"I had a Win2K server crash one of its RAID-5 drives. I needed a replacement and ordered a Quantum Atlas 10K III 36.7GB SCA-SCSI HD. The drive was shipped on time and I was sent the usuall confirmation/tracking info. My complaint is that it was NOT the capacity I needed. The drive was a 60Gb+ drive! Ordinarily, I would say "Thanks" and move on, but I needed this in a RAID setup and the oddball capacity is causing trouble with RAID configuration. Other than that, It was new and works fine. I didn't know it was the wrong capacity until I cabled it up and turned it on.

Bottom line - I didn't get what I asked for. They sent me something "Better?" and I can't really use it.

"This is a great place as long as what you buy works. A video card and a modem I purchased were dead on arrival. Windows would not even detect that they were there (tried 3 different computers).I E-Mailed them and they E-Mailed back and said to download and send back their RMA request form from their website. This is when the customer support trouble started.
1. I tried printing the form several times and the only way it would print properly was "landscape" view and it took 3 pages.
2. The form has to be "faxed". You can't even send it by E-Mail. I don't own a stand alone fax machine. I guess I could pay Kinko.
3. You have to sign the form giving them authority to add additional charges to your credit card if they feel that there is nothing wrong with their merchandise. Dangerous!!!
4. They need 7 days to check their defective merchandise. If you live in the East thats 3 weeks for a replacement.

I have bought from Surplus Computer before and was satisfied with my purchases, but everything worked. Now that I know how their "Customer Service" works I will never give money to them again. I lost my money, you might think about that also

"What a great experance. They are very fast at shipping. You get what you order. They are by the phone to help. I'm a Very Happy Customer! This was in 2002. Now their shipping costs have goon through the roof. Even with that they still have products at good prices and with shipping still have some of the best prices on the web."

"I just received my barebone system (Duron 1gig on Fic az-11 mobo and a wave case.) and it worked great. Just two small problems that's no big deal. An HHD led was plugged backward and the "refurbished" floppy drive didn't work. I got the manual, cd, and the cables with it. I didn't know if I was going to get them so I downloaded the stuff from Fic ftp. Fic has great support. I am very pleased with my purchases from this site."

"I deal with this outfit through their used equipment division "SurplusComputers.com". I ordered a used monitor which they stated was refurbished and checked by factory trained technicians. It wasn't a great deal, it was merely a fair deal for a working used monitor.

It wasn't even clean when it arrived, the "refurbishing" process seemed to consist of a new plastic bag and box. The minute I turned it on it was obvious that nobody had ever checked it before shipping - the image was clearly defective and the screen had burn-in marks.

I contacted their tech support who agreed it was garbage and there was nothing to do but return it, which I promptly did, at considerable expense (it was a big heavy monitor), exactly in accordance with their instructions.

That was almost two months ago, and despite two contacts with them, the first of which they completely ignored and the second of which they responded to only because I threatened them with a VISA dispute, I have not gotten back one penny nor any status update on the RMA.

I am now in a VISA dispute with them, which I am confident I will eventually win, but I'm out the money for awhile.

I learned my lesson about buying used equipment online and I learned my lesson about dealing with this reseller.
