"We've had a great experience and would recommend U-Gro to anyone interested in childcare."
"Everything has been great except the persistent staffing shortages, which is a huge dissappointment and challenge for my wife and I. My wife and I are hopeful that this will get resolved, and that the school will hire a surplus of teachers so we don't have to go back to keeping our kids home one day per week."
"We love the teachers and staff at UGro but the staffing issue and high turnover is a big concern."
"Management with LCC is horrendous and has led to staff leaving and classroom closures. The teachers are all phenomenal, respectful, and caring. However, it seems they do not get paid enough and get the respect from management they deserve, thus the mass exodus and lack of retention of staff members."
"Since COVID, the number of times the school has asked for volunteers to not go for the day or closed classrooms has increased drastically. While this has not really affected us as our daughter only goes before and after school, it has led to worry that UGRO is not or in the future will not be able to meet our child care needs. UGRO has also adjusted the maximum age for children down to 8 years old. I do not believe an 8 year old is able to get themselves on and off the school bus by themselves if parents are both working outside the home. This has led us to have to find alternate arrangement and leave UGRO in the next year. They will be unable to met our needs as our child gets older. The summer program for school age children was also unsatisfactory. It seemed like for the most part it was unorganized choas whenever I went there to pick up or peeked at the live stream camera. The children were very loud and the teacher was just sitting at a table letting them run around."
"I'm pretty frustrated with how frequently we are asked to volunteer to keep our kids home. The environment for employees must be pretty awful for the turnaround to be so high. For as much as I pay for childcare, I don't want to worry about availability. Also, staff changes should be communicated with much more frequency. My infants teachers BOTH left and I didn't know until they weren't there anymore and asked the PT AM teacher where they were. Their departure STILL has not been communicated to me."
"The teachers who have remained are wonderful, and we appreciate Ms. LuAnn. But we’ve lost all confidence that the teachers are being treated fairly and with respect, and we don’t fault them for leaving. They are doing the best they can, but our children have not received good, consistent care. We’d like to move our children once we find an opening elsewhere."
"U-GRO used to be the premiere childcare center in Hershey. Since the acquisition by the Learning Care Group, the quality of the center has significantly worsened. I don't know any of the teachers any more. The teachers hired do not seem to have the credentials necessary to provide education and childcare. Some of the teachers don't even speak English - at pickup one day, a teacher told me she couldn't tell me anything about my child's day because she didn't speak English. The quality of care has decreased. 5 days in a row, I picked up my child with a soiled diaper, and it looked like it hadn't been changed in many hours. We will be leaving U-GRO and moving to another childcare center."
"Excellent. Blown away by the dedication and passion of the staff. Great facility."
"Emerson’s teachers are so wonderful."
"Generally good. We've loved all but one classroom and that was due to lack of attention to detail and poor curriculum, though it seems that teacher is no longer there."
"The teachers are fantastic and make a huge impact in my child’s life. The leadership team of the school is terrible at communicating with parents. The teachers are undervalued."
"We have had a great experience since transferring to this location. Miss Keely has done a wonderful job working with our daughter! She has grown so much since being in Miss Keely’s room. Miss Keely has helped our daughter with using scissors, holding a pencil the correct way, writing, and many other items! So so thankful for Miss Keely and all she does everyday!"
"Good, but education should be more advanced for students. Teachers should be paid better to prevent turnover. Those that have stayed through all the challenges deserve A LOT!"
"Generally positive, great staff. Staff are over-worked, and often stretched thin resulting in multiple requests a week to keep children home if able; and bare-bones, minimal staff who do not have time to properly keep Sprout about up-to-date."
"We pay a lot of money to attend there - and the cost just keeps going up. However the curriculum and experience seems to continue to decline. There is no director. The leadership updates are spotty. The teachers continue to turnover and our daughter is bumped from room to room with multiple different teachers or float teachers. The location is convenient and the hours are good. The teachers are wonderful but need to be shown they are valued more by UGRO/LCG so that they do not continue leaving."
