"Sonic Cameras is my worst experience on the web so far. I had to contact BBB in New York to get my refund after much arguing with the company manager, Bill. They charged me 399 bucks for an item that cost 50 other places. They have you call them so they can see how shop smart you are, and then they trick you into buying a lousier item for more money.

I was left back with the bill of returning everything with insurance. So, no stuff, just an expense and an experience I would have loved to be without. Crooks in my books. It is hard to believe these guys are still in business after all these reviews and their poor seller ratings. We need to get the word out about resellerratings.com. We need to bust these people red handed. I like the idea of ordering a lot one day and give them a total false CC number. So, when they try to charge, they have to put everything back on the shelves. HMPF.

"I wish that I had been savvy enough to check out these reviews before being screwed over!! I am a rising professional photographer and wanted to buy a Nikon 18-200 mm lens for my Nikon D300. I shopped around - both online and in person and stumbled upon Sonic Cameras. Their listed price was great and, having a huge photo shoot coming up, I went ahead and ordered it. Within minutes after placing my order, a customer service representative called me; he wanted to check with me to see which camera I was using - digital vs. film - and what types of shots I planned to take with the lens. Naively, I thought to myself, how thoughtful of this man to call me and check before shipping my order. This individual told me that I had ordered a lens for a film camera and that my photographs would not come out as well with the lens I ordered. He then went on to say that he is a professional photographer and that there is another lens he recommends. I told him (and I was quite adamant) that I shoot exclusively with Nikon equipment. He assured me that this lens was a Nikon lens. Before terminating the telephone call, I again repeated that I only wanted a genuine Nikon lens and not a knock-off brand. He reassured me that I would be getting a genuine Nikon product.

I waited a few days and low and behold UPS delivered a brown box to my door. I very excitedly opened it and much to my great disappointment, it was NOT the Nikon lens I was assured of, but a Sigma lens!! I was furious beyond description. Since it was the weekend and they are on the East Coast and I am on the West Coast, naturally they were closed. I needed the lens for an important photo shoot the next day and my husband ended up buying me the Nikon lens I thought I had ordered at Best Buy (it was on sale there).

I called Sonic Cameras and tried to resolve the issue with them directly. I spoke with a Customer Service Representative (Bobby), who assured me that it was MY ERROR and that their employees never make mistakes! I was completely taken aback at the amount of customer disservice I received!! Since, with time already lost over the weekend, I didn't want to delay sendind their imposter lens back (they have a wimpy 7-day return policy on photographic equipment), I went ahead and requested a Return Authorization Number from Bobby. What I found really infuriating, was that he requested a check in the amount of $34.70 to cover their expenses; Bobby said that each time they issue a credit card refund, their company gets a service charge. I told him that we wouldn't have been having this conversation in the first place if they had delivered what was promised to me. I told him that it was fraud on their part!

CONCLUSION: I do plan to return the lens to them tonight; however, after I get my money back, I plan to file reports with the New York Attorney General, the California Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission. I would encourage those of you who also had the misfortune of a negative experience with Cosmic Cameras to do the same.

" RIP OFF COMPANY! Advertise a low price and IN Stock. When you have to call and verify the order, they try to pressure sell you accessories, etc. at VERY HIGH prices. When you don't buy the overpriced accessories, you get backordered with no notification. They promise 6 to 10 day delivery- 12 days later you call them and they switch you 3 or 4 times between reps. You demand to speak to a supervisor, he informs you that your item will not be in for 10 days and will ship then. I lost several photo shoots planned with the new camera! CANCELLED MY ORDER! If you're smart, don't do business with these jerks. If you placed an order, cancel it now before you become disappointed!"

"The price they listed at there web site is $275 but they charge me $398. They usually send you an email for confirmation to call them, but when I called them the guy(who is so nasty) who answered the phone put me on hold six times. When finally somebody took my call, he was asking what package I order. When said I just want the unit by itself he hang on me. Then sonic camera send me a bunch of email about my order. I send a reply to cancel my order, but they still sent my order. So Please don't order to this company. The address that they listed at soniccameras.com you can not even find at mapquest."

"Today I attempted to purchase a Nikon D300 body for the web site listed price of $799.00. After completing all of the personal data and credit card info, I placed the order.

Within ten minutes I received an email which reads as follows: "This email is to confirm receipt of your online order with us. For your security, please call us at 1-***-***-****, Option 1 to provide a verbal confirmation so that we can ship out your order. If you have already called and confirmed your order, you may disregard this request."

It took three separate calls to get through to a person who asked me for my three digit security code from my credit card and then told me the Nikon D300 I ordered is the plastic body version and that he could offer me the magnesium body today only for $1299, but I would need to buy a five-hour battery for $199 and the external charger for $199. I said no, cancel my order. Then he said he would include the long life battery and charger for the $1299 price, but I would have to pay a 5% shipping insurance fee. After this pronouncement, I said cancel the order. I listen for to more sales pitch lingo, but I stuck to my guns and canceled the order. I also sent them an email message canceling the order.

Don't go near these people.

"Please do not buy from Sonic Camera. These guys sold me a nikon 50mm f1.4d af lense and then overcharge me $60.99. When I called to tell them what they did they said tough and if I didn't like it they would kick my ass. These guys are complete IDIOTS! I thought talking about someones mother was shit kids did in grade school, however these guys are good at doing that. This guy that called himself Edward told me to take a trip up to the Bronx and he would take care of me. Handing out wolf tickets is all this chump could do. If I would have desided to take him up on his challenge I think that would have been one of Edwards really bad days. Anyway, enough time of mine has been waisted on the Idiots at sonic cameras. Just remember to please tell everyone that you can about these guys and not to buy from them! Please, if you have had a bad experience with sonic cameras take the time to write a review and turn them in to the BBB in NY. Oh, and if anyone out there knows where Larry Johnson is, you know the one who played for the NY Jets...please tell him that the punks from Sonic cameras are telling the customers that he got bitch slapped in the store by one of the salemen named Edward. Go get em' Larry!

"Don't walk, run away from Sonic Cameras. Classic bait and switch thieves. They will lure you in with a cut rate price and then try to fast talk you into something else with pure lies. I can't believe they have not been shut down. "

"I ordered a Nikon 18-200mm lens. I got the e-mail to confirm. When I confirmed, the guy talked me into getting the "professional filters" that are normally 300.00 but was on special for 150. I thought that I was going to buy filters anyway so I bought the package. He told me that it was the same lens I ordered but because it was in a package, they could offer it for less. He would also throw in 3 day shipping. It took 5 days to get to me and when I opened the package they had switched my nikkor lens that I ordered to a Sigma. When I called to complain they said that I was told that the switch was being made and the sigma was a better lens blah blah blah. I insisted that I wanted the Nikkor. He said he was going to charge me a restocking fee and I told them they didn't send me what I ordered and was told it would be the same lens that I ordered. Then he said that the lens I ordered had plastic lens and if I wanted glass lens I would have to pay another 150.00. Total bate & Switch. I have sent the Sigma back to them(at my expense of 20.00). I contacted my credit card and gave them copies of all the documentation (e-mails, web site pages with costs and my e-mail from ups showing that I sent back the lens. After a week and a half, Jacob from Sonic called me and asked if I wanted to cancel my order. I said I did, they lied to me and switched my lens. He said that my credit card would be credited the full amount. I got my credit today and ordered my lens from amazon. I think I was lucky. This only cost me a little more than 20 bucks. I wish it didn't happend and hopefully websites like this will prevent others from going through what I had to."

"BAIT AND SWITCH AT ITS BEST! Watch out for these fast talkers.

I ordered a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 lens at a very good price of $1350. Received a VM the next day wanting to verify the order so I called them back. Everything appeared to be fine until they asked me what camera the lens was for. When I told them a Nikon D200 they said that this particular Nikon lens didn't work with it. It was then that I became very skeptical because I had done a lot of research prior to ordering know that the lens will work. But they said that this version only mounts to a Nikon film camera, and since they are a 'wholesale" company, they have both types. Funny that the website didn't spell this out anywhere. When questions about it they said that it is indicated by code number. Still doesn't help anyone. So, I could either buy the one I need for $1750, or buy the "just released pro version from Sigma at the same $1350. I told them no. Then came the free shipping, free insurance, and free $400 filter kit. Still said no. Then came the "manager $300 discount" So I said yes to the $1050 lens.

When I got off the phone I did some research on the new pro version Sigma lens and found out that there is actually only one version of the lens and it came out 8+ months ago, and the price from a highly trusted store was $799!

So I called back 20 minutes later and tried to cancel the order at 1:40 PM EST, but somehow the order had already been shipped out the door! So now it was a 10% restocking fee. After some more arguing with them I asked them to give me a tracking number - which they couldn't for some reason. So I finally was able to get the order cancelled without any restocking fee.

I would never recommend them to anyone. AVOID THESE BAIT AND SWITCH ARTISTS.

"I was interested in a new camcorder and found the one I wanted for only $2,300 on their site (usually sells at $5,000). The listing didn't say much about the camera just the type and model. I had already done research on the camcorder itself so figured I didn't need specifications and went ahead and ordered it. Then I was surfing around their site and noticed they had the same camcorder for $6,999.... and it said (with battery, lens, mic, etc.) I then realized why the price was so low. The other listing was for the body itself.. with no lens or mic or ANYTHING! The listing didn't specify that... it just said LOW PRICE FOR WHOLESALE. So right there I knew they were scam artists. I emailed them to cancel and ordered the ENTIRE camcorder from Amazon for $5,000. The next morning I got a phone call from "Mike" of Sonic Cameras asking for the 3 digits in the back of my credit card. I told him I wanted to cancel because I wanted the whole camera. He then tried to con me into buying the "upgraded" version of the camera instead... ( I had done research on it, the camera just came out.. it's the newest in the series.)

I told him no thanks, I just purchased it from Amazon. He then persisted to ask me how much I bought it from Amazon for, and I told him I just wanted to cancel the order. He then ROSE HIS VOICE at me saying.. "TELL ME HOW MUCH YOU BOUGHT IT FOR!" I couldn't believe it. He then said, FINE, I'm going to charge you a cancellation fee. This put me through the roof, Most places gives you 30 days... I had just ordered it less than 24 hours ago!! And he was going to charge me a $250 cancellation fee!?!

I told him that was absolutely ridiculous and nowhere on their site did it state they have a cancellation fee.. and it hadn't even been a day since the order was made! He then started YELLING AT ME called me a F-ing B*tch!! I couldn't believe it! I asked to speak to a manager and he said "You're talking to him, lady! I'm going to charge your card now." I was absolutely shocked at the unprofessionalism of this man, he was acting absolutely crazy screaming and swearing at me, while I had not even raised my voice! I hung up and put a block on my credit card. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! They will scam you.. not to mention their "manager" needs to be put in a loony bin!

"I purchased a Nikon D60 camera from these people and paid for 2 day air shipping. They shipped the camera and I finally received it a week later. Also they said included with every order was a tripod, cleaning kit and camera bag valued at $100.00. I am still waiting to receive these items. I have called many many times to ask where they are and every time they keep giving me a run around. I would not recommend anybody to do business with these people as far as I am concerned they are scam artists!!!"

"I ordered a Canon 40D off the Sonic Camera website with a price that was too good to be true...but I bought it anyway. After purchasing, I had buyers remorse big time. I thought to look at the reviews and found this website. I was shocked. Sonic Cameras sounded awful...I knew I just blew $650! So, I called them three days later (they weren't open the day I ordered - that's why they were haveing a big sale-weird I realize that now). I did not have a long wait and then a nice man answered who was quite polite surprisingly. He confirmed my order and told me it was a JAPANESE camera with no English at all! I was pretty upset. He stated that it was in their fine print somewhere that they sold import cameras. I told him I didn't want to upgrade for $300 to get the English camera and instructions, which he informed me was still a good deal. I understood it was a good deal - the camera I purchased was a $1200 camera - too good to be true I know. So, he suggested a Rebel XS kit for $750 and he would knock of $100 for me. I agreed to change my order and he explained everything about this new camera. I received it in the mail about 5-6 days later and it is WONDERFUL, exactly what I was needing!

So, Sonic Cameras may be a "bait and switch" company if you order online because you really don't get what you order - you get a JAPANESE camera! So, if you call to order hopefully you will get the same nice gentleman I got.

So, be careful what you order. I would suggest calling to verify before purchasing!

"BUYER BEWARE!!!! All the negative reviews are TOTALLY ACCURATE!!!!! I "tried" to buy several lenses from Sonic Cameras. I input my credit card info and everything went through just fine. Then a couple of days later, I get an email to "CONFIRM YOUR ORDER". I called the 800 number listed. I am told they no longer accept the credit card I used!!!! Then they tried to sell me a different lense that they had a $100 "INSTANT" rebate on!!! The price was supposed to be $699 but it would be $599 with instant rebate. Then he said he would "throw in" free 2-3 day shipping!!! I told him I had to research this lense. Come to find out, I can get this lense at multiple other legit camera shops for around $270!!!!! WHAT A BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM!!!!! PREVENT ALL THE HEADACHES YOU SEE IN ALL OF THESE NEGATIVE FEEDBACKS AND DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY NOT MATTER HOW ATTRACTIVE THEIR "BAIT PRICE" IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
