"Be Careful - not the Real Deal!
Ordered a CanonPowershot SD880 - received an email that I needed to call to "confirm" my order. When I called I was informed that this model was a "Grey Market" item and that all the instructions would be in Japanese. Also there would be NO warranty."
"I ordered two Garmin Nuvi 880 GPS' from TechonDIGITAL as they had the best price $399 each when everyone else was selling it for $550 and up. I should have known that it was too good to be true.
After receiving the confirmation email, I quickly received an email asking me to contact "William" at extension 205 to confirm my order. William proceeded to verify some information and then tell me that I will need to order a Class 6 SD card for the unit. I told him that I have plenty of the SD cards around for my photography work. He insited that I needed a "special" unit. I told him, "No thank you." He then said that, although the normal price for this card was $200, he'd sell me one "below his cost" for $149. I asked him why in the world they would lose money to do that. His answer? "Because we would want you to have it." I told him no, I'll do OK without it and he said that I wouldn't be able to get any maps or upgrades without it. He said it was necessary. He was pushing hard.
After I held to my desire for only the units, he abruptly said "Enjoy your GPS." and hung up the phone. The next day I received an email saying that they were out of stock on the units and are, therefore, cancelling the order.
SCAM!!! I purchased the units from another source. The card is a convenience, not needed, and they don't even have to be Class 6 cards.
Stay away from these folks!"
"They would not sell only the camera (canon powershot sx10 is). i.e. They stated there would be a 6 to 8 week wait to ship out a camera only with no accessories"
"I ordered a Garmin GPS from this company via their website. The site stated that the unit was in stock. I almost immediately received a telephone call from them stating that I had "forgotten to include an SD card with my order". I told the salesman that I had cards and he began to question me as to what kind they were and attempted to pressure me into buying more.
Upon looking at their site, they wanted me to buy a 2Gb SD card for $99.99! Newegg has the for $7.49!
Shortly after I stated that I only wanted the GPS, I received an email advising me that the order had been canceled as they were out of stock and didn't expect it to be in stock for 6-8 weeks.
Strangely enough, their website says that they are available to ship now.
SCAM ARTISTS - STAY AWAY from this one!!!"
"Never buy anything from this website !! Does business as several shady companies. Purchased a Sony T700 camera and was lied to about the internal memory so I purchased extra - 2 gigs high speed error free card guaranteed to make the videos taken come out perfect. Did not receive that card; received 2 1 gig generic cards. Also the camera has 4 gigs internal memory , so I was lied to about that also.
Called to arrange a refund and was told I would have to send the whole order back. the manager's name " Stan Lee" told me to bad for me!
I have turned them into the Better Business Bureau - there are many claims against this group for dishonest practices and rudeness etc.
I hope everyone else sends them to the BBB! "
"WARNING !
Clever ripoff. Teaser prices are followed with high-pressure sales tactics which include a temper tantrum where customer is called rude.
This is classic bait and switch. The prices are too good to be true because if you don't fall for their inflated cross-selling proposal, your order is cancelled.
They have negative reviews on CNET and BBB. Wish I had seen those first."
"I placed two orders of Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Cameras on this website yesterday and today. The orders transacted but immediately thereafter were canceled by them, which is fine with me but when i called the customer service wanting to verify if in fact that is the truth and to see if my credit card was reversed due to the cancellation. Instead getting an educated operator, the dick-head owner who rudely told 'your orders are canceled and do not place any more orders!!' He further said, 'you don't speak english...it is canceled!' Yet, he never told me whether my credit card was charged to the transaction and/or it has been reversed and credited back to the card. As a customer i'm extremely concern with my credit and money. I could not believed his level of professionalism is lesser than a little 6-year-old kid. "
"Like many other people who also wrote bad reviews, my experience was the same. I saw their low-ball prices on a camera I wanted, odered it and was sent an email about an hour later asking me to call them to confirm the order! When I called they asked if I wanted to buy a better battery, because the one included only lasts 20 min.! I told them that I found this hard to believe and said no! The agent got upset. Then he asked if I wanted to buy a bigger memory card cause the one included takes only 8 photos! I now new what this email was about, so I said no again! He finally said I should get an extended warranty because this is a "gray-market" camera and comes with a Japanese warranty instead of a US one!! I told them that their website said no such thing! At this point it became evident that they didn't even want me to buy the camera, so I just cancelled and the agent replied "good idea!" Unbelieveable!!
What a scam!! "
"This company appears to low-ball their prices while indicating the merchandise is in stock when, in fact, it is not. I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS unit at a price of $209.00 + $14.90 delivery on Jan. 4, 2009. I was told that it was in stock and "should ship within 24-48 hours. When I checked my credit card several days later it had not been charged, so I call TechOnDigital and was told that it would be over 3 weeks before they would receive a shipment. Oh, and when I placed the order, they tried to sell me an SD card and a warranty. I suspect my refusal was connected to the extension of delivery from 24-48 hours to greater than 3 weeks. I cancelled the order."
"this is not even a REAL company. total fraud cover up for something even shadier i suspect. i tried to purchase a canon g9 yesterday, and like all the reviewers before me, i had to call and confirm the order. they then proceeded to sell me a battery for 149.99. being so foolish i accepted. then realizing what i did, i called back to cancel the battery and they simply wanted to cancel the whole order which i gladly accepted. (side note: got the run around placed on hold...i swear, i was made to talk to 3 different guys with Sopranos accents, foolishly knowing i was probably talking to just one guy pretending to be 3 guys. i'm persistent, i called 3 times, waited for a LONG time, gave them a piece of my mine and they hung up on me 3 times.) i then proceeded to cancel my credit card afterwards. total cover up for some new york cartel i suspect. BAD NEWS. DO NOT GET SCAMMED of your hard earned $."
"After doing an internet search, I placed an order for 2 Garmin Nuvi 255 GPS units with Techondigital. Instead of the usual confirmation response, I received this email: Please call william from our order confirmation department at ext: 205 to confirm your order at ***-***-****. When I called, "William" tried to scam me into buying hundreds of dollars for unnecessary upgrades. Then tried to sweeten the deal by cutting prices and throwing in some useless freebies. I told him all I wanted was the two GPS units I ordered. A few days later, I received an email saying my order was canceled because the product was on back order. But is it still offered on their website? You betcha. Stay away from these lowlifes!"
"Horrible company. Why? I ordered a DMC-TZ5S for a seemingly great price of $169. I never got an confirmation email, so a few days later I called and talked to "Steve." He tried to upsell me everything: $60 battery, then a $150 battery for a special 1/2 price, etc. I said "No thanks, I just want the camera." Then he warned me it was grey market and the menus were in Japanese. I said "Fine, just ship me the camera."
I never got a shipping confirmation nor the camera. I called again and they said the camera wasn't in stock. I said it was in stock the day I ordered it and the day I called to ask about it. They said the order was cancelled. I asked him who cancelled it and he said they did. On top of that, they raised the price, so now if I re-order, it would be $195. That's BS!!
So just to see how badly they were lying, I waited a few days and placed an order, with extra batteries and crap I don't want. Guess what? They called the next MORNING to confirm the order!! I told them the history and said I would never do business with a bunch of slimy crooks.
I don't know how they every got so much positive feedback. Maybe they have some intern working for pizza typing up fake feedback around the clock.
Let me be clear: I will never buy from this company, and when someone asks me for a good place to buy cameras online, I will make sure I tell them to NOT BUY FROM TECHONDIGITAL EVER!!!
"
"I ordered a Garmin Nuvi and received an on-line confirmation. Shortly after, I received an E Mail stating I must call to confirm the order. I was then told I needed to order a memory card which I knew was not needed. I would not order the memory card and I was told the unit would be shipped. Very quickly another E mail was sent asking me to call William. The day after the E mail was sent I called for William and was told the unit was out of stock for 6 to 8 weeks and my order had been cancelled and I would be notified if and when when it was back in stock. I asked why their web site continued to show availability. I was told this was being changed. The web continues to show the unit in stock. "
"Just found this page. I ordered a nuvi 880, a guy named William called to confirm the order and offered to sell me a memory card. Told him I had already bought one at circuit city and then he confirmed my order. A couple of days later I get an e-mail saying they were out of stock. Why is this company still in business? I'll never buy from them and neither will anybody I ever talk to. You can be sure I'll spread the word."
"Same story. Had to confirm the order over the phone. Some CamelF'er answers sounding like he's been smoking doobies all day. Tells me I need another battery for my camera I just ordered. I tell him that's a bunch of crap and I don't want to have to confirm my online orders over the phone. He just mumbles and says alright and hangs up. Next day I get the standard email written in crappy broken english "We thank you for your order and appreciate you shopping with us .
Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We regret to inform you that the order is canceled due to the product being on backorder. when or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again . sorry again and thanks for your understanding ."
Don't go near these guys ... they need to be thrown out of the gene pool !
