviews appear to have issues with this as well. I chose not to return my current glasses due to past delay in deliveries. I want my glasses fast and not what would seem like a month from now for return of the old ones and delivery of the new ones."

I was looking at so many websites and reading their reviews before i found emporium . i was really skeptical to order online because i read that after many people purchased their orders, these companies would send them an email letting them know their glasses were out of stock and would have to wait about a month to get them. if they got them, they were out of shape. But emporium was not like that at all!!

"My experience with Shades Emporium was nothing, but positive, easy to pick from the huge slection of glasses, name brand designer glasses. I was skeptical at first, due to the deep discount prices, the quality would be disappointing. I gave them as a gift to a lady friend and she was so pleased, i couldn't have made a better choice for her. There were no hidden charges, free delivery and arrived undamaged, prior to the advertised delivery date. I would recommend anyone to use Shades Emporium, you won't regret it. Doug "
"The same product I had bought was $30 cheaper at Shades Emporium. So I ordered one online and immediately returned the one I had bought from a local store.
I'm usually a girl who'd like the get stuff immediately if I like it, so I am more inclined to buy stuff from a store. But the significant price difference made it less difficult for me to wait out a day or two.
If you provide cheap overnight shipping, you'd probably get a whole lot more customers who are inclined towards "instant gratification" like myself. "

I ordered a pair of glasses and paid a premium to have the shipping expedited. The day after they should have arrived i called customer service wondering what the status was. She informed me that they hadn't even shipped and they should probably ship sometime this week. How can you charge a premium for shipping and not honor it? I read some of the other reviews before purchasing and was nervous about the ship time, but it turns out my experience could not have been more perfect. It only took 2 days for my sunglasses to come. Also, I know they are authentic because I purchased them first at Sunglasshut in the mall (for $270) and compared them when my Shades Emporium ones came. They are exact. I was even thrilled to find they send the original case and shammy. I paid $170 at Shades Emporium, that is a $100 savings. Needless to say, I returned the first ones to Sunglasshut right away. My only challenge now is to never forget Shades Emporium in the future. This investment should last me a while and I love the style of my new Prada sunglasses.

"Believe what you're reading here, these people are definitely shady! They talk a good game on the warranty but when it comes time to use it watch out! SLOW return times if you get them to exchange it at all AND they charge big bucks for shipping, even when it's a defect. They are making money hand over fist on shipping alone. Customer service is a joke! These people can barely speak English properly, good luck understanding anything they say, if you can even get anyone to respond. Even the "costomer service supervisor" can't use proper English and is NO HELP AT ALL! Save yourself time, money and frustration and go somewhere else, I wish I had, it's just not worth it!"
"I just purchased Nike frame 6020, size 54, color 045. This frame has been discontinued for over two years.
I was lucky to find Frames/Shades Emporium because they were the best priced website for my frame. Even if they are not the best price I strongly recommend using Frames/Shades Emporium. They offered the best online shopping experience compared to three other competitor websites based on the following six reasons:
1) Frames/shades emporium actually carries almost all of their models in stock, even for discontinued items. All other competitor sites I dealt with sent used frames or played unethical tricks to sit on your money while they spend months to “contact the manufacturer.”
2) I was extremely grateful to see the over-excessive packaging to protect my frame. My frame was wrapped in bubble/foam wrap then placed in its case. The case was wrapped in bubble wrap, then the bubble wrapped case was placed in the center of the box and stuffed tightly with paper to prevent moving.
Despite all of this good packaging effort, I might be comfortable if in the future I could pay extra for insurance and signature required.
3) My frames definitely are brand new and are not fake.
4) The company is extremely transparent on their website and with the order and customer service process. They do not have a sly/eerie image like some of the competitors.
5) Customer service rushed my order at no extra hassle/cost (of course I had to pay $30 for next day shipping). I placed my order before 2pm Eastern Standard Time on Friday and they shipped my frame on Tuesday. The frame came from Atlanta, Georgia and arrived Wednesday at 9am in Portland, Oregon.
6) There is no stupid 50 digit order number. My order number was only four digits."
"Wow. What a terrible experience! I don't think they stock anything, instead they wait for orders to come in and only then do they order the item. I waited 2 weeks before finally calling to find out where the item was. They kept telling me "it will ship tomorrow", but it never did. Then, after 3 weeks, I asked them to cancel the order and they said they had to charge me a $35 cancellation fee! What?

Therefore, we allow order cancellations within 4 hours, without cancellation or restocking fees. If you choose to cancel your order more than 4 hours after it was placed, or cancel a back ordered item more than 24 hours after being notified of the back order, you will be charged a cancellation fee of $35.
I am not making this up. You only have 4 hours. So that means that if they can't fulfill the order after several weeks, you are screwed. There is nothing you can do. Shady shady shady!!
And yes, they will take your $35. They took mine.

"Watch out for hidden fees.
Shades Emporium / Frames Emporium had a great deal on some eyeglasses frames. Ordered basic lenses with AR coating, scratch protection for $70 total. At checkout was shocked to see "High Cylinder Surcharge Fee" of $40 added on to the order.
I ordered them anyway, since it was still a decent deal. Then the next day I received an email saying there was an additional $90 fee for my order.
I told them it was BS and cancelled my order. They cancelled the order with no major hassles, and never charged my credit card.
The bottom line: seems like they're making up for cheap frames with expensive options. Frames emporium was okay to deal with, and in the future I might buy frames from them and get lenses put in somewhere else. This time I found a better deal on the frames on Amazon!
