"I have been less than trilled with Tool Barn on this. I ordered a cordless circular saw kit and a bare recip saw. I got a shipping notifcation for the order but the only thing that showed up was the recip saw. I called and was told it must have been an inventory mix up and the circular saw kit was expected back in stock the following Monday (this was Friday). I was told that they would get it out to me quickly since there was no communication about it being back ordered. I then went to use the recipe saw and it started smoking immediately. By now The Tool Barn was closed, so I e-mailed them. I got a replay and a return label that following Monday, but no more communication. I sent the recipe saw back that day. By Wednesday, I had not received any shipping notifications, so I called back in and talked w/ BJ, who was very polite and seemed like he wanted to help, but it took another week for me to receive both saws. 3 weeks from ordering to having product that worked. I get the bad saw was out of their control, but at no point was there any attempt to really make melee like they valued me as a customer. They did the bare minimum of returning and shipping at a pace that is sub-standard in this day and age.
In the past I have ordered product from a company in Utah (not tools). One time they sent me the wrong product (crushed glass for concrete countertops). I was under a time crunch and when I called them, they said they would send out the correct product overnight and that I could keep the wrong product. I expected that I would send them back the wrong order. They were very sorry for the mixup and that year they sent me a card around Christmas, thanking me for my business that year. I spent less with them that year than this one order from the Tool Barn.
I ordered from the Tool Barn based on price. This experience has just confirmed what I already knew- if you shop on price alone, you don't get anything else, just a low price. I will buy from a local small business before I buy from the Tool Barn again. Even if it cost me a bit more up front. "
