"I paid for unlocking my iPhone SE that is currently a Pre-paid or GO Phone with AT&T. I double checked with theunlockingcompany.com customer service before paying by sending them my IMEI # and was emailed back confirming it can be unlocked. Unfortunately, the estimated time of 1-10 days was not specified until you had already sent payment. A difference of 1.5 weeks to 2 weeks makes a big difference when planning a trip. Payment was sent Jan 11, 2018.
A week after sending payment, I was emailed asking for ID for proof of my name, that I'm the real person buying the unlocking service because (they said) the company has been experiencing fraud when unlocking iPhones. Received an email letting me know my ID was accepted and that they would "Express" my unlock, but again stating the same 1-10 day delivery. Not entirely sure why I was not asked for ID earlier. This happened on Jan 17, 2018.
It is now Jan 31, 2018 and I still have not received my unlock. It is now 14 business days after sending payment (or 20 full days). I have already left for my trip (and returned!!) and very unhappy I could not use while I was out of my country.

UPDATE (Feb 1, 2018): They were true to their word and they did send me a partial refund, which is nice. I do give them credit that they were pretty quick with replying to emails and they were nice (did not give nasty replies, was not aggressive or anything at all) and they did write me a nice paragraph explaining the situation/delay. I'm not going to tell them how to run their business because they seem to be doing well but it'd be nice if they could not only send the ID request email the next day, but set-up an email to send out every few days (to BCC) to all their customers waiting for an iPhone unlock, letting them know that there's a delay but it's being worked on, instead of letting their customers anxiously wait and build up their anger. It would be great if the customer did not have to be the one to take the first step in contacting the company to inquire about delays, which leaves them feel like they could be scammed or ripped off. Also - and this is a small thing, but maybe put a little focus on putting capitalization where it's needed when replying to emails, as this gives off a feel of professionalism and legitimacy. I understand they could be powering through emails as I'm sure they receive many per day, but giving off a "not caring" feel, could take away from giving off the sense that this is a real business, and a business they seem to care about. I will update again as things progress, hopefully I will have better news to share soon.

UPDATE (Mar 23, 2018): Ever since my last update in Feb, this company has been giving constant excuses as to why my iPhone SE is still unlocked. They kept saying that there are delays over and over again, even blaming their supplier accepting blacklisted IMEI numbers (from stolen phones) as one of the reasons for causing delays. They had confirmed with me that my IMEI number is clean and not blacklisted (I purchased directly from BestBuy and made sure they scanned my phone properly), so there really shouldn't be any problems.
All while saying there's delays with AT&T, there were other people that sent in ratings/reviews after I had already paid, stating that their iPhones were getting unlocked with AT&T network within 24 hrs (Feb 2 review on TrustPilot) and within 12 days (Jan 19 review on TrustPilot), which meant that there most probably isn't any actual delays. I am very disappointed as I have waited a long time (2.5 months) and kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. I don't see how new customers have priority and could get their iPhones unlocked with AT&T network, while there are customers (like me) that paid on Jan 11 are left waiting.
I have finally come to a conclusion that I will not be getting my iPhone unlocked by them and should take my business elsewhere. I have requested for a full refund on Mar 20, 2018. They still have not sent me my refund or acknowledged my email, even though they've been very good with sending replies previously. I tried to be patient with them, but it seems like they just took advantage. Please take this review into consideration when deciding/choosing which unlocking companies to go with.

“We understand your frustration in not being able to unlock the phone but there is no need to make false claims.
The order was placed on April 23rd, at which time we submitted in the AT&T iPhone unlocking service
We were contacted on the 15th business day (May 11th, 5 days over the time frame stated on the site, 1-10 business days) and was also the only contact we received from you at which time we updated you on the situation, that there was a update in the AT&T iPhone service and that it was due to a change in the AT&T unlocking policies. We gave you the option to either
1: Refund the purchase
OR
2: Proceed with the unlock and we would provide a partial refund (25%) due to the phone unlock being overdue
You chose the second option, and we proceeded with the unlock, less than 24 hours later we received notice from the supplier that they were unable to generate the unlock due to the service being unstable and we refunded you promptly after getting the information
The case was filed yes, but AFTER we already emailed you this information and you agreed to wait, why you opened the paypal case after being responded to in UNDER 12 hours (NOT 2 days) and we talked on the phone ( not sure how many times you called but we did speak over the phone and i explained the issue to you in further detail after the email explaining the situation) is unknown.
We sent you the not found email as soon as we found out we could not generate the unlock (24 hours after speaking to you on the phone and through email) and said you can EITHER wait 4-6 weeks and check back with us OR we can put you on the email list and notify you once the unlock becomes available but never heard anything back from you.
We are still happy to put you on the email list and we even agreed over email to provide another unlock at a discount due to the inconvenience but find it very unprofessional that you would falsify claims on a company that was doing everything it could to help you unlock your phone, sometimes a unlock cannot be found and if that is the case we refund you and notify you promptly as well as provide further benefits to you in the future due to the inconvenience ”
"Highly recommend this service. I had the code withing 15 minutes and worked the first time around!"
A rep from The Unlocking Company, TheUnlockingCompany.com, has responded:
“"We totally understand your frustration, there has been a global delay with AT&T iPhone's which we hoped would have been resolved by now (which based on multiple reports will be resolved in under 48 hours), we understand this is not ideal for your situation. Due to the long wait we have refunded partial amount up to our cost as you have been very patient with us during this internal audit by AT&T. Hopefully the reduced cost will help, and we do again sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you"”
