"Ordered a Kenmore Progressive 36922 Bagless vacuum from an Ebay auction run by these folks. Retail Price of this vacuum is around $250. Item was NIB, even though picture posted showed a used item. Auction ended for $160.77. Shipping and insurance brought the total to $179.77. I paid immediately with PayPal and received a shipment notification the next morning.
No tracking number was given with the notification. Emailed a request for tracking number. Got a response from Pat that it did not make it on that day’s shipment and I would receive a tracking number when UPS picked it up the next day after 5 p.m. Next evening rolled around with no contact. Emailed my request for tracking info again. Next morning received an email that, not only was the item not in stock, it was no longer available. I was offered another brand vacuum as a replacement which, in my mind and according to Consumers Reports was not nearly equivalent.
I called and spoke with Pat, he said he was sorry but it was an inventory issue and I could take the offered vacuum or take a refund. I did not want a refund, as this still would leave me without a vacuum. I asked for a different vacuum, a Hoover, that I thought was more comparable to the Kenmore and rated nearly as high with Consumers Reports, that retailed for a similar (albeit slightly higher price). I was told he would have to run it by the owner when he was in tomorrow morning and he would call me when he found anything out.
By 5 p.m. I had received no call, so I called back. Pat was not available, left my info and was told he would call me back ASAP. An hour later I had still not received a call so I called again, Pat still was not available, told to try again in 10 minutes. Called back and was put on hold, 5 minutes later, Dean picked up the phone and I explained the problem yet again to him. Asked for the Hoover as replacement, was told that it was a more expensive vacuum than what I paid and he couldn't approve anything except their cost (supposedly $240) plus shipping, which would have cost me another $80 from what I had already paid. He told me this kind of thing "happens all the time" and that "we sell so much we can't keep track of it" I told him this was not acceptable and he said he would have to check with the owner (who apparently hadn't been contacted yet) and he would call me the next day.
By 2 p.m. the next day, no response. Checked my email and they had refunded my purchase without so much as a final contact, hoping to make me go away I assume. I called and spoke with Dean and asked him why they weren't willing to make a customer who had been lied to happy. He said they couldn't take any loss. I asked to talk to the owner and was told he is out of town for a week, but he did speak with him early and that was what he said. Even though I was lied to twice by their employees telling me the item had shipped or would ship the next day, they would not deal.
I plan on calling back next week to speak with the owner about the poor inventory system and lack of service to a very disgruntled customer. Lying to try and get some extra time is just not acceptable. If you tell me it has shipped, it better be on the truck and not just hopefully maybe available.
