"Item short. Excessive P&P charge. Only phone number is a costly 0871-. Poor service.

I ordered 5 sata3 cables, only 4 arrived. P&P charged was £5.45. Royal Mail First-class 'Signed For' is only £2.46 (probably less if they have a RMail contract) so for Specialtech putting the cables in an unpadded plastic bag cost me £2.99!

So, phone Specialtech? Not likely! I refuse to pay up to 11p per minute on an 0871 number, to ask Specialtech to remedy their mistake.

I've sent an email to their 'support' address but got "This is an automated response confirming the receipt of your ticket. One of our agents will get back to you as soon as possible."

So, that's blown any idea of completing my new PC this weekend - not much point of paying for signed-for first class anyway ... ...

UPDATE: Just 6 days later, I had received the missing cable, AND, I received a full refund on the postage - so, reasonably placated! Still, I hate 0871 numbers for service complaints though!"

"I picked up a couple of odds n ends via ebay leading me to check out Specialtech
I am just working through the intial stages of a TJ07 build..my first where I'm looking for it to look neat rather than just functional with all the bits connected up, chucked inside and hidden behind the desk.

anyway, ordered a 480 rad and something unexpected happened. what turned up wasnt quite what I ordered so a quick note to enquire and imagine my surprise when I actually got a reply and resolution straightaway!!

Not had that before!!(currently engaged in an ongoing battle to get a DOA hard drive replaced by another retailer, should be straight forward but its been returned as working once already, still fails to detect etc etc numpties)
experiences elsewhere when things go off plan have been painful as a minimum so pleasantly surprised and will be bringing my business here as a result.
Good prices, prompt helful service and people that sort things for you when things go wrong (which they inevitably do with computers ;-)
Deal with people who understand what you are doing rather than boxshifters that havent a clue what a mosfet cooler is.
