"SCAM! I believe this company has a storefront under another name. They accepted all of the items that I thought were questionable when I sent them in, and did not accept the Levis and Gap jeans, Oshkosh, gap, and Adidas coats..etc. I beleive they have a store that they sell these in. "I wish I would have found this site before...I sent in a bag half full of bug brand clothing some even had tags on them no tears no nothing made sure to look them over before I put them in the bag..I got paid nothing back they did however give me 10 dollars just for them taking a long time to look at my bag...Then when I went to cashout they said paypal takes I think 2% of whatever I've never had paypal do this before so that confuses me..I will never send anything back to these people and I won't be buying from them."
"The better the stuff you send, the less you get. I've sent clothing to the, before so I knew their guidelines. I didn't learn my lesson before and sent in some of my best clothes. Designer clothes, I thoroughly inspected the clothing for stains and tears. I also sent in brand new Diesel shoes for kids that cost me $60 that my daguther grew out of before she got to wear them.
Well. They only accepted 2 items of the 20 I sent in. 2 of my cheapest items. They gave me around a couple of dollars. I am so upset, I tried writing them to account for my items and the brand new expensive shoes I sent and they sent me a boiler plate response on how some of the clothing had stains, tears, and we're under garments. Undergarments? I never even sent them Undergarments so what the hell??? I specifically asked them about the Diesel shoes, and no response received. I am definitely filing a complaint with the BBB
FYI: the clothes they sell are not great at all, I bought clothes once and did not want to put my daughter in their used looking clothes.
I really think they are a scam and keep the nicest items for themselves. "
"TOTAL SCAM!!!!!!! You are supposed to just TRUST this place to look over your items and re-sell them for you...I sent a HUGE..and I mean...HUGE bag STUFFED FULL of top brands like Gymboree, Gap, and Childrens Place...Old Navy..Carters, Osh Kosh, etc...these were all clothes I bought brand new from stores. I took their policy very seriously and sent nothing in with so much as a fuzz ball on it. There were shoes with tags still on them, jackets and coats with tags still on them, etc. THESE NEW WITH TAGS ITEMS WERE NOT ACCEPTED.....NONE OF MY GYMBOREE ACCEPTED....This place clearly takes the better items for themselves or re-sells them locally...none of my really good items were even seen...they tried to reassure me that they carefully look over items...when I said there was no way that there was ANYTHING wrong with any of those shoes or anything I sent in for that matter, they said by me signing the piece of paper you have to send in with your clothes, you are turning everything over to them. Trust me, this is a scam. I got about $20 for that bag of clothes. Such a scam. Whats ironic is if you are the BUYER, you can still get some good deals on things...but if you are selling to them, you WILL get screwed over."

Most of the clothes will not be accepted, some will be accepted and you will not receive the credit for it and, to as the last straw, you will not receive a fair price for the clothes you send. "I could kick myself for not looking up these reviews before trying Thredup. They are a total rip off. I sent in allot of very nice items, and they gave me very little cash, and the reasons they gave me for not taking 95% of my items was bullcrap. It sickens me to think of all the items they didn't take, and I will never get back. It is very unwise to use Thredup. I wouldn't even buy their stuff. The shipping is more then the items."

"Horrible. I sent a bursting full bag to them. I think I sent around 30 items plus 2 pairs of shoes. All Gymboree. About half worn once, the rest new with tags. They gave me $10. I just am so disgusted. I could have gotten $100 at my local consignment store. Waht a waste. I will never use them again."
"Well. I sent in my first bag out of 50 items they paid $30 wasnt too bad but was puzzled as to why they didnt accept the other stuff I sent and email and they sent me one back stating what they accepted etc. I know I sent great stuff!!!
Well I then sent them a second bag full to the top not learning from my first time. These items were even better than the first bag!!! worth over $200 in like new or new items.. I got $10 back ..unreall!!! I opened a complaint with the BBB of CA.
If you had a problem with this rip of company open a complain with the BBB the more complaints they get the more the BBB will investigate. This company is a total rip OFF!!!! I wonder how much they sell the other stuff that they keep for !!!"
"I sent in 3 different bags. The first bag I got approx 25.00 next bag 40.00 So when I sent the 3rd bag in I was sure I would get at least 60.00 because this was my best bag. Some of the clothes weren't even worn and most of the others only worn a couple of times. The bag was stuffed. I was shocked when I got 10.00 for all of my clothes. I loved the concept and ease of this but They lost me as a customer. I would rather give them to the goodwill. The money will go to people in need and I can get a tax break."
"The clothes are reasonably priced to purchase - its the same cost as a consignment shop or the good will and the clothes are about the same quality.
But DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE send them your clothes to sell! Go the consignment shop! Sell them on Craigslist! Have a yard sale! DO ANYTHING but send your clothes to them.
They have an easy to understand policy of items they will accept; however, they will determine that 99% of what you send them does not meet their criteria and THEY DO NOT RETURN the clothes they don't accept.
Out of 100+ high quality clothes that were sent to them, they selected 16 items and paid $12.90 about a 60% profit for them because they do at least pay for shipping.
They say they won't send you back your clothes and they are very vague about what they do with them. Shaddy, not vague. If you could see the high quality clothes I know I sent them, you'd be a little curious about what they might be doing with the other clothes they decided weren't worthy.
I learned the hard way. Don't waste your time. But if you can't help yourself, just start out slow. Don't send them everything at once. You WILL regret it and kick yourself for all the money you lost!"
"I LOVE ThredUP. I can't believe that people are complaining so much! I buy all of my son's clothes from them, and they are great. They are practically brand new... In this last order they sent me a shirt that I purchased and it had a tiny stain on it (I probably wouldn't have noticed it if they hadn't pointed it out)... Not only did they give me the shirt, but they refunded me my money for that shirt. I was so impressed.
Shipping is a bit expensive if you are only buying 1-2 items. But if you sign up for their service, you get free shipping over $30. I just wait until I need $30 worth of clothing until I make an order. Problem solved. However, I've never waited longer than 3 business days from time of ordering to the time the items are on my doorstep - which is pretty good service in my opinion.
They don't give you top dollar for their clothing that you "sell" to them...but if I didn't "sell it to them" I'd be giving it away for free as hand-me-downs to friends or to Goodwill. So if I can make $9-$20 on a bag full of clothes that I otherwise would have just been getting rid of -- it makes sense to me! :)
I am completely shocked that this place has so many low reviews for ThredUP as so many of my friends and I love it for our kiddos. I 100% recommend it with 5 stars. And I can't imagine NOT buying there! ThredUP is amazing!"

well I got $14.25 for the bag and they say that several of my items were not acceptable one being a brand new costume !!!! That they gave me nothing for !!! I WILL NEVER EVER USE THEM AGAIN !"
"Second verse, same as the first. I sent in a bag of mostly new or worn once or twice Gap items. I tossed in a few Carter's and TCP items to fill the bag. Well, almost all of the Gap items vanished, and I got a few cents each for the cheap stuff. When I e-mailed to complain, I got a form letter where they sent me to the "what we accept" section of the website. I e-mailed again for clarification, since I was pretty sure all the items that vanished met all of the criteria listed, and they were never heard from again. I also find it irritating that the mouthpiece for the Facebook page seems to be snarky when people post negative reviews. People have legitimate concerns and criticism and any response other than, "I'm sorry, how can I help?" is the wrong answer."
