"I love thrift books because for the price and the waterproof packaging save my books from the aftermath of hurricane Irma!!!!! Thank you!!!!"
"I have ordered from this company many times and been satisfied each time. I've only had one issue, which was quickly responded to by their customer service. They seem friendly enough, and while my problem was a confusing one, they had no trouble sorting it out and correcting it. Within a week, everything was worked out and I had all my books. They seem to really care about their customer service, at least from what I have seen.
They also have a ton of great deals, which is great for anyone who plans on ordering books there.
-- referring a friend gets you 15% off
-- every $50 spent gets you $5 off
-- some books are about $3 if they're in the deal section; most books on the site are $3.79 each
-- orders over $10 are free. Free! FREE SHIPPING!!?! YES PLZ
Let it be noted, however, that these are USED books and many appear to be used. But for the price, I find them well worth it. I've never received a book in a condition too poor to be read, or a poor condition at all. The worst I've gotten is a missing dust jacket, which I find quite easy to live with. For paperbacks, some have lines on the spine from being read many times in the past, but again, I take no issue to that. If you are strict about a book's outward appearance, however, I would suggest buying new books. Thriftbooks offers some new copies, but not as many as they do used, so you might have to turn to Amazon or pay a larger price. Depends on how much quality you want, I suppose, but again, I've never received a book in poor condition from this seller.
Also, they have a great collection of classics and collectable books! As a collector myself, I was very pleased to find this. Again, no complaints there. If you need to search for collectables or classics, Thriftbooks is definitely the way to go, imho. For classics, they often offer many different publication versions, which I particularly like.
All in all, I could not be more satisfied with their services and plan on ordering from them in the future."
"I've been buying from Thrift Books for a couple of years now. Probably a dozen orders overall, usually with 3-9 books per order. I love this company. The books always come quickly, ship for free over $10 and, with their Reading Rewards program I earn a $5 credit for every $50 dollars spent on the site. I've never had any letdowns and their prices are unbeatable. Highly recommended. "
"Twice I have ordered the same book from 2 different Thriftbook stores. Both times they took my money and sent me the wrong book. When I questioned them I received the exact same word for word stock answer: I’m sorry to hear you received the wrong item in your order. Unfortunately we do not have an additional copy to send you at this time. "
"No hassles all was fast and easy"
"I have been buying books from Thriftbooks for years. Instead of paying $8 to $10+ for books, I'm paying an average of $3.50 - $3.80 per book. On average I order 4 to 5 books at a time. It's free shipping for $15+. Yes, the books are used, yes, sometimes you may get a decrepit book. It's well worth spending $17 or $18 for 5 books then $40 - $50 for 5 books. It does sometimes take up to 2 weeks to get the books, but well worth it. If you're an avid reader (like me) then it is well worth it to give them a chance.

"I have revised my review from 2 stars to 4 based upon Thrift Books extremely responsive customer service.
I purchased 4 hardback books from Thrift Books advertised as ranging in condition from "Very Good" to "Good." However, the books as received appeared to be one category lower than advertised; e.g. "Good" to "Acceptable." Covers were dirty, scuffed, marred, in one case the edge of the back cover was gouged in several places, and in another the front cover was creased. Had I come across these books in a used bookstore, I would not have purchased any of them.
I contacted Customer Service with little expectation of satisfaction and was totally surprised to receive a response advising me that Thrift Books would replace all of the books ordered via expedited shipping and that I could dispose of the lower quality books however I chose.
Since then Thrift Books has replaced all 4 books with books conforming to the descriptions as ordered and I am satisfied with both Thrift Books' products and customer service."
"i'm an electrical engineer, my books are all between 500 pages and 1200 pages each, i was very satisfied almost all the time, with "good", "very good" and "like new" condition everything was fine (no complaints, except some very little few exceptions 3 or 4 times) price of my engineering books in majority not exceeding 5 or 6 USD, with such price and books looking in good shape (some are like new) i have nothing to blame. customer service is friendly and ready to give help.
nota: you are lucky to receive books in USA for free, i live in morocco and i have to pay 4.99 USD shipping for each book :)"
"I've used Thrift Books MANY times and they've always been wonderful. I've received all my items and they ship really quickly. Also, one time I ordered three books and they upgraded me to a better condition book because it was cheaper for them to ship - all for free! Some people are mentioning that the book conditions aren't great - they're used books, of course they're gonna be a little worn; considering the price, the wear is not a problem at all. I live in a town with a lot of used bookstores and I continue to use Thrift Books because their books are in good condition and they're way cheaper than the local stores are. I am wary about buying things online, but I genuinely love this store."
"I used to buy a lot of books from ThriftBooks. But I got tired of receiving books that had price tickets showing a lower price that I paid for. Last one I paid 16 dollars and when I got it it had a 5.00 price sticker on. Customer service told me how to remove the sticker but did not gave me a credit or a discount. Not a good experience buy your books somewhere else."
"I have bought a total of 21 books so far and I am so impressed! Most of the books I buy are in acceptable condition and very read through but never in unreadable condition and definitely worth it. If your a book collector that likes to show off nice books go buy them new, this is for the pleasure of reading nice books at a great price!!!"
"Bought ten books. One still had a 0.50 garage sale sticker on it (doesn't really make you feel like you are gettin a great deal on a book in "acceptable" condition) and had quite a bit of wear and tear on it, but my real beef was with another board book I purchased. There were nearly SIXTY (no exaggeration) children's stickers ALL over the pages. Some came off easily; others ripped pages or left residue behind when my husband and I tried to peel all of them off. There were even some on the back cover so I don't know why someone didn't catch this. If you are going to buy from thrift books, keep in mind that at least ten percent of your purchase likely won't be worth it. You don't *actually* get books for 3.75 per book once you factor in damage."
"I loved the customer service and I use them regularly, instead of going to chapters or another book store and paying like $10 for a book (or more!) I only had to spend $4 for the same book, keep in mind though they're still used but hey I'm perfectly fine with that!"
"I purchase hundreds of books a year. They listed a book as "Very Good" but the binding was falling apart. Unfortunately I did not discover this until after their 90 day policy - but that's besides the point. People purchase books based upon book descriptions and they purchase more expensive books rated "Good" or higher over poor ones for pennies rated Acceptable. I don't trust their rating system or how they describe their books anymore and neither should you. Take your chances with someone who actually takes the time to look at the book and not trying to mislead you into buying it over other sellers. "
"So I ordered a book over a week ago. I picked expedited shipping because I just got out of school and have nothing else to do. A few days after that, I decided might as well order another package so I can read more books after I finished the one that I first ordered. The package I ordered second came about a week BEFORE the one with expidited shipping (the one i paid like $3 extra for)!!!! I mean, im glad I ended up with any books at all but come on. Moral of the story: do not waste money on quick shipping! Its a scam because it doesnt actually work and might make your package take even longer!!! T
The books are in pretty good condition though, besides one that looked like it had blood stains on it ..."
